Calorie estimate without heart rate and power meter
How does Strava estimate calories for activities without a heart rate and power meter? I seem to get ridiculously high estimates for runs and ridiculously low estimates for rides. As an example for two recent activities:
- 13km run, 450m of vertical gain, average pace 4:58 mins/km, duration 1:05h. Calorie estimate 1727
- 25km ride, 400m of vertical gain, average speed 29km/h, duration 51mins. Calories estimate 72
Of course I don't expect accurate measurements without power meter or heart rate monitor. But such diverging estimates for two activities of similar length and intensity is just plain weird.
