How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

    • I want give others the option to set a default ride type as E-Bike, ideally across platforms (which I I understand means dev time, but E-Bikes are killing local tracks and causing aggro with riders. It will allow me to do stop trawling certain sections and reporting repeat offenders, while also improving e-bike competition legitimately and creating a better trail atmosphere for all. The reason that is important is because of the fact that so many just can't be bothered to amend their ride type, and subsequently, gobble up a load of uphill KOMS and top 10's - this is seriously disengaging interest in using Strava from some exceptional athletes, as it can only be policed by the community so well - E-bikes are everywhere now. An example of when I needed that was every day...
    • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When others do not change their ride type, then illegitimate achievement  of  goals arises and that is not ok because people work so hard to climb the boards on manual bikes - the lack of respect for their efforts (knowingly / unknowingly) by a portion of the community on e-bikes is causing a level of unease.
    • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___? I don't think this warrants a screenshot.
    • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because legitimate record of competition and achievement is why I, and millions of others pay a premium membership to Strava.
    • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a default ride type (set via the web browser), which overrides any incoming ride data from a watch / cycle computer would be great because then people could set and forget, and if they need to change they can do it manually. Any other activity (walk / run / fly) can come in as normal - It's only for cycling that this challenge exists. This is important to me because I have to flag hundreds of rides a week and the competition is getting ruined and community spirit damaged.

  • Weighed power analysis for laps. Strava provides weighted power analysis for the entire ride, but only raw power for laps. I'd like to know my Normalize Power / Weighted Power for each lap.

  • I do not see any option to create segments for open water swimming. It will be great if this option is available. There are growing numbers of open water swimmers and there are routes that we regularly swim in.  Thank you.

  • Could you show the best efforts within a run: 1k, 5k, 10k, HM, etc?

That would allow users to see their performance for those distances within a longer workout that might include a warm up or cool down, etc. It would enable me to assess my potential pace within a training run.

Ideally, those sections (best efforts) would be shown on the map of the route.

    Thank you.

  • I would like to see the kudos I got in alphabetical order on my iPhone too, just like in Windows.

When you got a lot of kudos it is hard to find a particlar person. You need to scroll all the way down and hope you didn't mis him/her.

  • Audio cues while cycling

Please make it so we get audio cues while cycling. Similar to audio ques while running, but obviously with different Intervals. Maybe custom intervals? What if I want audio cues every 5.67 miles?

  • Hello Strava,

As we are now able to start riding in groups I would love to be able to post group rides outside club rides.  Is this something being considered?

    Thanks…

  • Next and Previous buttons

It would be really nice to have Next and Previous buttons on the Activity pages.

Let's say you're viewing your activities. Instead of clicking on each activity and then going back to the Dashboard or My Activities each time, just click Next, Next, Next to go from one to the next.

A good example of this is provided by Atlassian JIRA. Each issue page has Next, Previous, and Return to Search. Very handy.

  • Hello,

I send you this message to give you a feedback for a specific functionality of Strava.

Today, it is possible to compare speed between workouts on similar tracks. I thing it is a good idea, but it is not very useful for me. For example, I can ride out with a specific speed one day, for example 28km/h, and another day it will be 33km/h. But does it mean I am better? I don’t think so, maybe my heartbeat was 30% higher, or the wind was in my favor and so my power was lower. Or maybe I wanted to ride on a similar track with a lower heartbeat that’s why my speed was lower.

So I think it could be a good idea to graph the evolution of heartbeat and the power when we compare similar workouts, because only speed is not always pertinent.

Thanks a lot for your feedback and keep going to improve your app!

  • Strava has introduced the ability to record a wide selection of activity types, which is great. However, you can still only have running or cycling as your primary sport and the app shows very little data for any sports outside of these two options.

Currently, there are very few (if any) good, reliable apps for kayakers.

    I would love to see Strava add more features for the sport, such as;

    * Check in - The app paddle logger currently requests that you check in at specified times. If you don’t, it sends a text to your emergency contacts. This could be added to the beacon feature in Strava.

    * Kayak as a primary sport and club option - it would be great to be able to connect with users in the same way you can for riding and running.

    * Relevant stats and options - the weather function is a great start here.
Being able to log the boat you’re in under kit, the river you’re on as a free text box, paddle and pause time, specific segments and routes etc

    * The ability to pull more data from smart watches such as paddles per second etc to show segments you have higher exertion would be great.

Having these features will allow me to more closely monitor and improve my training and provide a forum to connect with other kayakers and form clubs of people that can’t do the generic Tuesday night meeting, but want to challenge each other to improve.

I’d happily pay subscription fees for access to these additional sports.

  • Using an iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard to to try to view Strava activity. The app will only show in a Portrait mode and will not flip to Landscape mode. Would like to see the app have capability to flip to landscape mode to enable use with keyboard.

  • Hi Florian S.! Strava can automatically split most multi-sport fit files from devices such as the 310xt, 910xt, or the 920xt. If you are seeing multiple activities result in Strava from your Garmin file, you may be experiencing a technical error with this function. However, I went ahead and created a support ticket for you so that we can investigate this further.

Hey Tania Sanchez! In regard to two activities resulting from your Garmin stopping mid-hike or mid-ride, you can actually export each activity file as a TCX or GPX file and then use a website called gotoes to combine the files. Just keep in mind that you'll need to delete the existing activities on Strava before uploading the merged file. Unfortunately, you will lose all kudos and comments on those activities. I hope that helps!

  • EXTRA RUNNING METRIC

As a runner, I would like to bring up the idea, to be able to syncronize "more data" that is coming in from other platforms.
I am running with a GARMIN HR, that calculated POWER, but also provides vertical ration, cadence, ...
Currently this data is not visible in STRAVA, so I need to return to my garmin.connect.
I think adding these metrics would be a great feature, like this people don't need to check 2 platform to get an update on there performances.
Also in addition to this it would be great to have like a "timeline" where you can track improvements on these metric.
Thanks for voting on the idea!

  • Add "Trail Maintenance" activity type: It would be awesome if you could select "Trail Maintenance" as an activity type when recording an activity.  This would allow users the ability to log when they had recently done trail maintenance so others would know that a particular segment is in great condition for a ride or run.  Here in Alaska, the growth rate of the vegetation in summer months is unbelievably fast due to 20+ hours of sunlight, so we have to "mow" our trails 2-3 times per summer to keep them passable.  If Strava could track trail maintenance activity like a KOM for a given segment, then it could communicate to other users (or volunteers like me!) what segments are in need of attention.  Local advocacy and trail maintenance organizations could form a "club" and direct resources accordingly.  It seems like a pretty easy add and application of some basic business logic (e.g. if last maintenance date is >30 days from today, delete current KOM) it would be a very useful tool.

  • Would it be useful to others to be able to set the weekly activity chart on your profile page to display default to your preferred metric (time/distance/elevation)? The current default is distance, and along with elevation is a poor training metric. I ride road, CX, gravel, MTB and also run too so I'm not interested in seeing distance illustrated. *Time* spent training is surely much more useful for multi-disciplinary athletes to be able to see at a glance? I can't be alone?

  • Hi - I'm a cyclist. I don't really have much interest in people's dog walks or swims. It would be great to have a filter in the feed to show/hide different activity types. I'm really happy if my friend does a 100km bike ride, not so much if he walks to the shops. So hiding his walks and keeping his bike rides would reduce the noise in my feed and probably earn him more kudos as otherwise he'd be muted...

  • Thank you for providing the Gear-section where I can add new components.

I have a suggestion for you regarding this. Because all components will be "retired" as of today one can not retire components in the past. A feature like "retired at <<DATE>>" would mean we also would be able to make a complete list of all components used and all the new components and the km calculation would be correct. Right now it is only possible to maintain the list of all components if you do it from the very beginning.

  • When we make or join club event, our group members have a healthy discussion on stops, changes to the route, who is coming, any changes requested etc. However, the discussion is only available on Strava web but not on Strava App (iOS). Can we have comments and discussions for club events in the Strava app please.

  • I want “skateboard” added to sport category. It will allow me to do the same recording of distance that i do for my 5k/half marathon and biking activities. The reason that is important is because of being able to track and share progress of healthy activities helps to motivate me in improving my running/biking. I enjoy adding pictures of my run/bike ride to strava sessions as a way of making each session special instead of repetitive training. An example of when I needed that was skateboarding today and wanting a way to record length of physical activity, distance traveled, and collecting pictures of areas traveled in same app as my running and biking.

  • Fergal Downey - The GPS data, or at least Strava's interpretation of the data, isn't even accurate enough to know whether someone was riding as part of a group or not, much less who was in front and who was behind in a given group at a given time.  I know I have been shown as riding "with" a group of others who I never even saw during the ride, much less was riding with at any point.

  • PRIVACY CONTROLS - PRIVACY GROUPS

The inclusion of privacy groups, such as trusted circles or acquaintances with adjustments allowing for visibility into one’s activities at different granularities would allow for more connections and a larger network, and more information shared amongst those that are known on a more personal or “real life” basis. Suggested controls would be time of day / date visibility, privacy zones, profile statistics, etc

  • Search and compare on a specific date.
Search works for "Today", "this year" or "all time". A useful addition would be to search by date so that I could compare to others that rode on the same day.
I rode a Sportive recently and it would be great to see what times my fellow riders did in similar conditions.

  • PHOTO PRIVACY

It would be nice to set privacy separate for photos and for an activity.

I want to have the activities public so I am in global leaderboards, but I don't want to have photos on activity public.

  • Per Didier HERRERA  and Marcelo Araújo's comments, please add separate options for MTB, road, and gravel biking.  Also add downhill mountain biking with the same functionality as downhill skiing (i.e. chairlifts not counted as riding). I've posted about this before as have many others.  It's a major gap in the app, especially considering all of the other sport options.  I can easily imagine mountain bikers especially abandoning Strava because of this missing functionality.

  • Trail maintenance idea. I am a cyclist, runner, trail runner, and mt. biker, along with that i am a trail volunteer. Is there a way to pin issues people run into on trails? Trees down, wash outs, etc. Strava is one of the bigger activity trackers used in my area and it would be very helpful if there was an easy way for the person to pin the location on their route, then send thru email or text to the local trail crew to help locate it and fix it.

  • After every workout, we are asked about effort. I think something more localized for pains would be great because injuries that build up over time are very common in running and other cardio sports. Being able to audit when the injuries started could be very helpful in recovery.

  • I have four ideas. First, I feel it would be a good idea to add a feature where you can see all of your personal and worldwide records in one spot. This will allow people to see how many records and segments they have saved, and this will save time so that they will not have to manually check each specific segment to compare to their other times, and with their friends. Even the option to see how you have progressed on these segments would be useful in this section. There have been times I was wondering how many records I had, and I also wanted to see how many my friends had, but there is no way to do this. My second idea is to add a feature where you can see all of the segments/trails you have ridden on a map, and the times for them. For example, there could be pin points at the start of the segments/trails, and you could hover over them to see your fastest time. This way, you can compare where and how fast you have ridden with yourself and your friends, and it would be a huge training motivator. Even making the option to add photos to these specific segments and trails would be interesting. Third, I suggest there be a point system. On your profile, you would have a certain amount of points based on how much you ride and contribute to Strava. For example, every mile on a ridelog could give you a point, every 10 miles gives you 10 points, etc. Every time you beat your personal record, gain a worldwide record, add photos, segments, and even comment on other athletes' ridelogs, you could gain a certain amount of points. In this section, you could see exactly where you got the points from, and exactly how many. And last, there should be a mountain bike specific section. Here, you can see trails, their difficulty ratings, descriptions of them, and of course, the records. I am aware this is what Trailforks has, but it would be interesting to see on Strava as well, since it is technically the number one app for biking (and running/swimming), and it is more active.
