How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • The issue I have is that I am a coached athlete so the training plans and sessions I carry out are the intellectual property of my coach and as such I cannot share them with the public or with Strava followers that are not coached by my coach and in my team. This issue is particularly bad when using Zwift as it defaults to show a screenshot which includes all the session details which then appears on Strava. Unfortunately we have had instances of an uncoached rider following a coached riders training plan and sessions by following the coached athlete on Strava

My suggestion would be to add a different type of privacy setting when sharing rides maybe called team mates or personal friends. I could then safely share my training sessions with my coach and team mates without risking IP infringement. This different setting would also be useful for other reasons. There are some rides that you only want your close friends to know about!

The current followers category is rather too all encompassing. Mine includes club mates, people I have raced with and talked to in the car park, family, people I have ridden with in the past, supporters etc. There just needs to be a bit of differentiation between the amount of access I allow to my training data based on trust.

  • why does Strava not have skateboarding? Surfskating is a long distance activity along with longboarding so would be really useful to have it on strava

  • Please add other social media platforms like MEWE to sharing to social media ... I am exploring FB alternatives and I think MEWE is a good candidate due to their stance on personal information and ad targeting ... so if I give FB the boot I want to easily be able to share my Strava exploits from the app ... or if that is too much to ask ...

... add a copy link to the activity other than the 'embedded' link as I am not a blogger

  • I really miss more extensive audio feedback like available with Addidas Runtastic app.

When walking I prefer to get audio notifications on distance, duration of last period, speed and pace. in runtastic there are more available, but i use the mentioned ones, now with walking i only have strt/stop & pause which does not have any added value in my opinion.

now i use both apps to complete the features, but rather have similar feedback in Strava

Below the screenshot of the function in Runtastic

  • How about getting creative when Title of Activity is generated. Currently whenever the activity is completed, Strava auto generates activity name such as Lunch Run, Morning Ride etc.

How about a feature that can detect a trail being walked on or a hike being followed on a mountain via a trail and then auto generate Activity Title like - Hike to Mt Washington via Tuckerman Ravine or "Walk at Boardwalk Cape Code Rail Trail"

This feature can also detect elevation and really get specific with title to include Ascent or Descent in the case of Mountain Hikes.

This feature will significantly improve user experience where users will go back and rewrite the title to be ver specific. It can also help them writing creative titles.

I have not seen this feature in any of Apps. It would be a value add. I always go back and replace title with specifics rather than just Morning Run or Lunch Hike etc.

Will look forward to hearing from you

    Anand

  • Alpinism/Mountaineering to be added as a new sport category

There are several sports categories but nothing that is really suitable for mountaineering (i.e. climbing major mountain peaks involving a mixture of outdoor climbing, glacial traverse/crossing etc with technical equipment). The only category that is this can be currently classified under is 'Hiking'.

I just think this would be a simple but good addition to the sports categories for activities.

  • Section for Routes Ideas.

The routes features I need and have been asking for many years now are the simple ability to sort, filter and search by name, distance, maybe elevation and maybe distance from current location. I'm not the only one who has asked for these. It's actually often quicker to create a new route than try and find it in the hundreds you have saved. It's a real pain and bugs me every time

  • This is my new feature suggestion.

Use case: I'm looking for me earlier training pass to get the route that I want to run again. Maybe it was several years ago so it could take some time to find it. But I know that the route is passing a certain street/track.

Scenario: I'm displaying my personal heatmap. I can see that the street/track where I was running is blue. I click on that street/track on the heatmap. I now get a list of all my running passes that included that street/track. I can now easily select the running pass with the route that I need.

That would be great. Have a nice weekend.

  • Route Planner to Automatically Identify Low/Non-Travelled Sections Using Heatmap Data

The Strava heatmap is incredibly useful for planning bikepacking trips and gravel rides in rural areas where the "roads" that google displays may not truly exist or be unrideable (uncleared trails, gated roads, etc). However, the process I currently use to make sure my planned route is reasonably rideable is to pull up two screens (one with the route and one with the heatmap) and make sure every section has adequate tracks on the heatmap. For long routes, this is incredible time-intensive and error-prone. It would be much better if the route planner could give some indication of sections that need attention.

One way could be a toggle to switch the elevation profile to a "usage" profile with the y-axis representing the relative usage of each point along the route. I.e. "100%" means that particular point is the most-travelled point across the entire route and "0%" means there are zero tracks on the heatmap for a particular point. This way you could quickly identify sections of the route that are far less travelled compared to the rest of the route which would prevent mid-ride issues.

  • Filtering activities we see from Athletes we follow.

It would be great to be able to filter the activities we want to see for athletes we follow, for example I only want to see running activities for a distance of 5km plus, I'm not terribly interested in seeing people log multiple activities for the one workout which includes 50m walks to a coffee shop etc. Some people may only want to see riding activities etc. I feel like the feed is becoming loaded up with mundane activities where people are tracking steps etc

  • Why are kickbikes/footbikes not included on your activity list?

They are great tools for reaching peak fitness and also a great sport per se.

I hope one day to see them on your list!

    Thanks.

  • Add a hotkey to temporarily HIDE the planned route in the route planner.

I really miss the ability to temporarily hide the planned route in order to see the heatmap and aerial imagery below it. In Komoot, just by holding "M" on your keyboard, you temporarily hide the route so you can see what's below it. Releasing "M" brings back the route.

  • Please show triathlon as 1 activity - showing all 5 stages)  rather than 5 separate activities, if the user has selected triathlon as the activity and completed it.

At this late stage to be displaying Triathlon as 5 distinct activities - i) swim ii) "activity"  iii) ride iv) "activity" v) run is really inexcusable. I guarantee there are more triathletes on strava than many of the niche sports already added; and more users will benefit from the improvement, than benefit from any of a dozen quirky features you've decided to add. With thanks.

    • Hello strava programming department

I would like to have a feature of segment records associated with my different bikes and the overall record like right now.

So if I do a new segment record with my ultra fast aero bike, I will never be able to get a new segment record with my mountain bike, even when I do more watts on this segment.

So it would be nice to have an extra column in the activity analysis with the overall best (2nd, 3rd) time of the segment (right now), and the best (2nd, 3rd) with the bike I rode the segment in that special activity.
Also this information (bike specifial record times) should be updated to your bikecomputer for example on my Garmin watch/Garmin Edge 1030+, so if I choose this bike activity profile I have the specificial bike segment records active (plus the overall best times also).
It will give me a big motivation boost speeding some segemnts again with my mountain bike for example.

      Thank you and kind regards,
      T.E.R.Sven

  • Hi,

I’d like to get the full amount of my KOM on Mobil App as there is restriction of maximum of 100 KOM.

If we have more than 100 KOM we’re not able to see them in Mobil App and I except from Strava that we can have all data aligned between the server and the Mobil App.

This is important for the all community to have a clear and correct transparency of our results!!!

It’s why I’m asking Strava to improve and update without limitation the results of KOM in Mobil App.

Thank you to take into consideration this request.

    Regards

    Didier

  • Jeff Dunn ▫️ - There are a lot of times that segments need to be edited or deleted after being created.  I have had a bunch of instances where I found that someone had created a segment after a race or when a trail was newly created and the segment was "bad" in some way.  Usually the start or end points are in bad locations or maybe multiple people made almost identical segments.  Through some sleuthing, I was able to track down the creator of the segment and got them to fix the problem or just delete a duplicate segment.  I know there have been times when I created a segment, then someone would go and create a duplicate one at some point in the future. Without being able to find who that was, I went back and deleted mine so there was no longer a duplicate.  Another situation is if a trail changes noticeably from one time to another.  The "old" segment now doesn't really apply so people frequently want to delete those and just have the good segment on the correct new trail.

  • I want custom heart rate zones per sport. It will allow me to have a better idea of the effort exerted on each workout. The reason that is important is because heart rate zones can vary significantly between sports. For example, my heart rate zones for swimming, running, and biking are all different

The same custom heart zone system in place could be reused. A single user could create multiple custom heart rate zones and specify one or more disciplines for each. That way you could show me the correct graphics based on the exercise I performed.

  • A way to filter the activities shown on the home screen in the Strava app would be nice.

I don't want to see all activities from my connections, just the ones that interest me.
E.g. I do not care about all the (short) commutes, e-bike rides or lunch walks; they distract from the actual runs or (long) bike rides.

This could also solve another suggestion (with many votes!) to be able to hide 'virtual activities' from the home screen.

A very simple filter would be to turn on/off certain types of activities on the home screen (you can still see them if you go to a person's profile; just like when a person uses the 'mute activity' setting for their own activity).

A slightly more complex filter would be even better in my opinion: turn on/off activity types, with an extra condition, preferably 'distance'. So something like:

    Show activities

[running] if longer than [0 km]
[walking] if longer than [10 km]
    etc

If the default value for this is just '0km' you still have the same behavior as the current situation, but the option to be more specific.

Another option to configure this filter is the 'negative' version ('hide unless' versus 'show if'): "Hide activity [walking] unless longer than [10km]", but I guess that's less intuitive for most users...

  • I wish Strava could give a pace and HR breakdown like it does for an activity but for all activities mashed together for a week and for a month, or just for running.  I'd like this because it would tell me what my over all easy vs hard ratio is (80/20 often recommended), and how much time overall I'm spending in my aerobic base building HR zones during different parts of the training cycle.

  • This is a call for an explore function for other sports, like inline-skating.
As I'm not only a cyclist, but also a inline-skater I would like to compete on the segments for inline-skating. As skating is less popular then cycling, there are a lot less segments. This means that I specifically want to search for segments, as randomly riding doesn't give much segments. At this moment I can make segments myself, but I can not find segments made by others (and they have no easy way to find my segments). This also means that I can not use the segments to find good skating places (which would be a good way, as skating requires good streets).

  • I would like an option for seeing "moving time" rather than only "elapsed time" for lap statistics. The reason that is important is because many of us participate in biking events (charity rides, etc.) which are not races and it would be nice to see full stats - like average speed - by lap, despite pauses at rest stops, etc.

  • search training (activity) for a date range

it would be very convenient and fast to be able to search through workouts in a date range directly in the search field.

for the syntax you could use one of those already known as the three dots ...

    example 2021-10-01...2021-12-31
