How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Hello,

More and more people are riding bike and e-bikes. Segments leaderboards are separated between bike and E-bike. It should be worth to have a feature to duplicate a bike segment to an E-bike segment (to avoid to recreate a new E-bike segment) and a feature to merge leaderboards between bike and E-bike.

    What do you think?

  • I undersand that the monthly fitness chart does not reflect a user level of fitness itself, but rather, the volume of training and rest. It is clear that the two things correlate but only upto a point. In this sense, the name is quite misleading because it suggest something a bit different.

I would suggest to rename it to something more explicit.

I think that there are various good reason for renaming it. Firstly, my impression is that being let implicitly to increase volume for increasing the level of fitness is generally a bad thing as this is prone to increase the risk of injuy while now providing tangible effects. In fact, by just improving the quality of my tranining, I have been improving my pbs, while my fitness i.e. my volume - is reportedly decreasing. Also, I think that having a more explicit reference to volume, rather than fitness, would prevent detrimental effect like negative addition. Both this points would probably make easier to adopt a more balanced approach to training and, potentially, retain more users in the long run.

If a measure of fitness is desired, I belive that there are way of estimating it: not sure about the literature here but a measure of the time spend at a given pace wrt the pace distribution at a given HR + temperature and other enviromantal factors (incline, wind etc) would probably be a good candidate.

  • Alpine Ski on Galaxy Watch app

I would love to have the Alpine Ski activity on the Galaxy Watch app. Having to bring up the phone in the ski lift or slope is risky. If this activity could come to the watch, it would help a lot, and being able to see the number of runs etc. on it would just be great.

  • I want to be able to choose swimming as my primary activity on my profile, and also so swimming can be the default activity statistic when opening my profile. It is important to me that I am able to display the stats where I am most active

For example, if I select running as my primary activity then someone viewing my profile would see that my running stats are shown as the default. If I select cycling a my primary activity then my cycling stats are shown as the default. If I have been swimming and not running or cycling, then if someone looks at my profile, on first glance it appears as though I have not done anything.

When I consider following someone the first thing I do is see if they're active on Strava, and I do not want to have to search through running and cycling to see if someone is an active swimmer.

I understand that you cannot have every activity available as a primary activity and then also have all of the stats - well you could but it would be more complicated. However, I want to make a case for swimming to be included as primary activity:

    • If you want to create a Strava club there are four options: Running, cycling, triathlon and other. I don't understand the logic of leaving swimming out if you include triathlons. If you include triathlons in the clubs, and triathletes swim, cycle and run, then why exclude swimming?
    • If the three default statistics available on my profile are running, cycling and swimming then why not allow for swimming to be a primary activity?

It would also then make sense to include swimming as one of the club type options.

  • I really like using the Strava App but I thinkg is lacks of two important things:

    - Live elevation gain: sometimes is very important to measure the elevation gain during the Activity. Not only getting the data after closing it. I made an Everesting Challenge using my phone as back up and not having this was a real pain in the ass.

-Also would be nice to have some offroad bike sports in the app, like Enduro.

I am using other devices and apps to measure this, but it would be nice if all were recorded in the same app.

  • Suggest that FlyBy privacy settings be refined so that Virtual rides can be visible in FlyBy whilst still preventing Real rides from being visible.

The privacy concerns about FlyBy are much less significant for a virtual event.

Enabling FlyBy for Zwift events lets MeetUp organisers and riders review their event/race and provide a more accurate finish order than Zwift meet-ups do (because of the start line ordering and distance issue)

  • I would like you to add extra sport - kick scooter as there is many of us who would love to use Strava and do some “challenges” but unfortunately scooting is not as fast as cycling and is faster than running. Basically scooting is half running and half cycling. Other apps like Adidas Running, also previously Endomondo use included scooting and it was awesome. .

  • I am quite disappointed that I am no longer able to set a custom specific date range for Heatmaps. Since moving to a new city, I have been planning on creating my own personal week by week recreation of my exploration of the city during my runs, but now I am only able to select yearly date ranges. Heatmaps is my favourite new feature, and I use it regularly. I personally don't care about being able to save the heatmap since it is easy enough to screenshot them, but I would really love to be able to go back week by week, or month by month even, to visualize my progress. This small change would make a huge difference to me!

  • I would really like to have Strava allow me to set up a start date and end date for a new component or time between tune ups on my bike.  It would automatically calculate total miles ridden or total hours ridden for that item.  This feature would save having to manually calculate that information.  This might even be a fee based item that a bike shop could pay for to help their customers keep track of regular maintenance times.

  • Detect if GPS is ready on Apple Watch

I have experienced issues with my watch not having a strong GPS signal when starting a run which results in Strava falling back to the pedometer and providing inaccurate metrics. Having a message when starting a new activity that warns of the GPS signal is not adequate and giving the option to continue with the workout or wait for a stronger signal would be nice.  Something like this

  • A simple feature that's missing on Strava (Desktop version and Mobile App):

In Post-Activity View, ability to sort the list of segments by the column type by clicking the grey header bar containing the column names

i.e. Sort by Time for longest/shortest segments, Sort by Achievement level Gold/Silver/Bronze etc.

Benefit to user: After a long ride/run with hundreds of segments, find the ones that "matter" quickly

  • Idea is to allow user to create pop up notifications for bikes based on either hours and/or kilometers ridden to make it easier to remind and track maintenance intervals. Kind of similar as for running shoes.

  • E-bike filter for Segment Explorer.

I hope Starva adds an option to filter E-bike segments for Segment Explorer. It would be nice to know where other E-Bikers ride.

  • I want to be able to set a default sport e.g. E-Bike Ride. It will allow me to do import my activities and be sure that they are tagged as the correct sport. Currently I have to import the activity then go into the activity and edit it to change the sport.

The reason that is important is because I sometimes forget and end up getting mixed up in normal bike segments which probably annoys others if I steal a KOM accidentally.

  • There is only one category for Cross country skiing which is listed as Nordic skiing. However, Nordic skiing consists of Classic XC, Skate XC and Back country skiing which have very different performance profiles. E.g. With Classic XC most people can hit a max of 20 km/h on flat ground whereas in Skate XC it can be as high as 40kmh. This results in skewed results in segments and it becomes hard to compare performances against others. If you could separate Nordic Skiing in to Classic and Skate it would help in more logical comparisons with others.

  • English (German below):

I'd like to add an activity for stuff/games that is taking place in virtual space (but has real effects, of course). Another possibility would be to add an activity that represents games in VR that needs actual fitness.

This morning for example as a warm up for my run I played the campain from "Pistol Whip: 2089", a game for the VR headset Oculus Quest. After 30min my legs burned:-D

There are a number of VR headsets out there where you can buy and play fitness games. Other games are fitness games even if it is probably not their first intention. (Another example is "Beat Saber". There are others.)

    ---

  • Walking Splits

So far you only show splits for running but there are a lot of power or race walkers who want to keep their walking and running data separate. I have to log everything as running then workout manually my annual totals for each which is not ideal.  It has been asked for before but its something that is really essential for athletes like myself who do multiple disciplines

  • I have two teammates that were killed by drivers whilst riding, who used Strava.  It would be nice if Strava would place a black ribbon across their page/name.  What do you guys think?  Other cyclists have died, from natural causes as well, that could be memorialized.  Thoughts?

  • I would like to have a separate FTP for different bikes. This is because the power reading from my road bike is significantly different than my Peloton bike. This means my power zone stats are incorrect for all rides with one of my bikes. This makes it not possible to track progress during seasons when riding both bikes.
I would also like to see my Peloton bike automatically selected when a Peloton ride is uploaded.

  • Trail Condition Reports

It would be incredibly helpful to both users and trail stewards if Strava offered some means to rate/review the current condition of different trails/segments.

This would get tons of use in our MTB/fat bike community all year, but also hiking/XC skiing here in Minnesota.

  • Hi, Could you add a couple of new types of sport? You have loads, but I would really like to use Strava for Paramotoring and Paragliding to log my flights.

There is nothing really like strava for these sports. Theres a couple of sites for paragliding but nothing for paramotoring and is getting to be very popuplar, and paragliding is already very popular.

As well as the stats, we're missing the social element to share flights and give kudos etc. I think that there is a big opportunity to enter the airsports community.

  • I would really appreciate it if dancing was added as an activity that you can record.
At the moment I use Strava for tracking my cycling and walking but my main sport is dancing so it would be great if I could track it to. I do more dancing than cycling and walking so more than half of my exercise isn’t logged. For these reasons I would love to have dancing as one of the activities.

  • I have several suggestions about activities.

The first is to have your common ones, ones you've recorded an activity in the last 6 or 12 months, listed first.  Maybe even ones that you'd used multiple times.  This makes it easier to select an activity you are most likely to use.

The second might be to put your non-used activities into a "more activities" or ellipsis button.  For the times that you want to record an esoteric activity that you do infrequently, like zip lining, you can find it.

And the third is to allow a few user defined settings.  Different people want to record different workouts or activities.  We see several addition suggestions in these 8 pages, but really it could be anything that you want to record as a workout or activity.  A friend of mine has an e-foil, and when she records it she puts it as a ride, and then I bug her about it when I see she was riding on the lake again.  Not too many people have an e-foil, so making it one of many activities that everyone sees when trying to record a new workout, especially when in alphabetical order, doesn't make sense.  But if you could let a user define an activity for themselves, that would let everyone record their own important activities.  Ideally you also let people define what attributes of the workout are important, and even a calorie calculator.  But really, the first thing is just time, a map, and editable details the user puts in.

These options would make Strava even more useful to a wider audience, but also improve the user experience and keep things simple for the core users.  Thanks!

  • I've been pointed to here by Bryant (Help Center)as he is saying this is the best way to ask for new features to Starva Devs.

Is there a way to have avg speed displayed in workout page?

In Ride I have: avg speed, distnace, moving time, elevation (no calories? why?_

In Walk I have Distance time pace elevation calories

InHike I have Distance Time Pace Elevation calories

In Run I have Distance Moving time pace Elevation calories

Why not just display all those in the workout sheet (You have all the data and calculations are not some diffcult math problems)? It wold be nice to define those laso to be displayed during workout on mobile app (but i understand it may take a while).

It would also be nice to have some stats like km done during a day a week a month a year etc.

Fitness Syncer has a lot of nice stats but why use another product and connect it to Strava instead of using Strava itself?

  • I have been mostly rucking lately so it would be nice to have that as an exercise option along with the weight carried to properly calculate the effort. It is not running, walking, or hiking, even though you do all of those things, just with a weighted vest or pack so the stats are always way off. Most of the time, I've got 30-60-pounds on my back, and sometimes I take it up to 110 pounds with no way to properly track it.

  • John Bowers - You don't need the "flyby" feature to compare your own rides on a segment.  Just open the segment and use the "Compare" tool.  Select your efforts tab and select which ones you want to compare.  It will show you a graph of your progress through the segment and you will be able to see where the differences are.  Drag your cursor along the profile graph and you will see the different efforts on the map.
