Organizing Routes / Route Search

I love Strava! I just wish I could organize my Routes by distance, elevation, rating, starting location, road vs mtn Bike), or even more simply be able to search the route name would be a great improvement.

Thanks for the great App!

  • It can be a nice app of Adam R. But first I cannot find it in the Strava supported apps list. And second when I go to the site, my anti virus app is warning me it is a not trusted site. Unless I am missing something and it is in one of the Strava supported apps groups, I will not use it or at least I am hesitated to use it.

  • Hi Johan and others, I'm glad my little site continues to get love here. The site's SSL certificate is currently expired which is why you are getting that warning from your browser. I have not had time to keep up with the site lately, but seeing as Strava STILL inexplicably doesn't have any of these features, I'll spend some time over the holiday getting it back up and running. Thanks for your feedback.

  • hi

when your site is back up Adam i'll start using that.

This is a much needed and probably relatively easy feature for strava to implrement

  • Is the idea completing 4 years?

That's right, production? I not believe.

I think we can make feature requests for Strava, right? I understand that this route organization is essential and I also know that it is relatively simple to do.

Come on Strava! Give us attention. ;)

  • Would love some kind of route organisation.

Folders or tags would be perfect.

I have about 70 atm, which are spread over a few pages, its so hard finding the MTB ones, the road ones, the ones I made in a different city where my family live, etc!

  • I find it hard to believe that there are more than four years of requests for a very simple function; the ability to organize our own routes on the webpage, by a variety of parameters, so we can sort through them, find a route, etc.  COME ON STRAVA; this one is just not that hard.

  • Hello Adam S.

It seems that your site "UpAndDownExtra" is down. Is that still related to the certificate?

As spring is here and group rides cancelled due to COVID-19, bike route sorting is more and more in need. Can you update us on the site status please?

Thanks again for the good work!

  • Me too.  I'd appreciate route sorting, searching and history.

  • This has clearly been an issue raised for many years. How is it not been sorted yet?

For what it is worth, I would make your routes searchable (ie places names) as well as sortable by all the metrics suggested by the many people looking for this update.

  • I hope Strava will integrate a personal route-search function soon.
I currently have 112 routes in my strava, and it's hard to find some routes which I've created in the past.

The question is already been raised in 2016 and so far no answer from Strava yet???

  • Unfortunately I still cannot open the app of Adam R. The site does not seem to exist anymore and there are still outdated certificates.

So I found some kind of way to do it myself, but there is something missing in this still.

You can export all your data from Strava (see https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918437-Exporting-your-Data-and-Bulk-Export). It will also include the routes you have created. It will be exported as a CSV file, so as a list. And it also exports all the routes in GPX format. So in theory you could be creating something in Excel to do this.

But there is one downside to this. The GPX files are downloaded with a sequence number as a name. The CSV file does include those sequence number as reference, so 1 to the total number of routes you have created. But the routes in Strava have an ID which is part of the URL. That ID is not exported. So it is not possible to create a link to the Strava site. You can only link to the downloaded GPX file. Still can help a bit, but not optimal in my opinion.

Also activities are downloaded and the activities do have the ID which is also part of the URL of the activity. So there it is done. Why not add the ID in the routes CSV too, and why not export the GPX with the ID as name instead of a sequence number?

If there is a simple solution where we can have the freedom to do things, why not do it?

  • Need to be able to search and filter. I have over 400 routes and it takes forever to find an old one. If folders could be created would also be a huge help.
