How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • I like to track both walks and runs but I don't want to spam everyone with my relatively short walks.  I would like the option of making my walks 'private' by default while keeping my runs 'public'.  I have to do this manually at the moment.

Basically, I would like to set the default privacy on a per sport basis.

  • I am requesting an upgrade to Segment Explore that can answer many of the other requests on the Explore feature. When going into Explore if I could click on a segment result and hide it from my results, similar to hiding segment results from your activities it would be great.  I still want to be able to see these segment in my activity results but not when searching for a new ride/run. I like to go on new routes and use explorer to plan rides/runs.  If I could hide segments that I know well or I'm not interested it would allow me to see the less utilized segments.  I could zoom out and look for longer segments only.  It would give me control to really dive into finding the segments I want (length, hilly, rare, etc...) without a lot of special features being added to Strava.

  • Less important but on your running distance personal bests is there a way to see more than just your overall top time? On a specific run it will show 1st, 2nd or 3rd but I can never see it again.  Also, the distances for personal bests seem to be set but don't display for all distances it records, it would be nice to see all the distances that are recorded.  Finally, would be nice to see the personal bests over a given time period. As I get older I can't compete with my younger self but would like to compete with myself over the past year or several years.  Also, I was involved in an incident that took significant damage, surgeries and recovery time to my legs, I have no ability to match my pre-incident times but would like to see how I'm doing post-incident, being able to search these personal bests over a specific timeframe would help me to know I'm improving and give me something to work towards rather than chasing a former, younger version of myself I can't match.

  • It would be nice to have a Past & Future Races section on user profiles so we can advertise race history and current training ambitions to other runners.  For people who train in larger running communities (thinking different training teams within a big city), it'd be nice to see what events other runners are signed up for and training towards.  It'd also be nice to see people's race history to be able to ask about their opinions on the race/course.

  • I would like for the current day's date to show on the activity summary screen on the Strava app instead of it saying “Today”.

When you run virtual races (which there have been a lot of virtual races this year) you need to document that you ran the distance and duration on a specific date – this can be done by taking a screenshot of any of a variety of tracking devices. The problem is that the current summary screen on Strava shows distance, pace, moving time (duration), and elevation but at the top, it says “Today” instead of the current date. Two days later (after it has cycled through “yesterday”) it will show the date but often these screenshots need to be submitted the day of the event.

Right now, this can be accomplished by going onto the Strava website, however, this is rather inconvenient, especially when the website then tries to get you to use the app more.

  • Hi Pavel Pro

Thanks for your suggestion about having custom badges for our new feature. Your feedback is the most valuable if posted in our Community Forum thread.

  • Using the map for navigating a saved route on my iphone I would like to have the riding direction always facing top of the screen and not as it is now always north unlessyou manually always correct it while riding.

This would allow me keep focus on the riding better and not be messing with the navigation as much. It does get confusing causing some wrong turns.

An auto zoom would also be great depending on how how many bands / turns there are in a certain segment

  • Canicross
The canicross sport is growing throughout the UK and Europe and parts of America.
A lot of work has been undertaken in growing this sport and it would be great to see this as an activity that could be recorded in its own right.
It would also benefit runners who do not have the assistance of a dog (who sometimes provides a faster pace).
    Thanks

  • Option of changing default display during activity.  I want the option of changing the primary/main display during an activity.  For example, the default largest font displayed currently shows speed.  I would like to be able to tap the heart rate box and have that become the primary (largest font) so that when I am pushing a steep grade I can glance at the display and instantly see my heart predominantly displayed.   Note:  Runtastic's app allows users to do this from the main screen by merely tapping the metric the user wants to be the primary large displayed value.  A similar method in Strava would be great.

  • A listing of Canicross as a sport would be fantastic. When listing as a ‘run’ the speeds gained through Canicross often distort the stats for unaided runners. Canicross is a rapidly growing sport which should now have its own category.

  • One thing i think would be handy is a pacer in Strava. Set before you go that you want to do a 10k run in 45 mins, then each km strava notifies you if you 20secs off the pace or ahead etc. Could even add little motivational quotes if your slowing. I know it already gives you updates on your previous km etc ao it could just be a slight tweak. I really think it could help folk challenge their pb’s !

  • I have been a STRAVA subscriber for almost 1 year. I find the classification of athletes in the segments interesting. However, despite this being divided by age, gender, etc... It is still unfair in relation to the KOM/QOM since to achieve this "award" you must compete with everyone. The correct thing in my view, more balanced and fair would be to exist KOM/QOM by age, gender and weight. Never will a 55-year-old athlete, even in excellent physical condition for his category, achieve any KOM/QOM in popular segments disputed with 20-year-old athletes. You could create a fairer and more democratic KOM/QOM, like KOM senior/KOM+55/KOM+20, etc... I'm sure it would be the biggest hit among users. Thanks.

  • When i want to use a suggested route (out of the three offered) based on my location, set distances, road type etc. It would be nice to have a button share/export (TCX or GPX)file (next to save and view details buttons) so you can send it to your Garmin/bike computer.

  • A feature that I'm sure many Strava users, especially cyclists would appreciate, is the ability to use the gear log to keep a record of date and milage for things like new tire installs, chains, drivetrains, bar tape, etc...

Also,    A comment section on individual segments on the segment analysis page.. segment discussion is often a big part of our post-ride coffee breaks

  • I think it is now time to split the "Bike" activity into two activities "Mountain bike" and "Road". Indeed, with the appearance of the new route suggestion feature, the only "Bike" activity is no longer adequate! Moreover, the comparisons of performances or others can be done only in this single activity if you practice MTB AND Road!

  • As more of us are switching wheelsets between rides for all-in-one frames (e.g. the Allied Allroad) in order to ride both gravel and road, it would be nice to indicate which wheelsets and tires you rode with on each ride. This would be great for keeping up with mileage and would be interesting to see in rider’s feeds (e.g. riding a trail with 35 vs 38cc tires, etc.)

  • I want to toggle between segments efforts that I performed alone and in a group.  I suspect you should be able to tell based on nearby riders.  Many of my PR's are lower physical efforts than my subsequent solo efforts but show as slower.  Yes they are slower but it is not apples to apples so it would be helpful to get a realistic comparison... "oh I see - Sam pulled that segment time because he was in a train...but when he is alone I can hold my own..."

  • Scott McBurney - I understand what you are saying, but Strava has no way of knowing accurately whether someone was riding in a pack versus solo unless each person indicated as such on their file.  Their algorithm for determining if someone was riding with another person is terrible and not even close to accurate. I know I been shown as riding in a "group ride" with others when I never even saw them at any point, I just happened to follow the same or similar route near the same time.  Other times are in races where I may be within a few seconds of another person, but definitely not close enough to be gaining any draft assistance from them.

  • I'd like the following function, already existing in the web version, were available also in the app: when you've created a path, you can follow the altitude graph with a finger or mouse and look in the map the position. This function could help me, e.g. when I'm re-routing a trip, in looking where I've to climb and how much.
This function is not active for the app, but I think it'd be appreciated by many. Thank you

  • Hello, would you please consider adding "Wing Foil" to your supported "Activity" types? You already have "Windsurf" and "Kitesurf", which I really appreciate, but now there's another wind+water sport gaining popularity. There are a lot of folks who "wing foil" in addition to "windsurf" and/or "kitesurf", and there's need to be able to distinguish them, since they really are different sport. Being able to distinguish them will better serve people trying to judge the wind condition from the activity feeds from windsurfers/kiteboarders/wingfoilers, because wingfoilers tend to move slower than windsurfers/kiteboarders and if they just look at the average/max speed of wingfoilers thinking they are windsurfers, then the condition may seem worse than it actually was. I hope this makes sense. Thank you.

  • The ability to filter activities to what gear you are using. This would managing gear easier, especially if you have missed to register correct on some activities.

There is one related function which would be good as well, when clicking on a specific gear, it should list all activities used by this gear.

  • I would like to propose a very simple improvement. In Statistics Section, in the summary of the year it would be a good thing to add the average speed (in km/h) and the average ascent (in m/km). This summary only includes total distance, hours and ascent metres. I know it is a simple division but it's much more better if you can see it directly.

  • Please can we have a return to being able to freely download other users’ rides/runs as GPX files.

It’s particularly handy for exploring new areas, and was available to all Strava users before the June 2021 update. I suggest to Strava that they have no right to capitalise on the availability of individuals’ GPX files as they belong to the Strava member that recorded them.

I think it’s a real shame this has happened, making them freely available will likely incentivise people to get out, explore and exercise.

  • As a cyclist, I would like to be able to add a piece of gear, for example, a saddle or handlebar bag, to an activity (ride, in my case) independently of the other elements (ie which bike I use). This would enable the power algoithm to more accurately caclulate my output, based on the change in weight/speed. This could also be incorporated with the ability to move components, eg. wheels/tyres/brake rotors, between bike, as mentioned in a number of other items.

    Cases,

    1. I have some bags that I may take (1 or more), or not on a ride, to carry the things I need for the ride, the weights may vary, but generally are consistent, (eg saddle bag 3kg). They are independent of the bike I take, and could go with any bike I have.

    2. I change wheels/tyres depending on the ride I am planning, and these are also independent of the bike I choose, and would like to track usage to understand replacement needs/usage/wear.

  • When adding gear in settings, users are able to specify bike type (road, cross, etc.)

I'd like to propose adding further filtering of activities in global heatmap (and in route planner) not only by activity type, but also by *bike* type. This way, we'd be able filter out cross/mtb bikes and see which paths are actually used by people on road bikes. At least in my area, provided data about surface (paved/dirt) is absolutely unreliable and this option might be super helpful.

  • Hey Nick C we never removed the option to download other athlete's routes. You can still do this by viewing their activity from a computer. The only instance in which this isn't possible is if their privacy settings are limiting that action. You can find more information about Routes here.
