How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • A simple features to manage club member list.

It is difficult for an admin to manage the members of the club, suppress member is availible only at once and when  it's done for example for a member located in the 20th page of the list, the list returns to the first page, which is a wast of time and effort.

Strava can make a simple features which is available in every page viewing a list (like e-mail for example) and make possible a multiple selection.

I have just a one hundred club members and I face difficulties to manage it, I can not imagine managing a one thousand club members.

  • Hi, another feature I would like added is the ability to share completed challenges. I don't see any option to share challenge accomplishments on Social Media.

  • Weekly and monthly leaderboards would be nice in addition to “today” and “this year” and “all time”

  • I just re-wrote this:

Please add support for downhill mt bikeparks. Many of us would like to have the downhills counted as one ride or session but have the chairlift rides/miles excluded.

Maybe this is a suggestion to add an option to exclude uphill miles from any lift served activity. Skiing, snowboarding, bikepark biking. Maybe add a checkbox to exclude the miles from any segment. Then people at lift-served places could create a segment for the chairlifts and those of us that wanted to could un-check the miles from that segment.

  • I would like to see an option to organize the routes which I created. Over time I have created a lot routes in several countries/regions. Currently it costs a lot of time to find a route in my own routes as the routes seem only sorted chronological. I see two different options:

    1. Create folders. This could be based on predefined folders (by country or by region) or folers based on users choice ('Alpes 2020', 'Flanders', like photo albums on Facebook).

    2. Plot all own routes on a map. Similar as is now the case with segments.

  • I want to know how many miles I've run/biked with a friend. Could you give achievements at the 50 and 100 mile marks(for example) to celebrate friendships that have gone the distance?

Validation from your statistics, words of affirmation(say something encouraging) and maybe an image of a hypothetical medal to show how many miles we've covered would bring me extrinsic joy, a small dopamine hit, and motivation to get out with friends and record on Strava more.

  • In profile along with longest ride, I would like to see most single ride vertical , more relevant for people that don’t live in mountainous terrain with the long climb segments .Also a feather in the cap for Everesters

  • Dave Nickerson it's possible to see how your effort stacks up against others on a weekly and monthly basis as well as additional filtering options if you log into your account from a computer.

  • I want "field hockey" to be an activity type. It will allow me to track my field hockey sessions. The reason that is important is because there is only "hockey" and I fear this is "ice hockey" and thus the algorithm might be making faulty conclusions. An example of when I needed that was everytime I play field hockey.

  • *This comment is not about improving current Strava features but about a potential logo design to work alongside the recent app revamp. I was informed by a Strava representative to post my design here, to gain insights from the Strava community.*

I’m a final-year university student studying product/graphic design in Bristol, UK, and an avid Strava user. I felt inspired to practice my branding skills due to noticing the recent design changes to the app and decided to redesign the current Strava logo.

My aim is NOT to offend or upset anyone but to show support, provide inspiration, and possibly contribute to the platform.

Feel free to click the link below to view the logo design! Any feedback would be much appreciated, as that's how I can better my skills, possibly improve on the design, and allows Strava to see if this is a potential design to put forward.

  • I'd like to see more options for activities on Apple Watch. Specifically water activities like swimming, windsurfing, and sailing.

  • Hey Tim Daechsel thank you for your suggestions and apologies for not answering your question regarding the gear log feature, I'm glad to hear that you were able to find it. We have people on our Support as well as Product teams constantly reading and reviewing all the comments in the Community Forum. We recommend that athletes first search our Help Center for any related articles since we're not able to directly respond to every comment posted here. We value your input as well as everyone else's. Your comments, posts, and feature discussions are key in helping us explore ideas that are not part of our product roadmap, and can help us prioritize our future work.

  • Hi, Strava should show much better pauses (breaks) during activities. Some people run a 10k with a total of 30mn breaks… and strava show the pace without pauses. We must go to details to get stop time…
A suggestion is to put a vertical bar each time user have a break during activites on graphics.
And add total pace time on main page of the activity.

  • Tom Cervoni thanks for your suggestions. Another indicator of breaks and pauses is viewing the Elapsed Time vs. the Moving Time. We tend to prioritize showing the Moving Time on activities, unless they are marked as a race, then we display Elapsed Time, because all pauses are factored into race times. You can read more about it here

  • New Average Speed Metric Calculation

As a cyclist without a power meter I often look at my average (moving/active) speed for an activity to get some indication of how hard I was riding. A while back I came up with an alternative average speed metric which is simple and elegant but gives a better measure of how hard you are riding.  I've recently put a brief description and link to a script that computes it from a gpx file on the web: https://people.eng.unimelb.edu.au/lee/src/posavespeed/  The general idea is that the normal average speed calculation gives equal weight to the speed for each second of the ride whereas the new metric gives equal weight for each metre/foot of the ride (it's the average over the position or distance rather than time). If your speed is very low, less weight is given and if the speed drops to zero, no weight is given (so there is no need for arbitrary thresholds to distinguish when you are moving/active). It would be great if Strava could list this as well as the more traditional metric for activities (and possibly even segments, though for me that is not a priority)

  • There should be a post for new suggested Activity Types.

(Maybe this suggestion has been made before, but there's no way to search just the comments for one thread, and I'm not reading the 346 comments to find out. Also, the fact that this post has 346 comments most of which are feature suggestions is an indication that the new forum design is not really working).

  • Long Distance Heatmap

Heatmap is beautiful to watch, but not really too useful, to many routes.

I would love to see heatmap that is filtered by tracks longer than 20 km or so,

Probably not that easy to do, but it would be great to check bicycle routes that other people are traveling,

It should show long distance tracks, or things that locals know and use to travel from one city to another but are not nessesary marked as bicycle road or on any map.

  • I want to see Tai Chi/Qi Gong added as an activity.

It will allow me to  track this activity separately from 'workout' or 'yoga', which are the only ways right now I can relate it to.

The reason that is important is because  I also suspect that there are others who practice Tai Chi/Qi Gong and there's no way to label that.

An example of when I would like this is... I have a regular tai chi/qi gong practice. I can only use yoga or workout as a label...

  • For WindSurfing activity:

I use a custom app "Windsurfing application" from VivSurfer. The app records data in Km and meters using the device (Garmin Fenix 6 Pro) GPS.
The sync of this app with Garmin Connect works fine and keeps these measures and scales.
Once Connect syncs with Strava, the measures are converted to NM for distance and kn for speed.

I would like them to either show Km and m as additional (converted) measures, or totally replace the NM and KN to metric scale.

Similar case and feature you had implemented recently for Kitesurfing apps/activities.

Synchronizing from Garmin Fenix 6 to Garming Connect and from there to Strava

  • I saw a somewhat similar request here already, but I'd really like to be able to track maintenance on my bikes.  It would be awesome if I could say that I replaced my wheel bearings today and know that 6 months from now I've got 1k miles on them, etc.  There's a bunch of standard maintenance to perform on a bike (like a car - generally intervals suggested by mileage and/or time) and if this could be tracked in Strava (similar to how shoes, frames, and components are tracked - and thanks for this BTW) this would be another really helpful tool in Strava.  Thanks!

    • I want give others the option to set a default ride type as E-Bike, ideally across platforms (which I I understand means dev time, but E-Bikes are killing local tracks and causing aggro with riders. It will allow me to do stop trawling certain sections and reporting repeat offenders, while also improving e-bike competition legitimately and creating a better trail atmosphere for all. The reason that is important is because of the fact that so many just can't be bothered to amend their ride type, and subsequently, gobble up a load of uphill KOMS and top 10's - this is seriously disengaging interest in using Strava from some exceptional athletes, as it can only be policed by the community so well - E-bikes are everywhere now. An example of when I needed that was every day...
    • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When others do not change their ride type, then illegitimate achievement  of  goals arises and that is not ok because people work so hard to climb the boards on manual bikes - the lack of respect for their efforts (knowingly / unknowingly) by a portion of the community on e-bikes is causing a level of unease.
    • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___? I don't think this warrants a screenshot.
    • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because legitimate record of competition and achievement is why I, and millions of others pay a premium membership to Strava.
    • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a default ride type (set via the web browser), which overrides any incoming ride data from a watch / cycle computer would be great because then people could set and forget, and if they need to change they can do it manually. Any other activity (walk / run / fly) can come in as normal - It's only for cycling that this challenge exists. This is important to me because I have to flag hundreds of rides a week and the competition is getting ruined and community spirit damaged.

  • I do not see any option to create segments for open water swimming. It will be great if this option is available. There are growing numbers of open water swimmers and there are routes that we regularly swim in.  Thank you.

  • It would be great to be able to track a horse ride. If you don’t add it as a sport then link to Equiflair or Ridely so we can import data. It would help me keep the horse training and all my other training together in one place.

  • I would like to be able to link my activities to my partner's activity. I'm a river\canoe & surf-ski paddler and quite often switch up between single and doubles format, and when I'm in a double, I quite often I switch up who I'm training with.  It would be awesome if, when Strava groups us as having trained together, we could have the option to link who I was in the canoe with.

This will allow a distinction between K1 / K2 / K3 and K4 (number of people in a canoe) formats, which will lead to better\more accurate segment scoreboards and allows me to analyze my training by partner and format.

Off the top of my head, I expect this will be of benefit to canoe & surf ski, rowing, and tandem cycling

  • Could you show the best efforts within a run: 1k, 5k, 10k, HM, etc?

That would allow users to see their performance for those distances within a longer workout that might include a warm up or cool down, etc. It would enable me to assess my potential pace within a training run.

Ideally, those sections (best efforts) would be shown on the map of the route.

    Thank you.
