Apple watch HR shows average HR (not current HR)

Did my first run using Strava with my Apple Watch series 3.  Had a Polar H10 bluetooth HRM paired with the watch and ran without my phone.  The HR displaying on the Strava watch app during my run was my average HR and not my current HR (which is worthless IMO).  I am sure it was using my Polar HRM, and when I look at my HR data now online, it recorded my HR throughout the run very accurately.  I just would like it to display my current HR rather than my average HR.

Are other people experiencing this?  Any way to change it to display current HR?

  • Yes. I'm experiencing this too. It's not average but almost a cumulative increase in HR.

Five day old AW3 with latest firmware and have followed the specific onboarding instruction too.

  • Yes same thing for me in the last week or so. I have to switch back and forth to native heart rate app to see current HR which is a pain. Especially since I’ve started pacing myself based on target HR range. Hopefully there is a hidden setting to switch back.

  • I noticed that today too.  I think it used to be current heart rate until one of the recent updates.  I agree that average heart rate is pretty much a useless metric to display on the watch during a run.

There needs to be a way to toggle between average and current heart rate at least.

  • Same problem. Happend after the last update of application. Pleaes let us choose or get current HR Rate back, average is worthless during run.

  • I would like an answer on this as well. This makes this app useless.

I did not see this in the notes when you updated this app not long ago.
