How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

  • Training plans in Strava are very difficult to understand and to follow.

You need to give the option to export, in a easy way, the Training Plan to the Garmin (or similar) platforms.

Currently, it is extremly easy to follow a Training Plan created by Garmin in the Garmin platform. But if I want to configure the Strava Plan in the Garmin platform (or similar), it is a lot of manual work that I think nobody is doing. It is a needed step, since when you are performing the training you are using a Garmina device or similar, you are not using the cellphone/computer looking at a calendar. What the user expects is the have everything configured in their device.

Without an easy way to be able to export the training plan to other platforms, the Training Plan module of Strava is pretty useless.

  • 'My Activities' - Accessing more data

I want to be able to access and manipulate/filter more data in the 'my activities' section on the web and have the functionality to export to an excel readable format. By adding in more columns - equipment, ride type, average HR, speed, calories etc and the ability to filter these it will allow me to do have a better understanding the cumulative training over a period that can be set by the user e.g last 4 weeks, previous calendar month etc. The reason that is important is it would help ensure I wasn't over training and could better understand fatigue and performance based on previous training. An example of when I needed that was recently I spent some time in Mallorca and would have been useful / interesting to see totals of the 6 weeks of the trip. Having the option to export and take it offline would also be great when looking at more complicated analysis.

  • Automatic segment flagging

Any segment KOM performance should be flagged where:

    1. the average power is greater than the max. power.. obviously has bad/questionable GPS data
    2. the segment's grade is greater than 1%, but power is zero Watts - segment likely in a car
    3. 3% + uphill segments of greater than 200m where average speed is greater than 50km/h - segment likely in a car

What about using the person's CP (cycling) curve to predict which segments should be flagged b/c that performance would be likely impossible for that rider?

What about using machine learning to predict which segment's to flag? Can teach by feeding it manual flags.

  • I would like there to be a feature where you can have “close friends”. This will allow to share workouts with either everyone that follows you or just close friends. This is important because when you are coming off an injury a run may not seem impressive to all your followers but to the ones that know about your injury it is.

  • Hi,

I noticed that the heatmaps are modified since yesterday. But now it's not very clear where you ran during your timeframe. I loved to check new roads and then see the map fill up. Everytime I was able to run a new road and go further then I was ever go before, it gave me a happy feeling!

Now with the new design, it is gone! I have now the walks and the runs combined. But I don't like that. I want a different filter for the run, walk & bycle. Now it's all mixed together.

Please bring it back. Also the color blue-red is not the same as before! It is not good visible.

This was the reason why I subscribed, because i loved the heatmaps!

    Kind regards.

  • I have a rather large number of routes that I created for longer trips. It would be helpful to create a folder for each of my trips and move the routes I intend to ride on these trips in there. Would help to keep a better overview and have things organised. Thank you for your consideration.

  • A PRIVATE PERSONAL DIARY / TRAINING LOG  TEXT BOX WITHIN ALL ACTIVITIES - that only you can see and not viewable by followers, So some protected data:

I think all athletes would welcome a private text box within their activities where they can log their own PRIVATE notes / training details / mental health log / personal log of details they don't want shared, but would be extremely useful to record on each activity.

I am sure people have things like their personal weight / medication / diet / training strategies they don't want shared with followers/public but would lover to track and trace over past performances.

I know I would benefit and surely some part of your activity you always want to record some private/personal reflections.

Come on Strava this should be easy - something private/personal, might help some athletes with their MENTAL HEALTH  as well as their PHYSICAL HEALTH with some protected data. Not everything on our Public activities has to be shared with our Followers.

A private section / personal log diary would be a great addition to each activity for our training/ health.

  • Your new heatmaps changes are partially good, but I really need to be able to set a specific time frame (start date and end date) to the heatmaps. I was relying on the heatmaps feature to do a project and now I can't do that anymore because the timeframes are year-based.

Please add more granular date controls to the new version of heatmaps!

  • Suggestion for the website and mobile app

Currently, users can change their language and the date and time format will be derived from the language. However, there are plenty many more countries in the world where people are happy to use English as user interface language but would like to see dates, times and numbers in the familiar local format. Usually, computer systems use the concept of a "locale" for this. For example, user interface can be in English but locale is Estonian. Such a "locale" setting could be added to the "Settings" page and then used throughout the app (web and mobile).

  • Hi,

A feature that I think would enhance user enjoyment would be to enable filtering or sorting by sport of the "activities" feed, similarly to how you show data of the main 3 sports in the profile section. Since I have friends that participate in multiple sports, having to scroll and scroll to find their last run (or even my own) can be bothersome. Last week, I for one ran, biked indoors, cross country skied and did weight training twice. All the activities got sent to Strava. If I want to look take a peak at my girlfriend's last cross country ski I have to scroll through all her runs, bike rides and weight training to find it. It takes more effort than it needs to.

  • Is it possible to put your routes into folders. I have rides for MTB and road bike, plus rides for my local club which all get mixed up together. I t would be easier to have a single folder for each category and open that up instead of going through page after page of rides.

  • For ebikes - when users enter an ebike into their Gear collection, include a setting that tags it as an ebike and automatically changes their Activity to Ebike Ride whenever a new activity is recorded using that piece of gear.  If it's their default bike then they never need to worry about changing it on every single ride they do (current situation) and won't be accidentally taking up KOM's / QOM's.  I'm not sure why you haven't already done this to be honest.

  • Tag you activity

I want to be able to tag any activity after my own purpose.

It would allow me to add a tag for my favorite course, a vacation trip, my rides to my mother-in-law, or whatever. Then adding a tag search to that and a calendar to the search feature I could see how many times I did my favorite course during the last month or months, how much I biked during my vacation trip or visited my mother-in-law and so on. It’s important to have the possibility to add multiple tags so that I can have one tag for “vacation” and another one “vacation location” just as one example.

The reason why it’s important is because it would be so much easier to find any properly tagged activity to find that epic ride, compare how you preformed during a specific trip and so on.

  • Request for a very simple Metric for ride: Ride Score

    Easy to calculate.
Can be used for further goals or challenges.

Ride Score= ride in Km. X elevation gain in Km

Many riders are riding in area full of mountains. So for them elevation gain is rather approachable target then KM covered.
As we can see that many targets/challenges in strava are primarily focused on KM.

Ride score can create a rather interesting metric.

E.g. Rider 1 does 100 km and elevation gain of 200 m, this will create a ride score of 100x0.2=20
E.g. Rider 2 does 20 Km and elevation gain of 1000 m, this creates a ride score of 20x1.0= 20

Now create challenges or goals based on ride score.

  • Today I got a notification that I should replace my shoes. Then I asked myself the question; 'what was the average pace on this shoe'? I got some easy run shoes - tempo day shoes - race shoes etc. So I thought how nice it would be not only see how many miles/km's you ran in them, but also the average pace per shoe.

Would be a nice/ fun add I think!

  • Multiple activity groupings as a 'Tour'

It would be nice to have a tour feature which groups activities together. If I go out and do a cycle/hike/cycle each activity uploads separately and clogs up my feed and my followers' feeds. If you could select these activities as part of a 'tour' and stitch the maps together it could be pretty neat, whilst still allowing the stats of each individual activity to be viewed.

It would also be good for multi-day cycling or hiking tours so you can see the overall route. And for triathletes

Maybe it would have to require subsequent activities to start where the previous activity ended or something like that.

  • I would like to suggest a new Strava feature which is quite simple to implement I think it would be very attractive to track the wear/usage of your bike gear.
I know Strava has the option to track how many kms your bike has travelled, I think that feature could be revamped to allow more fine grain, what I mean is I want to track how many kms the tyres of that bike has or how many kms the chain of that bike has, etc

That way I can tell if my tires travelled enough kms before replacing, same for the chain or the brake pads.
What I was thinking is like a tree view of the bike with its components in each tree branch/leave.

That’s all, a simple feature but great for those who like to maintain their bikes and its components.

  • MTB and chairlift/vehicle uplifts! Come on Strava, sorting out how to record/interpret imported data for this so that the obvious portions made in a vehicle should be possible by now. Even only having a 'Ride' option that could be a road or mountain bike is quite frankly pathetic in this day and age.

  • I like to track both walks and runs but I don't want to spam everyone with my relatively short walks.  I would like the option of making my walks 'private' by default while keeping my runs 'public'.  I have to do this manually at the moment.

Basically, I would like to set the default privacy on a per sport basis.

  • Hello, would you please consider adding "Wing Foil" to your supported "Activity" types? You already have "Windsurf" and "Kitesurf", which I really appreciate, but now there's another wind+water sport gaining popularity. There are a lot of folks who "wing foil" in addition to "windsurf" and/or "kitesurf", and there's need to be able to distinguish them, since they really are different sport. Being able to distinguish them will better serve people trying to judge the wind condition from the activity feeds from windsurfers/kiteboarders/wingfoilers, because wingfoilers tend to move slower than windsurfers/kiteboarders and if they just look at the average/max speed of wingfoilers thinking they are windsurfers, then the condition may seem worse than it actually was. I hope this makes sense. Thank you.

  • There should be a post for new suggested Activity Types.

(Maybe this suggestion has been made before, but there's no way to search just the comments for one thread, and I'm not reading the 346 comments to find out. Also, the fact that this post has 346 comments most of which are feature suggestions is an indication that the new forum design is not really working).

  • Add 'Gravel' as a bike type in equipment. It's one of the most popular types of bikes ATM but isn't an option. 'Cross' is somewhat similar but is nowhere near as common.

  • Hi Strava.

I have the need to ad just some items to the pick lists

In the sports-list I really miss the sports Roadcycling (Wegwielrennen) and Mountainbiking (Mountainbiken)

The reason why I miss them is because as a cycling-sporter I now have only "Fietsrit" I think Roadcycling and Mountainbiking ar the two most importent types of sport one does on a bike. A "Fietsrit" isn't even a sport, it is just a ride on any bicycle Perhaps there is a thirds type of cycling sport nowadays, called Gravel-biking or Gravelling? this probably is also wanted in the list by many Cliclists.

Then in the very short pick-list of type of sport I now have only Training and Race I very badly miss the type of ride called Touring ride ( in Dutch). This is important because most of the bicycle riders are Tour-riders, not racers. We train for wonderful Tour-rides (Toertochten)

  • Since most athletes are likely to be interested in wind information on their activities and their friends' activities, I contact you to suggest that a feature be added.
It involves adding an arrow to indicate the wind direction within an activity.
When we are in an activity, it is possible to obtain information about the wind, which appears together with other information about the weather during the activity. My suggestion is to add an arrow to make it easier to understand the wind direction.
    For example: "Wind direction S ↓ " ; "E wind direction →"
This would be the simplest way the arrow with the wind direction could be presented.
Another idea was for the arrow to appear on the activity map in the part.
In the "Overview" of the activity, there could be the arrow with the wind direction on the map.
In the section corresponding to "Analysis", there could be an arrow that corresponds to the instantaneous direction of the wind during the activity, that is, when hovering over the course of the activity, the arrow could adjust to the wind direction at that moment of the activity. I believe this is a more difficult feature to implement, but it would be feasible.
Attached are images illustrating these suggestions.

  • Bruno Bloeyaert - Strava already has a separate category (activity) for e-bikes.  They are separated from other bikes and have their own segments and leaderboards.  Some e-bikers forget or just don't correctly assign their activities to the e-bike category, but it is there for them.

If you want to see the full leaderboard, you just have to pull it up on a web browser instead of the app.  A little annoying, but again, it is there if you want it.

  • Ryan Vogels - How about just pressing "stop" on the recording device when you get to the bottom of the hill and then "start" when you get back to the top?  That will cut the drive back up out of the file and it won't get flagged.  It would be nice to have an option to automatically filter certain segments, but without that, it is really easy for you to do it yourself just by stopping and starting the device during the ride.

  • Separation between MTB, Gravel and Speed bikes to achieve segment times. Maybe it sound's obvious, but this 3 type of bike share's a lot of segments but within different characterystics, a MTB biker never gets the KOM in asphalt segment because obviously a speed biker will take it or gravel in an downhill versus an MTB, MTB will take advantage in this scenario, it make sense? All the 3 are bikes, but different bikes.
