How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Different FTP inputs for indoors/outdoors training:

A common phenomena for some riders, due to a number of factors (e.g heat effect (wrt HR), indoor trainer type, gravity, etc), is that indoor-FTP is lower than outdoor-FTP. This means that the functionality of the "fitness & freshness" charting feature is somewhat invalidated.

For example, if one's indoor FTP is say 25W lower than outdoor-FTP then  a "hard" indoor session at indoor-FTP will be logged at a lower intensity/zone (relative to user account's  outdoor-FTP). This will likely then understate "fitness" & overstate "freshness" values and so make the "form" value basically wrong. The compounding effect of this pathed through the tool's times series - if a rider regularly mixes their training between indoor & outdoor  - makes it inaccurate at best.

So, the ability to enter 2x different ftp values would make make this functionality & other session specific derivative variables such as e.g "relative effort", "intensity" more valid/ accurate.

  • My pool swim workouts recorded using my Apple Watch's Workout app DO automatically sync correctly with Apple iPhone Health (app) and Apple iPhone Fitness (app). I AM able to MANUALLY import these swim workouts by clicking the Import link in my Strava iPhone app (Settings > Applications, Services, and Devices > Health > "Import"). However, I want my swim workouts recorded using my Apple Watch's Workout app to AUTOMATICALLY import into my Strava account without me needing to click on any links or buttons. All I have to do is click one link and it's done - so easy to automate! I'd like to suggest this as a future enhancement.

  • Merging two records of the same activity (home-trainer Garmin + Kinomap)

Hi, I have a Wahoo home-trainer which I use with the Kinomap app, I also have a Garmin watch.

    We I do an activity:

    - Kinomap provides GPS, cadence, power info

    - the watch record the heart rate

Both generate a Strava entry, but I would like to have them merged into a single as currently it doesn' t really make sense.

    Here is an example pair:

    https://www.strava.com/activities/6688178763

    https://www.strava.com/activities/6688175025

It would be more convenient to have HR in the same Strava entry as cadence/power.

  • Please change the comment input box so that pressing the ENTER key does not post the comment. I have lost count of how many times I've "fat fingered" the enter key when going for punctuation and had half a comment get posted. Many apps have this just work as a "newline" key rather than "send".

  • Tracking Running Shoes

I am a runner and use Strava. I have a few different pairs of running shoes (a few road, as well as trail) and often I completely forget to add which shoes I used for a particular session. (And it’s quite a pain to do every time too) This causes the tracking of the mileage to be inaccurate and then one can’t be sure when you need to replace your shoes.

Is there a way that once a run is uploaded to strava (via Garmin connect or other such applications), that a popup appears to ask which of the your running shoes that you have loaded on strava were the pair that you used for that run?

Could this feature be added to strava? I think many runners who have multiple pairs of running shoes (and I assume that would be most runners) would find that feature most useful.

  • In Run mode, I rely on the audio cues to help maintain my pace, especially in a race. You can't look at the phone or pause the app to get current pace stats. Over longer races (10K, half/marathon) setting and holding a competitive average pace is important.   Generally, average pace when you cross the line determines where you place.  The audio cues right now give you your pace at the split and 1 mile intervals but only for the last split or mile. Could you add to that set of audio cues the cumulative average pace for the run? (that may be useful to other activities as well)

  • @Christophe Lyon about
Merging two records of the same activity (home-trainer Garmin + Kinomap)

    You can already do this.
Turn on heart rate broadcasting from your watch and connect the Kinomap app to your HR Sensor under equipment management. The Kinomap app will integrate the HR data into the activity.
I do this with garmin FR55, iPhone, and Elite Nero interactive smart rollers.

  • would it be possible that you could combine daily all the walks / cycles etc. into one total length (not to replace stats for longest walk, cycle, etc,).

For instance, I've done 3 cycles today, but would be easier for me to view one entry of the combined lengths rather than have 3 separate entries of 5 or 6k.  Likewise for walking, I can sometimes do a lot of tiny ones that i end up hiding but a combined day length would be more useful for me to see as a total.

  • Hey Dan Thurley Ⓥ, we currently don't have the option to do this, but there are 3rd party sites, such as GoToes that allow you to combine your own files. You will need to download the .fit, .tcx or .gpx files first. Hope this helps!

  • Increase the browsing data functionality through the web

A Feature I'm missing: More criteria for browsing data (for title, distance, average speed, average rythm, date interval)

It will allow me to select to browse grouped activities by distance, title, average speed, date (even combining some of them)..

It is an important feature, because people like browse over data to know how many times they are ride more than 100 kilometers (for instance) or how many times they have run over 5'30", or how many times have done a concrete route(by title) in a date interval

  • "Finding activities only by titles"

Currently when you want to find activities using "key words", the browser does the selection looking the key word in every part of the activity text but it would be good if we can find activities for a keyword only in the title of the activities

  • I think it would be very valuable (especially for mtb, hiking, trail running) to be able to "create a trail feature" within any given trail segment.  As a mountain biker who spends a lot of time lost in the forest, it would be nice to be able to refer to specific locations related to a "feature":

    • for navigation/communication i.e. "meet me at 'Joe's Big Rock Drop'".
    • for skills improvement / accomplishment - Since it would make sense for a "feature" to be some sort of challenge, like a difficult rock feature to climb or a jump over a creek, "clearing a feature" represents an advance in skill.

I've tried to do this with an individual trail segment, but most "features" cover only a very short distance - too short to be recorded as a trail segment, rendering this solution impossible.

  • Dear,
I would like to have an additional feature on the equipement to allow me following the service and maintenance on my bike.
The feature can also add a remember to not forget the service ex: remember 1000km time for small service.

it will allow us to follow the status of the bike and the cost of the bike. like I did on excel file :

    Thank you

    Best regards ,

    Xavier

  • I'd like to see the reliability of activity uploads improved. If there's any network disruption during the upload, it fails and loses the data (rather than retrying). Trouble is, this happens a lot when my ride finishes at home and the phone finds the Wifi and switches from 4G whilst it's uploading the ride. I see 'network error' and 'try again later' messages. Annoyingly, the data just gets lost - there isn't an opportunity to try again later.

  • Auto-tag your commute, it knows the route as you have already tagged it five or more times! Don't do this, as it is too time consuming to tag each one.

  • Add an option to default the privacy of certain activities, e.g. whenever a walk is added, it is automatically set to private where anything else goes by the profile default.

  • I use an app called HealthFit on my iPhone and it has an explorer score based on the number of tiles (on a map) you cross during a certain period or training session. It struck me this morning that it would be quite cool if Strava added it as another kind of award, of just tracking an explorer score (or both). The Local Legend award Strava added during the past year is proving to be quite popular and my idea would be another nice addition. Segments are for the fast ones, local legend for the consistent ones, and now one for the explorers among us.

  • It would be really helpful to be able to subdivide starred segments into subfolders just as you can do with bookmarks on an Internet browser. I star segments for a variety of reasons (e.g local climbs, climbs that are the right length for specific intervals, climbs that were highlights from riders I've been on on holiday) and it would really useful to be able to organise them accordingly. It would also be good to be able to search starred segments for ones that fall into specific ranges (e.g ones where my fastest time is 4-5 minutes, segments where i have averaged over 300w for over 15 minutes etc)

  • I am disappointed that I get less and less features in Strava. I joined 2 years ago and a lot of features are that were I was interested in are removed.  And I will not share any additional data like heartrate unless I get something back for it. I pay with info and would like to be paid back for it.

  • It would be helpful if Strava would upload the calibrated treadmill distance from a Garmin watch.

In summer I have to train on a treadmill due to the heat outside. I have a recent edition Garmin watch however the treadmill distance it measures is often off, sometime only by a little but many times it is quite far off. Before finalizing the run, I am able to use the Calibrate and Save feature where you can enter the treadmill distance you ran. This is the distance that uploads to Garmin and Training Peaks. Strava however takes the original watch distance.

For someone who tracks the distance run on her shoes, if the distance in Strava is off, my tracking is off. There is no way to amend the distance in Strava. As a result I have to delete the run from Strava and enter it manually. This work around at least sees a closer distance however it wipes out all the activity analytics - which I have now paid extra for.

I don't understand why Strava can't just upload the calibrated distance......

  • For seasonal trails to understand their conditions, it would be very useful to see who, or how many has recently completed a segment. Right now I can see who has been there "today", but (a) that does not help in the morning for planning (as no-one has gone yet) and (b) it does not help during weekdays, when weekends has all the activity. The data is clearly there, just not accessible beyond "today" view. Even better, if I could find those segment completions that have posted pictures of their rides. Heatmap for just the previous week (or other very recent time period) could alternatively be helpful.

  • I think a strava ios widget on the lock screen displaying activity of the current event being recorded would be great because then I could this data without any effort or risk. Currently only weekly stats are displayed. From a safety point too this is very convenient as without having to take my hands of the bike I can see current statistics of the activity. This feature was there on the endomondo and was super convenient.

  • I would like to see the analytics features expanded so that in addition to giving stats for the total activity on the overview page, or just the average and max values on the analysis page, you could see more detailed stats per lap, segment or zoom selection on the analysis timeline.

This would provide more objective and useful review of workouts to see whether improvements are being made or if certain areas should be targeted. The way you can select laps or segments on the analysis page is really good, but there are not really many useful stats there, just the graphs, max and avg values.

Please add more stats: Efficiency Factor (Power/HR) and HR Decoupling (Pw:Hr difference for each half as % of first half) as described by Joe Friel and others, Normalised Power which I think is needed to calc these stats). Maybe these additional stats would be subscriber only.

Two ways this might be implemented:

    1. add extra columns to the "laps" chart, in addition to the basic averages. This would only cover laps, not segments.

    2. A better way to show this might be to add the new stats on the analysis page so that whenever a lap or segment id selected it shows the relevant stats for that selection, same as it does currently for Max and Avg. This would be better as can cover laps and segments. Maybe create a separate section for these new stats that could be expanded as more are added. Or perhaps show the new stats on the line under the elevation chart like you do when a segment is selected currently.

  • When using the web browser page of "My Activities", instead of the current checkbox filter for commute activites, would it be possible to have a choice between:
    -All activities
    -Exclude Commute activities
    -Commute activities only

The mobile app (Strava for Android) has a similar but reverse problem where commute activities can be included (show all) or excluded (all activities but commute).
It is not possible see "Commute only" on the mobile app. A similar choice between the three mentionned above would be appreciated.

  • Customized heart rate & power zones:
    1) Would it be possible to add the feature of customized heartrate zones per sport? Now you can only set 1 set of zones but this differs between for example cycling and running.
    2) Could you provide the option to manually define the 7 power zones? Now they are based on FTP but I would like to manually overwrite this based on lactate test data which is more accurate.

Garmin Connect already provides both features.

    Thanks, Augustijn
