Whats best way to record hill repeats of different lengths

I do hill repeats as a training routine. I don't know the best way to record. I tried to record each one as  a separate activity but that isnt practical because it gives me many short activities. Do I start it and then just hit split everytime i start and stop ? If i do this-will i be able to see how long an inverval is as i am running it ?
