  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

  • Can there not be feature changes to all wpeopl etc amend the 3 sports that have the tracking on the homepage? eg I cycle but don't run or swim, so I could change the run to hike or walk and the swim to say climb?

Also can we not create goals for other elements apart from just power, segments and distance? eg I want to do 6,000km / 230h / 55,000m elevation this year and would like to see my progress just like you can with the distance?

    Thanks

  • I absolutely endorse Mike Robinson's request to implement filters on activity feeds (https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360073654892/comments/360013422611).  I have some great friends who I wouldn't want to mute, but when they start posting half mile dog walks 3 times a day or separate warm-up/cool-down in addition to their main activities, which flood my activity feed, I do despair!  Like Mike, I think it would be a good draw to have this for paid members only.  I know of loads of people that would use this ... and pay for it.

  • Please add free text tags option to activity. So we can add multiple custom tags and later find/group analyze activities based on tag. For example find same races over years, add multiple gears to activity (even to non run/ride type) , group activities done with training group, etc . Possibilities are countless 😉

  • Just came to Strava member/subscriber from Endomondo closing down as Strava seems like the best option ive found.

What I really miss though are some features. (Maybe repeating some from other...but hard to get an overview with no headers on the seggestins....)

    - Estimated best distances - fastest 1km, 5km, 10km, hour etc on each sport listed on the activity
Graphs of this over time, how has my best 10km SUP-ing developet over time for example
List of personal records with links to the session

    - Activities list...Add a date filter= important. Good would be other filters, like distance etc.
    - Localized date format option, ex YYYY-MM-DD

    - Some sport options, Skateboard, Hockey, Dancing, Orienteering. Some could be solved with "Tagging", like separate Classic Cross Country Skiing, from Skate Cross Country Skiing (Nordic Ski here)

I like your Segment thing but it does not work for SUP:ing or other "out of track" activities. Would be nice if you could adjust sensitivity on the track similarity to allow more deviations, or best would be if the option was just between certain "points" A-B (or more).

  • Is there a plan in future updates to add a walking tab to the main screen to allow those who use Strava for walking as well as running and cycling to get a weekly total.

  • I think it is now time to split the "Bike" activity into two activities "Mountain bike" and "Road". Indeed, with the appearance of the new route suggestion feature, the only "Bike" activity is no longer adequate! Moreover, the comparisons of performances or others can be done only in this single activity if you practice MTB AND Road!

  •  I want to be able to tag "virtual rides" as workouts, just as I can tag normal rides.

I see no reason to treat virtual rides differently than normal rides in this regard, I go out/in for a ride and it can be a scheduled workout or just a joy ride.

  • I would like a strava function which works out how much co2 your are saving by commuting on your bike, walk, or run. I would like this function to have a rewards feature and associated challenges. It present in a clean and visual manner. I worked out I could be saving 750kg of co2 per annum by swapping my van for my bike on the daily commute, imagine how much the strava community is saving collectively.

  • Will be great to add "Paragliding" and maybe other types of free flight as a separate activity. This especially helps during hike & fly when I track both segments with the same Garmin watch.

    What we need for this:

        - separate activity type;

        - separate analytics fields

             - examples:

                      https://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/2670682

                      http://www.dhv-xc.de/xc/modules/leonardo/index.php?name=leonardo&op=show_flight&flightID=1328708&lng=english

                      https://www.xcontest.org/world/en/flights/detail:Purzellino/27.10.2020/11:32

This will help to separate flight from other activities and avoid using multiple platforms.

I think this especially important for clubs like : https://www.strava.com/clubs/744464

  • Hi Strava

    Regard; running mode

I would love to have the feature to get a notification after each KM where I get total KM - the time for last KM -  and total time. During listen to music, a voice will inform you after each KM. Very helpfull!!

Endomondo have it now, but closing in Denmark 31.12.20.. I use strava on the bike and endomondu when running, only because they have this feature.. Try it - to understand what I mean :-)

  • A Community thread for discussion of the primary 'Activity Feed' both for the website and the phone apps.

This is the primary port of call for Strava users and knowing about feature requests/possible improvements here will have the greatest impact.

  • Suggestion: The ability to customize the record screen during an activity would awesome - iPhone or Apple watch.  Seeing distance, speed, heart rate, and time is not enough.  Having options for avg speed, altitude gain, splits, watts, etc. would add so much live performance tracking.

  • Import Endomondo archive

I want an import option for Endomondo archives.

It will allow me to import activities, photos, routes and more, all provided in the exported archive from Endomondo. The reason that this is important is because of the closure of the Endomondo service. Many new (and old) Strava users will benefit from this option and it would be a convincing feature to get Endomondo friends on board.

  • Show the edit screen right after importing an activity

Currently, I have to do many hops every time I import an activity.

By showing the edit screen right after importing an activity, I won't need to close the health settings screen, then go to my feed, then reload it a few times, then open the activity that I just imported, for then to be able to edit it.

  • I'm not sure if anyone has already posted this idea, but it would be nice to have a way to update local trail conditions natively within Strava for MTB riders. Apps such as MTB project have this feature, but its often out of date. I think it could be valuable to have a section in ride information to submit trail conditions when adding photos, changing gear, etc. This could be a simple as a wet/dry slider bar much like the "how did that activity feel" metric. This would allow for your followers to see much more updated trail conditions.

  • Please make a separate topic for segments. Segments is, in my opinion, the most important feature of Strava. This is the feature that brought me to Strava and keeps me as a premium users. There is a lot more to discuss about segments other than segment leaderboards. For example, difficulty to discover interesting segments that aren't popular for whatever reason or issues with live segments.

Let's take this segment for example: https://www.strava.com/segments/26455567

This is a great trail running segment in local mountains that almost nobody knows about. Running this segment is like competing in a mountain running race - it would take around 2 hours or longer for most people to finish it despite the segment being only 7 miles long. But there is one problem - you will never find it. There is a number of shorter segments around - so this segment will never show up in the top ten in segment explorer no matter how much you try. Even if I zoom on the area that shows both start and finish of this segment and no other segments, Strava still won't show it. Why? Only Strava can tell. The only way to find segment is to see another person's Strava activity where they matched this segment. That is how I find the best segments, by the way.

Second, let's talk about Strava Live Segments. This segment apparently is fine and, despite having nearly 3000 ft of downhill, syncs as a live segment to my Garmin Fenix watch, which I am really happy about. Please keep it this way! But the only reason it syncs to my my watch is because it has just a tiny bit more uphill than downhill. It the owner had adjusted this segment a little bit so that the amount of downhill was just 100 ft greater, Strava would deem this segment dangerous and stop syncing it to devices. And yes, apparently, according to Strava this segment is less dangerous than a flat road where elevation drops just 13 ft over a mile. The latter won't sync to my Garmin watch. That seems just way too much arbitrary to me, especially when applied to running segments.

Please add a topic to discuss that.

  • I would like the heatmaps subscriber feature to be expanded, particularly regarding commutes. I would like to be able to view three different versions of my heatmap:

    1. a heatmap of my commutes alone
    2. a heatmap of all rides not tagged as commute, and
    3. a combined view with both

Adding this feature would allow me to analyze my own commutes and training rides separately, as well as share commuting paths with coworkers, and share my favorite rides in a given area with friends without a bright red commute cluttering the map. Additionally, when shared, it would make a great advertisement for why Strava premium is worth paying for.

Also, on the topic of heatmaps, the ability to create a combined heatmap for all activity types would be of great value to me. At present, I use the heatmap feature to see where I have explored in my area and where I haven't and is one of the main reasons why I'm a Strava premium subscriber. Being able to combine biking and running on one map would make that experience more immersive. In addition, an "all activity types" filter would include other ways of exploring, such as hiking, walking, e-scooters, and roller staking, that are all currently ignored.

    Thanks!

    Dave

  • I like the "explore segment" feature, and use it freqvently. However I think it would be much improved if it was possible to select other activities than just running or cycling. There are other activities I would love to explore segments for, for example skiing. I know a lot of people who run and cycle during the spring, summer and fall, but then go crosscountry skiing in winter, so I think a feature like this would be much used and appreciated by the same users who now are exploring the map for cycling and/or running segments.

  • We have a growing segment of athletes that are using strava and GPS products to capture motocross and offroad motorcycle related activities.  I know Strava support recommends using ebike category when uploading motorized or motor-assisted activiities.  Would it be possible to add a motorcycle activity category.  Motorcycle (gas powered and electric), ebikes and MTB can share the same trails/segments and it would help differentiating while providing an accurate and level playing field for all users.  I know I will be gettting an ebike and want to use some of the same trails used by offroad motorcycles.

  • Let's talk Socialisation!

While I am running or cycling, I meet along my route some other solo runners or road bikers.

assuming we are all connected with Starva, It would be great to mark myself in the watch the time I passed by other runner/biker and then to check in strava if this person would like to meet for a joined workout.   for this feature each user would indicate if he/she is visible for Socialisation workouts.

The workout session in strava will identify crossed paths by other users at the same time I did a workouts and suggest to contact only the users who enable visibility.

that is how we could create bigger and better communities that use strava for their workouts and get together.

  • As a Minnesotan who often bikes on the same trails throughout the year, it would be AMAZING if we could use the same segments, but be able to filter efforts and personal bests by summer versus winter. This is important because I spend equal time in the summer and winter biking, but winter biking is inherently slower and it would be a lot more fun to be able to chase my (and others') winter (snowy) personal bests instead of knowing I will never come close to the summer (dirt/road) ones.

An example of when I needed this is pretty much every time I get on the fat bike in the snow. I'm super motivated by chasing my personal bests and this could be a great way to be able to do this all year round.

  • I'd like an option to tell you you distance based timings for each run (5k, 10k etc) rather than just if you get a top 3 time.

I'd also like to be able to view a timeline based off each distance similar to how it works for segments so you can see your timings over previous years and how you have progressed/improved - or not as the case may be. It would be good if these graphs would be only for the specific distance and not part of a greater distance run (ie i don't care about my 5k time as part of a half marathon) I only care about my 5k time when I run a 5k.

Currently if you want to look back on runs it involves scrolling forevermore through your feed and is not really workable.

I love the new stats section that gives your pb's, maybe linking the graphs into that would be a possibility.

  • Why "treadmill" and "spinning" are not available to be inserted as manual activities? I can record HR and time directly on Strava app, and could insert additional data, as distance later...

As we already have "workout", "stair-stepper" as on, I don´t know why such this popular activities are not in the list.

  • Private Notes on a Public Activity:

I would love to have a "Private Notes" field available on activities that are otherwise public. This would be just one field that allows users to enter notes viewable only to themselves when looking back on activities that they don't care to have others see on otherwise public activities. This would allow me to enter private notes for things such as such as my nutrition intake on a long ride...or notes about aches/pains...or even journal types of notes about other experiences during the activity that I don't want public..."saw a blue heron perched on the post at Ol' Mac's farm...reminded me of Dad...miss you, Dad."

Following is a screenshot example of what I'm picturing that I came across while searching for any information about such a feature (credit to "DanDawson" from a different forum altogether).

  • Hello,

I think a nice added feature for running would be to add year Achievements for the specific year we are in. For example best 5k (10k, half) time for 2021. Some of us are past our prime so it would be nice seeing after a good run that I had my fastest time for a 5k for the year.

  • Add an option for shuttled/lift accessed mountain biking. This will solve many problems:

    1) Avoid issues with shuttled riders taking uphill KOMs

    2) Create an easy way to avoid unearned climb from counting to personal/challenge stats. Strava currently does not allow elevation from an activity to be excluded from stats (even when you intentionally pause during uphills). This could be separately fixed.

    3) Allow these types of activities to be recorded in one activity. Currently, many riders will split up activities into many and crop the shuttles. One activity that just ignores the uphills would solve this (it would be similar to the alpine ski mode, but include downhill mtb segments).

Many mountain bikers are loyal strava subscribers, but I think that will not last long with the current prices and the fact that trailforks is rapidly catching up in providing a comparable platform and actually gives a damn about mountain bikers and implementing features useful to them (versions of this simple feature have been posted for over 5 years on here)
