How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • I don't see a metric for elevation grade %.  This is a deal killer, since Ride With GPS has that. Is it possible to add this to Strava?

  • Hi - I would like you to consider adding a new sport type: it would be labeled as either "Speed Hike" or "Trail Run". When I practice this sport myself and record activity, I struggle to attribute the activity to either "Run" or "Hike". Typically a Speed Hike or Trail Run race happen in the mountains with massive elevation gain (1000+ meters) and so speed will be considerably lower than an equivalent "Run" distance but considerably faster than an equivalent "Hike" distance. I want to avoid comparing apples with oranges in my activities. So having a separate category makes sense for proper comparison of activities, and Speed Hike or Trail Run are super popular now, particularly among extreme triathlon races.
    Thank you for consideration :)

  • Jason Lamoreaux, it should be easy to solve the problem and separate the cycling disciplines between road, mtb, gravel, ..., and ther e-* variants as Marcelo Araújo and countless others have suggested here.

First about the history of data, they should do absolutely nothing. Each cycling discipline should be setup as subset of the "cycling" we have today and only be allowed to be picked by the user after he creates a compatible equipment indicating that it wants do record some of its activities as a specific cycling discipline. That should deal with the users that don't known how/want to do that as they would keep counting only for the general cycling like today.

Each subset of cycling should have their own leader board and stats, but every activity should update the general cycling leader boards and stats as well. That way we could for example keep count miles/km for cycling as whole while having different kom/qom for each cycling discipline. It is up to the user to what data is more interesting.

  • Soren - this was not a case of pictures from a different camera with different format metadata. My phone backs up to network storage. The exact same picture when attached via web browser on my desktop or phone was not placed on the map, while it is placed on the map when uploaded on the same phone using the app. The browser- and app-based uploads have different paths/results.

Maybe it was fixed recently - I stopped trying with a browse since it was annoying to delete and then re-add from the phone.

  • Suggestion:

I feel the challenges could do with a spicing up, and I have thought of a way that could inspire some more competition. At the moment we get the same badges every month, i.e 5k, 10k, run climbing, run endurance, etc.

We could have more challenges of varying difficulties and have a points scoring system. For example, August 5k run could be worth 1 point. Cycling 1000km in a month could be worth 10 points and Everesting could be worth 25 points or something like that. I could see people becoming quite competitive over their points tallies and it would definitely provide motivation to knock off more challenges.

    Thanks for your consideration,
    Sam.

  • Hi there! I would like to propose adding scuba diving to the sports list. I switched to Strava so i wouldn’t need a separate logging-app for every sport. Even tho there are some scuba logging apps out there, they’re often not very user friendly (UI/UX). So I think it would be great if I could start logging my dives in Strava and centralise all my sport-data

  • SPORTS TRASH IN TAPE. SPAM WORKOUT.

We need a function to disable (filter) any types of subscribers' workouts in our feed. The main user wants to see run

ning, cycling and swimming workouts. Triathlon this is Strava 🏃🚴🏊

For example. I only want to see running workouts in the feed, and I don't want to see all the other workouts.

Triathlon this is Strava 🏃🚴🏊

Для примера. Я хочу видеть в ленте только тренировки по бегу, и не хочу видеть все другие тренировки.

  • I’m a big fan of the app and I use it a lot for my mtb rides.
Last summer a did a lot of paragliding and I used Strava to log some nice flights.

But there isn’t a option such as flying or paragliding.
Can you update it with also the option paragliding? All the stat of others sports will work straight away in the option paragliding.

  • KOM/QOM - SEGMENTS - OVERWIEW

When you look at the map of segments, all segments are red.

It would be a nice if the segments where you all ready have the KOM/QOM’s were fx. green on map and in the list and the ones you dont have still would be red.
It can be a bit confusing to overwiew which KOM you have and which you are missing, when eveyone have the same colour, espesially when you look at a area with a lot of segments.

It would be a lot easier to see which segments/KOM’s you dont have yet, and set a goal for them, if the have different colours.

  • Full support for line breaks in comments

Currently, when using line breaks in a comment, they are only shown in the mobile app, not in the web app (browser). I think it would be nice if line breaks would be fully supported, i.e., writing and displaying in the web app and the mobile app, because line breaks enable the users to write nicer comments.

The following two screenshots show the discrepancy in the current implementation.

  • After every workout, we are asked about effort. I think something more localized for pains would be great because injuries that build up over time are very common in running and other cardio sports. Being able to audit when the injuries started could be very helpful in recovery.

  • Marcu H, they could also list e-bike above MTB so they see it. I have always felt listing at the bottom is a big part of the problem.

Please give an option to not be advised of every single challenge joined by every single person I follow. This is among the most annoying things on Strava.

  • Sérgio Saquetim - I see what you are saying, but it isn't quite that simple unless you propose starting the new bike-specific leaderboards from scratch.  If you maintain an overall "ride" leaderboard and then just add leaderboards for each specific discipline, then it would help preserve the history, but only to a point.  Say for example, I have a KOM from 8 years ago where I didn't specify a bike type or maybe made a mistake and didn't update to the correct bike type from the default.  If this change was made, I would have to know to go back to that specific activity to edit the bike type so that it gets its proper credit under that bike type for the KOM, otherwise it would just show up for the overall "ride" leaderboard but be left off of the specific discipline.  Now consider those people who maybe are in 8th or 9th overall currently on the overall "ride" leaderboard but riding a bike different than everyone ahead of them.  That would mean that their time would now be the KOM for whatever bike they used, but only if they knew to have it labeled correctly.  Again, I think your idea helps, but only to a point.  There would still be a huge amount of error in the data sets both from the past and going forward since a large percentage of riders do not specify what type of bike they are using at all or just don't remember to change from whatever bike they have set as their default.

  • I have four ideas. First, I feel it would be a good idea to add a feature where you can see all of your personal and worldwide records in one spot. This will allow people to see how many records and segments they have saved, and this will save time so that they will not have to manually check each specific segment to compare to their other times, and with their friends. Even the option to see how you have progressed on these segments would be useful in this section. There have been times I was wondering how many records I had, and I also wanted to see how many my friends had, but there is no way to do this. My second idea is to add a feature where you can see all of the segments/trails you have ridden on a map, and the times for them. For example, there could be pin points at the start of the segments/trails, and you could hover over them to see your fastest time. This way, you can compare where and how fast you have ridden with yourself and your friends, and it would be a huge training motivator. Even making the option to add photos to these specific segments and trails would be interesting. Third, I suggest there be a point system. On your profile, you would have a certain amount of points based on how much you ride and contribute to Strava. For example, every mile on a ridelog could give you a point, every 10 miles gives you 10 points, etc. Every time you beat your personal record, gain a worldwide record, add photos, segments, and even comment on other athletes' ridelogs, you could gain a certain amount of points. In this section, you could see exactly where you got the points from, and exactly how many. And last, there should be a mountain bike specific section. Here, you can see trails, their difficulty ratings, descriptions of them, and of course, the records. I am aware this is what Trailforks has, but it would be interesting to see on Strava as well, since it is technically the number one app for biking (and running/swimming), and it is more active.

  • PLEASE ADD ONEWHEEL AS AN ACTIVITY

There are a few clubs already forming and I am a part of one of them who are making segments and making times. We currently set the activity as we are ice skating however some bikers like to say that they are ice skating as well and they wind up on our segments leaderboards stealing our thunder.

PLEASE HELP ME AND ALL ONEWHEELERS ON STRAVA!!

  • Of  course this will get lost in the cluster of stuff in here:

There is no place to really put this so.....

Remember when Strava was about BIKES...i honestly dont care about running or any other activity. Maybe do this, make another app JUST for bikes.

Not electric bikes or mopeds or horeback riding or whatever, BIKES.

Stravabikes app/webpage/etc and then one called stravarun, etc....

This whole platform has turned into a sh**show of everything in one place.

NO more sorting through challenges from other "sports". Separate this stuff...then make a killing charging for each app.

Because this whole platform is out of control.

  • Nathan Scanlan - In response to your first idea, there is a place you can go to see all of your records (KOM/CR) and same for other people.  If you use the web browser interface (not the mobile app), you can just look at your (or your friends) profile page and click on the tab for "KOMs/CRs".

  • The weather for a ride should be the range of temperatures and wind (etc.) during the ride, not the conditions at the start.  In Texas we start super early in the summer.  Strava says it was 75F during my ride yesterday, but it was close to 95F when I finished.  And the wind picked up.

    Think about it!

Da man ja unzählige Aktivitäten auswählen kann, wäre es toll auch die dazugehörige Ausrüstung dabei zu haben.

  • Please allow flagging of individual segments for bad GPS data instead of an entire activity. Removing an entire activity from the leaderboards is not fair if only one segment is inaccurate.

  • Consider allowing MTB clubs to manage all segments within a trail system. As trails change (trail extensions, re-routes to due erosion, etc) it would be great if the group responsible for those changes could update the segments and name for consistency.

  • Easy idea: add Elevation Gain to All Time Stats for cycling. Distance alone does not tell the whole story for those of us who like to ride the mountains or ride off road. It would allow me to save time from adding-up my total elevation gain over time by researching each years stats and adding them-up. Comparing stats with friends is fun and this is an important stat!

  • Super easy idea: allow 'zooming' in vertically on speed graphs in the mobile app; when a swim/row/run (where speed is measured in time per 100/500/1000m) contains one or more rests, the scale of the graph becomes so large that is is completely useless. It would also help if long-pressing on a point of the graph would display the numerical value on that point of the graph.

  • I would love to see Strava add a comments/dialogue section to each segment page. This would allow users to discuss road conditions, safety, water stops, road closures and other key items about the segment. Would make it interactive to be able to see and plan for a segment before you go tackle it.

  • The issue I have is that I am a coached athlete so the training plans and sessions I carry out are the intellectual property of my coach and as such I cannot share them with the public or with Strava followers that are not coached by my coach and in my team. This issue is particularly bad when using Zwift as it defaults to show a screenshot which includes all the session details which then appears on Strava. Unfortunately we have had instances of an uncoached rider following a coached riders training plan and sessions by following the coached athlete on Strava

My suggestion would be to add a different type of privacy setting when sharing rides maybe called team mates or personal friends. I could then safely share my training sessions with my coach and team mates without risking IP infringement. This different setting would also be useful for other reasons. There are some rides that you only want your close friends to know about!

The current followers category is rather too all encompassing. Mine includes club mates, people I have raced with and talked to in the car park, family, people I have ridden with in the past, supporters etc. There just needs to be a bit of differentiation between the amount of access I allow to my training data based on trust.
