  • I want the possibility to invite people to my challenge via a link. It will allow me to share it with my club easily, without invitating everyone one by one. But I just read that it's limite to 24 people, so the feature is unfortunately useless. 100 would be the minimum to make interesting. Also, not being able to access my challenge on my browser is surprisingly annoying.

Thanks for the efforts, but as mentionned in a previous comment, that can't be your final product.

I hope it'll be improved very soon.

  • I would also like to have cumulative challenge. I would like to team up with my family and have us go to a goal together. It feels like every social/community feature is competitive. I think competition is fine but a few cooperative features would be nice.

  • We would like the group challenge to have a cumulative total. We set our target as a group not as individuals. No objection to the leaderboard but would also like the running total. 🏃🏻🏃‍♀️😀

  • Hello

I have a club profile of which I'm the admin. It would be great if I could create challenges within my club for my clubmates and I to compete on, rather than just inviting people I'm friends with. Some of the challenges are also not accessible for cycling, just running.

    Thanks

  •  I want to be able to find group challenges on the desktop version of the website. It will allow me to share a direct link on my website and social media. The reason that is important is because I want to grow my group. An example of when I needed that was today when I created a challenge in the app, but can't find it on the website.

  • This is a such an awesome feature but was bummed to find out as we continued to add a group of people that the max is only 25 people. We're running a challenge for November. This is a big limitation for us, for now we are creating a second challenge to accommodate... Pleaseeeee update to more than 25.

  • Please increase the group limit. Even if the free challenge limit was retained for non subscribers, increasing the number of people allowed to particiapte in a challenge would encourage more users to Strava and connect communties so much better.

  • love the new concept and normally max of 15 participants would be enough, however if you are admin for a club it would be great to automatically add all your club members to a challenge, have a digital badge. hope you can build on this.

  • Soren  I'm not sure I follow the logic in limiting the challenge participants in order to promote finding connections.  The running club I currently manage has over 200 members, but only 25 of those would be allowed at any one time, which is counter productive considering I often organize meet-ups in support of run challenges.

  • I agree with Matt and Jamie as well. We used a Strava Club for our charity challenge last year, but it has several limitations that I had hoped would be solved by now, either within Clubs or within the new Groups. The limitation to 25 participants is a potential road block for us, since we are trying to get as many participants as possible and in case we get more than 25 we won't be able to use a Group....

  • I'd like to start a club that promotes the use of local cycle paths.  It seems to me that a non-competitive slant on any challenges would work better.  It would be nice if we could have challenges that don't encourage very fast cycling along lanes that are shared with families, dog walkers and horse riders.

I'm lucky to have a political administration that's committed to cycle paths - but we have elections due in September, so any activity that would increase support for continued investment seems to me to be a worthwhile effort

So, my ideas for different types of challenges are -

    • Ride at least one of these (selected) segments.  This could be used to promote the use of a new cycle path - we've had two opened in the last two months alone.
    • Ride at least x of these (selected) segments.  This type of challenge might be used to encourage the use of existing cycle paths.
    • Ride at least x of these (selected) segments with another rider.  This type of challenge might persuade riders to team up with other riders they meet on the path.
    • Ride this segment in no less than x minutes.  This type of challenge is intended to promote a leisurely pace and hopefully result in more cyclists chatting to other users and possibly making friends.
    • Ride at least x of these (selected) segments that you haven't ridden on before.  This type of challenge might be used to encourage the use of existing cycle paths.
    • Spend at least x minutes in this area.  We're lucky to have a few repair stations (picnic benches, track pumps and tools) along some of the paths.

  • Totally agree with Matt. My work are trying to promote active lifestyles and our department is greater than 25, so we have to create multiple challenges and manually calculate totals etc

  • It would be nice to see the limit increase. I have a lot more friends than 25. Can we expect to see this limit increase? At least 100. 250 would be awesome. It will still be locally focused yet include a better portion of the community.

On a somewhat larger yet local level, what about clubs? There are close to 8,000 members in the VanRun running club. It is reasonable to expect that 10% of these people would like to join the challenge in a certain month, this would mean 800 people. The clubs are still usually managed by volunteering individuals, it's not a corporation. Are there any plans to offer this feature to small clubs?

  • I want Start a group challenge in a strava club/group. It will allow me to do invite all members of the Strava group/Club to participate that challenge.  The reason that is important is because of the motivation of our (running) group is all triggered in the light of the strava group.. An example of when I needed that was in the restrictions in the Netherlands we use this group to motivate our running team by organizing challenges. We are now setting up 3km and 5km time challenges. our strava club has 138 (32 paid) members and really suffer and members were demotivated from the 25 participant limit !

  • Soren and I also agree with others that a cumulative total would be great, since our charity challenge will be to achieve a total distance or time for the group. The limitation of 25 group members may be an issue, but my understanding from previous posts is that you do not intend to increase that number (yet).

  • Soren I second the request to make the Group Challenges visible on a desktop browser. I find it strange that they are not already there. The desktop page has a whole tab devoted to new challenges but no active challenges.

  • Our Club is trying to get around the limitations in Strava by implementing a series of Challenges.  We want to track the yearly miles of our cyclists.  The app only lets us track last week and this week leader boards.  So we are making Jan 1 to Dec 31 Challenges that will have 25 athletes each.  We hope by the end of the year we will be able to download this information, combine them and get a yearly list of our club members mileage.  Anything to make this easier would be greatly appreciated.  57 out of 101 people in our club are subscribers.  Get the Clubs working better and we can get the other half our members to subscribe.

  • Summary of changes: 1) the addition of cumulative mile tracking on each persons activity in groups. 2) news feed in a group with only the group members activities and include the current comments section as part of this news feed.

Hi, Im using a group with a few friends where we have a challenge going to reach 1,000 miles.  Right now you can see the cumulative mileage everyone has done, for example at the top it says 10/1000 miles.  It also show me my current l cumulative mileage, example 4.8 miles.  But below my name it does not show my friends mileage; I have to individually click on my friends to see their activity.  I would like to see the addition of individual cumulative mileage. Below is a picture as an example.

Also, in groups there is a comments section.  However you have to click on the section in order to see the comments.  I think it could be nice to have a feed inside the group of only the workouts of your friends in the group as well continue the ability to post comments.  This feed could be below all the cumulative mileage section.

    Thank you!

  • No clue how to create a public "challenge" or can only a Strava admin do that?  There is a big group on Facebook for "Stop Soldier Suicide" 250 miles in July.  Would love to get this on Strava, 10.8K members in the group in FB.

  • I would like the challenges leaderboards (not just group challenges but also Strava challenges) for running challenges to be based on elapsed pace, not moving pace. It used to be this way, but I see it now shows moving pace, which is not as much of a challenge.

  • Soren Thanks for responding to my post so quickly. Looking forward to the updates later this month. Regarding the Leaderboard, these are some features that would be nice:

    - ability to display the leaderboard in the Web GUI, not just the app
    - leaderboard for longest time, although ranked by time, showing distance as well
    - leaderboard for longest distance, although ranked by distance, showing time as well
    - not just a leaderboard for total duration of the challenge, but also weekly leaderboard, and maybe last weeks' leaders, similar to the club leaderboard. That makes it more fun to watch progress and award people during a group challenge which lasts several weeks

thanks for considering these or similar enhancements.

  • Hello Hans van Drie. The following updates related to Group Challenges have been released:
    - Notifications when someone passes you on the leaderboard in a Group Challenge
    - Ability to set start date up to 30 days in the past
    - Some smaller changes related to making the "goal" step optional in the Challenge creation process

Soon challenge creators will be able to edit the start/end date, goal/race distance, name/description, and add or remove qualifying sport types as well.
We are continually building this feature out and appreciate all of your input.

  • We are pleased to announce that everyone on the latest version of the app can now edit the start/end dates, goal/race distance, and add/remove sport types for Group Challenges. Here's how:

    1. Go to the Group tab
    2. Select the Group Challenge you would like to edit
    3. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner of the screen ...
    4. Challenge Settings Screen

  • We urgently need the best list for our group not only for the current and last week, but for an entire year.

Of course, we could also cover this with a challenge. For this it would have to be possible to create challenges for longer than 4 weeks. For 1 year, so to speak.

Garmin has offered this for years. In future, however, we want to draw our best from STRAVA over a year.

  • I'm trying to set up a challenge for runners from my town 40k kilometres in a year which is about around the world trip distance, but THE LIMIT, why only 25 people? I see many people are asking for the same thing, so please could you fix it?

    2
    コメントアクション Permalink
  • Love this new feature, but the 25 limit is really limiting. My wife and I have just launched a charity challenge which this feature would solve for perfectly if it wasnt for the limit. There seems to be no good way to do it with the other tools and we are probably going to have to use one of your competitors instead. So you lose adding multiple new members and risk losing existing members who get to try the alternatives. I love Strava, but given the multiple asks on this thread for the same, why dont you just bump the limit up on the current product, please!

    In English:
I would like the Club Administrator to be able to create challenges that give trophies as a reward. This will allow for more competition in the group and a memory of that event that everyone can comment on. The reason is the group competition, remembrance and trophy collection, demonstrating that everyone participated in or completed that challenge. I needed this in an event I created in my group and I had no way to save that event.

I left an example of a trophy

  • Club internal (Group) challenges should

    • have the ability to add a minimum of 250 members
    • Club members should be able to invite other members to a Club/Group Challenge, whether they are following them personally or not

The ability to have more than 25 members total signed up for a Club Challenge is to support Company/Business/School internal events to support a fundraiser. e.g. 200 employees joining into a month long event to run/walk/hike/bike/swim a total distance of 10.000km and have km for € matched for a good cause by the company.
