How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Super easy idea: allow 'zooming' in vertically on speed graphs in the mobile app; when a swim/row/run (where speed is measured in time per 100/500/1000m) contains one or more rests, the scale of the graph becomes so large that is is completely useless. It would also help if long-pressing on a point of the graph would display the numerical value on that point of the graph.

  • Anton V. thanks for your comment. We expanded the progress chart on the Mobile App to include all activity types, including walks and more. There is no longer a 3 sport limit. The order is based on how much time you’ve spent doing each sport type over the last 12 weeks, not the overall number of activities for each of them. So the sports you spend the most time doing will be shown first. We recommend you check out your walking and hiking stats on the Mobile App if you haven't yet. You can read more about this update here.

  • I think it would be great if you could list a weight vest and the weight being carried as apart of the gear option.

  • I would like an activity option of "run/walk." I've been walking a lot more in the last few years, and I've done several activities where I was both walking and running, especially on trails where I walk the uphills and run the downhills. Minor point, but it probably wouldn't be that hard to add.

  • On the issue of iPhone. I find more duplication of workouts among my iPhone friends than any other. Those duplications also seem to count in everything including local legend. It seems like an extrememly easy adjustment for strava to identify identical efforts and delete one.

  • I think you need a post about segments. After all, that's the defining feature of Strava.

In addition to the average gradient statistic for segments, I would like to see the maximum gradient. Now, to find the max gradient I scrub the graph provided when you analyze your performance on a segment, and that's not guaranteed to find the maximum value.

  • I think offering segment leaderboards by comparing simple watts would be be a great motivational tool for larger riders who can never get a KOM but clearly are working.

It would also help be a great training tool when focusing on power.

  • Hola,
    Gracias.

  • Good for me, something important is missing, which is that it tells you each KM you do in an activity on the watch 4 and if it were by voice better than with a beep, with that and the improvements they have made in the latest updates it would be 10.

  • Bonjour

  • Not really a question but a request. Your list of activities does not include uphill skinning, which would be defined as within ski area boundaries to differentiate it from backcountry skiing. Any way you could add this activity? Quite popular here in Colorado. This would allow me to track specific parameters such as heart rate, pace, elevation gain, time elapsed. Currently none of your activities fit this workout. Thanks

  • PLEASE consider adding "Motocross" as an activity option.  E-Bikes are not equivalent to a gas-powered motorcycle.  Many of us MXers train on mountain bikes, but it would be nice to use Strava for our motos as well. Thanks.

  • New Activity Type Request:   Add Electric Skateboarding as an activity type.

I use this app. to track routes, distances, elevation change, speeds, time in motion stats of my sessions riding my electric skateboard.   A typical session for me is between 20-40 miles with thousands of feet of elevation gain/climbs.  Total time in motion for each ride is between 90 and 210 minutes....hours of carving up city streets and windy mountain roads.

E Skaters already use the app to track and share rides.  There is a Bay Area Eskate group on the app that tracks activities under the E-Biking activity type.  I'm sure there are similar groups in many cities doing the same thing.  I think most anyone tracking their elec skateboarding rides on Strava chooses the E-Biking activity as it's the closest type of activity, or at least the only other motor-assisted activity type available to choose on Strava currently.

I understand that because motors are involved with electric skateboarding and e biking those activities are fundamentally different in nature than the other activity types most everyone uses Strava to track. Nonetheless,  there is a steadily growing community of folk that ride electric skateboards who want to track and share their activities/sessions, routes, top speeds and durations with their fellow skaters and their friends on Strava tracking & sharing their activities... whatever activity type that may be.

It would be wonderful if electric skateboarding was listed in the activity types.

  • rope jumping

Hi, I would love to have an option to select rope jumping to the activity list.

I had my hip replaced 8 months ago, so I cannot run, but I can do sipping, It's the closest I have to running now,  and it would allow me to record my progress much better and even better if I could add this as a group challenge

  • I would like to recommend once a segment has been created. It can't be modified or deleted. Too often I've personally seen and or know of others who had achieved a KOM or trophy and soon after the segment is notified by the creator again to change the results in their favor. Why not have it when a segment is created, it's created. Or maybe 24 hours before it locks down. Just a thought.

  • Can you please add Sailing as an activity type.
It would be the same as windsurfing, just with a different title and icon.

  • Sorry if this was already mentioned, did not want to dig through all the suggestions.

I thought it would be good to have more of a weighted score for challenges, something like:

1 Mile of Biking = 1 Weighted Mile

1 Mile of Biking at 5% grade = 1.5 Weighted Mile

1 Mile of Running = 5 Weighted Miles

1 Mile of swimming = 10 Weighted Miles.

This is basically to take in the actual exertion put versus time or miles.  This ratio could be defined as part of the challenge to push toward certain activities or to keep them all even.

What I find as an issue is that if I run 5 miles, that is like biking for 20 Miles but the activities I have an option for are Distance or Time which is fine is everyone does 1 exercise only but a lot of us do multiple.

The other issue I have with Time is Strava has this nasty habit of miscalculated Movement time, so I may go on a ride with my wife, same miles, same time, same everything but Strava sets my movement time 20 Min less than my wife and that is what is used to define time-based challenges.  So it may help to be able to disable Movement time for activities if it is really off.

  • Please create an Indoor Ride category or something.  Linking Peloton to Strava has broken things like tracking the mileage of my road bike unless I go in and tweak each ride to change the equipment.  I suppose I could write my own code for this but I shouldn't have to.

  • I think there should be an area to submit new sport recommendations. Strava seems to be consistently improving, expanding and innovating, which is why so many people love it! I know that you can record a sport under something else, and then edit it later to note what it really was, but what’s a bummer is when the stats conflict. For example; I think there should be a sport option for motocross/off-road dirt biking. I know so many people use this app to track their motorized rides. There is an ebike option, but it’s still not the same sport. It’s a bummer riding mountain bikes somewhere and trying to compare stats and data, only to find you see someone ended up using their motorcycle. This throws off goals and stats to try and track fitness in different sports. As someone who uses all forms of two wheels, it would be nice to separate them out.

That being said, I think there should be a recommendation area for sport options, because I’m sure this applies to other users. Understanding that there is such a vast variety of sports out there, I think the whole point of Strava is to be involved in community, and be able to push yourself amongst your own, similar and better abilities. Adding more options could only help this.

  • I don't need Strava to calculate my power, I have a power meter on my crank. It measures power in real time so it takes into account how and when I pedal.I don't understand why Strava calculates the average power recorded by the computer from the other values? It should be recorded in the same way as the rest of the values, speed, cadence, hr. Weight and ftp should not be a consideration if I have a physical power meter on my bike. You should add a function to disable power conversion for those with power meter. Example, the average power during a workout is 200W. However, strava calculates the ride and avg is 155W.

  • Strava is no longer just cyclist and runners. Need more sports in general. What I personally is missing is:
Cross country skate (as a classic cross country skier it’s frustrating that all segments are hold by skaters)
    Football/Soccer

  • I would like to see Strava select which bike I'm using based on either which Garmin device I'm using, or even better, which speed/cadence sensor I'm using.  This would allow users who have two Garmin devices, or one Garmin device with different sensors on different bikes to make sure their data shows up automatically, and that they won't forget to specify which bike they used after the ride.

I realize that Garmin may not share the sensor name/ID with Strava, but they definitely share the device model with Strava, so if you have 2 different device models, you could at least use that as a way to differentiate the default between the two bikes.

  • Hello,

I am using Strava live segment in my Garmin Edge 130 and i would like to recommend to add the option to see the Heart Rate during a Segment. This is more for a safe issue.

    Thanks and Rgds.

  • Wondering if Strava has considered including dragon boating in the sports available? There are over 2,000,000 dragon boaters in the world and using other boating options is not appropriate.

    Thanks
