How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Please add kick/push scooters or foot bikes to the activites list within the Strava App!

I use a kick/push scooter (Swifty Scooters - SwiftyONE) for my exercises and workouts as well as an alternative to walking long distances - I’m an Above knee amputee and use my scooter to maintain my fitness levels and for my physiotherapy.

It’s so frustrating trying to log my exercises and distances covered as I do not use a bike or run. I would like to accurately record my kick/push scooter sessions. So please add kick/push scooters to the activites and gear.

I think in Europe they also called them foot bikes, These types of scooters are not e-scooters and can be used on different types of terrain as they have much larger wheels. They are a great form of exercise.

  • Currently it is only possible to click on the graph to see information every 7 seconds or so it seems.

I want to be able to highlight parts of the graph and see the averages for that part only. The splits every 1 km do not allow me to compare across what I know to be similar terrain, since the splits do not match.

  • Add tracking of gear/components usage time.

Currently the distance for each gear/component is tracked, which is very nice to see its milage. However, I think it would be also good to track a time and the time from last service (which need an option to mark a date of the last service). This could help to determine when next service is required. Adding a recommended service period would be also good and have warning when it is met.

    Thank you for considering this.

    Cheers
    Tomasz

  • Personal heat map layer on Route Builder

I would like to be able to be able to show a personal heat map layer on Router builder. The reason I would like this is so that I can create a route that is somewhere I have not been before. Currently I use two screens however it would be so much easlier if one of my personal heat maps could be a layer. I think this would be a great additional for those who like to explore a new city like myself.

  • Manage equipment (shoes/bikes/etc) on the mobile app

It would be really nice to not have to use the desktop app to add gear to your profile. That one missing feature is the only reason I go on Strava on my desktop computer at this point vs on the mobile app.

  • I’m not a fan of the new way to get KOM stats. It was much better to be able to see my position in all my relevant groups in one view - especially my age group. My feeling is that you’re giving too much emphasis on the rather weak local legend feature.

  • I would also add, in line with my previous suggestion above, to be able to visulalize own performance history on specific distance (400m, 1km, 1mile, 5km....)

And then, if tags can be use to filter activities for closer analysis and comparisons

  • I want Nordic Skiing to have Skate Skiing versus Classic Skiing as different Sport Activities. The reason that is important is because of both techniques are skied on exactly the same trails, so basic training data (like km, pace) is muddied by this overlap, while KOMs and PB's will inevitably be dominated by Skate. It would be easier for racers & coaches to be able to see and record these two techniques discretely (e.g. how many hours/km of classic skiing this week, improvements in pace for skate). Options like substituting a different activity like Backcountry Skiing fails, because there's overlap between Nordic Skiers and Backcountry skiers. Help before the winter comes would be greatly appreciated!

  • Gear management – need option to un-retire components

For bikes/cycling we need an option to un-retire or pause gear components, i.e., for correct accounting in the standard approach of changing bike gear such as wheels, cassette, etc.

For me ist seems that this could be easily achieved by either

    • - providing an option to un-retire components
    • - adding a third status "paused" which can be undone

Of course, only one component of the same type must be active at any given time, all others retired (or paused).

This looks like a very simple change and I would hope that this could be implemented in due course.

In the longer run, it would even be very attractive to be able to reuse components on multiple gears and track that correctly – i.e., they (wheels, etc.) could be in "paused" status on one bike and active on a different bike – handling overall usage of the component correctly across the different bikes.

  • In Strava you have 2 goals: a weekly goal and a yearly goal.

In the winter I ride a little bit les (I frequently miss my weekly goal) than in the summer (when I sometimes double my weekly goal). Therefore I wish the possibility to set different weekly goals.

An idea. Could you also add the ability to change wheels on bikes? I mean I have a bike with 3 sets of wheels. I would like to be able to manage them when I load the activities and consequently how many km I do with a specific set. Another thing would not be bad to be able to keep a diary, for example for bikes where, for example, you report a service at km or a fall or as a reminder when you need to bring them to service for the guarantee by putting a deadline and a mileage limit.

  • Family Account

Similar to the Spotify/Netflix Mode (4/6 accounts, one membership). I am a premium user since 2014. I like to challenge my family and see how each of my kids perform against certain segments both cycling and running. However a premium account for each family member is an overkill when something similar can be achieved across other complementary services/platforms. I also love the weekly relative effort analysis (premium feature) however again is something we can now find in other services as well at a more convenient price if bought as a family and if all of us have the same hardware brands (as we have). When Strava took out some of the analytics features to the base account I lost some of the playful moments with my friends and family. So unfortunately I'm one of the folks that decided not to renew Strava and leave premium to create my family and our segments in other platforms. It has been a great journey folks and you rock but unfortunately I'm not anymore your target market as you seems focus and happy with the individuals models (2 months to gift a subscriptions IS NOT THE SAME).

Note: In the past we had a big forum discussion around family account but I don't see it anymore here in the new forum. Does anyone know where to find it?

  • Perhaps the Strava app could be updated to feature a dark mode, especially when flicking through the feed in the early hours. Nearly every other app out there has a dark mode - shouldn’t Strava join the club?

  • What I’d like to be able to do is apply some sort of filter to people I’m following. I know I can just mute them, but I’d like some more granular control over what I see and don’t see.

For example, I’d like to be able to filter out the following as I have no interest in seeing some activities

    - Walking the dog type rubbish.
    - Non-Cycling/Running/Swimming activities
    - Activities under a certain duration and/or length
    - Activities flagged as a ‘commute’

Ideally, I could define some filters and then selectively apply them to one or more people who I’m following.

Are there any plans to enable this sort of functionality?

  • Very nice, the Scrum methology of adding whises to your application :-).

I want to be able to adjust the types of sports I do in my app profile settings. It will allow me to see the number of activities per sport I do. The reason that is important is because of I don´t run or swim, but am active on several other sports, which I cannot see at my dashboard. An example of when I needed that was kind of every day.

My walks are not visable, as you can see in my screenshot.

  • As a mountain biker, I should be able to view total equipment hours so that I can keep track of important service intervals.

Suspension service intervals are specified in hours, not distance.

  • Under stats, there's no option to view total miles for WALKS or HIKES. This is not tracked any way besides a post in the newsfeed. Walking/Hiking miles don't even contribute/appear in your overall activity stats which is ridiculous. Why is swimming a stat but walking and hiking isn't? I'm sure more people walk/hike than swim.

For clubs/challenges, there's no way to have a TOTAL miles all time view, only a weekly view of total miles which is ridiculous.

    Feature Request:

    1. Add Walks and Hiking Stats under your Activities
    2. Allow Total miles view for clubs and challenges

  • As a MTB trail liaison for a park in my area I was wondering if there was a way to see the Count/Summary data under the heatmaps.  We are looking for info to show the increase in users on our local trails due to covid covering both Pedestrians and Bikers.  Where we could show last year month X had Y Activities and even better to see # of Runs/Hikes/Pedestrian Events and # of Cycle Activities in that period.

  • Strava Challenges are a month long. However club leaderboards are only a week long. This makes it impossible to get a meaningful sense of accumulated distance/time etc.

I have created a group of runners and we have a go at the month long challenges. However, as the leaderboard resets after a week, the app does not allow us to see each other’s accumulated distance beyond one week, meaning the leaderboard is meaningless beyond a week. The only way around this is to set up a separate spreadsheet and add our data to that, which is clunky and isn’t a solution, just a workaround.

Solution? Provide the option in Strava to reset the leaderboard on a weekly/monthly/annual basis.

  • Reinforcing the request by Abbey M to have 'Skateboarding' and/or 'Longboarding' activities.

I mostly do long distance skating (LDP - Long Distance Pushing/Pumping), and with endomondo shutting down, the community is now settling with Strava and recording activities as 'Inline Skating'. This isn't fair to inline skaters (they're can be faster than us longboarders), because our results show up in the Segments they maintain and compete.

It would simply be a "copy" on the 'Inline Skating' activity, only called Skateboarding or Longboarding, and with the capability to have Segments for this activity type.

Make FlyBy possible on a ride by ride basis and put a button on the ride web page so that you can turn it on easily...

  • I’m still amazed Strava doesn’t provide basic filtering on the feed page. Why do you make us scroll past every dog walk, warm up/cool down, 2 mile commute both ways, accidental start/stops, and every other type of activity people don’t care about? I’ve been a paying member for years but am seriously consoling not renewing because my feed is littered with junk. At a minimum, a filter by type. I’m a cyclist. I don’t care to see runs/walks/weights/yoga/swimming. I have a background in computer programming. This can’t take more than a day or two. This has to be a conscious decision not to provide a filtering feature. Why???

  • iOS and Android each have a "dark mode" or "dark theme" built-in, but the app builders choose whether to enable this feature.  I ask Strava to do so.  Strava's bright white background with dark text results in unnecessary battery drain on AMOLED displays, and it's not ideal for the user's vision in low-light conditions.  I do turn the brightness of my device all the way down in low-light conditions, but Strava's legibility at a glance on my MTB rides at dawn would improve if Strava made a dark theme.  A night mode where red or orange is the dominant color would be even better.

  • SPORTS TRASH IN TAPE. SPAM WORKOUT.

We need a function to disable (filter) any types of subscribers' workouts in our feed. The main user wants to see run

ning, cycling and swimming workouts. Triathlon this is Strava 🏃🚴🏊

For example. I only want to see running workouts in the feed, and I don't want to see all the other workouts.

Triathlon this is Strava 🏃🚴🏊

Для примера. Я хочу видеть в ленте только тренировки по бегу, и не хочу видеть все другие тренировки.

  • There would be awesome if you could add dogsport activities due to respect for the other activities like running, bike, xc skiing and so on. Just like Zahra suggest.
Normally the leaderboards get crushed when people use dogs. Then the people using dogs get flagged and others on the leaderboards gets irritated

  • I would like to suggest that you make a 'loop' segment.  These segments are a loop, with no fixed start or stop location.  A runner can complete the segment by starting at any location and finishing at their start location.

Many times I run a segment but it is not complete because I started at a different spot than the 'segment start' point.  Of course it does not register that I ran that segment.

An example of a loop segment appears below

  • Allow components to be suspended and then reactivated - Like Alessandro, I have bikes that I swap chains, wheels and tires, depending on the season and event. I would like to be able to manage them when I load the activities and consequently how many km I do with a specific component. A simple "Reactivate Component" feature would be a bit help

  • I'd like to see KOMs / QOMs by age group for us age-challenged but not overly physically-challenged folks.  I'm in the 65-69 age group and it is basically impossible for me to get a KOM but not too difficult for me to get an age group KOM.  I'm competing with my age group cohorts at the national and UCI levels, why not on Strava?

  • Would like to echo Simon P with the needed ability to hide virtual rides from my feed.  I'm all for virtual training, but I would rather be able to see real rides in the feed as my own preference.

I think that Whoop, also falls in this needed category to turn off.  Now we get to see how people sleep and their recovery graphs.....watching people kudos the pros with the wearable is mildly funny in my mind.
