How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Display Preferences

I want to be able to select a default map type (surface type for me) for my activities.  It will save me having to edit each activity on completion. This is important is because it is frustrating to have to edit each time, when other default preferences (units, default image etc) can be easily set.

Also, like others have already suggested, I want to be able to select NOT to see Challenges in my Activity Feed; I’m not interested and they simply clutter the feed with junk.  This is important is because it is frustrating to have to scroll past so many on a regular basis to see the actual activities of those I follow.

Finally, it would be good to be able to select the activity type(s) you view in the Feed (e.g. ‘real’ cycling, Zwift cycling, walks, runs etc).

In a nutshell, I think your subscribing customers should be able to customise their Activity Feed to see what they want to see.

  • I want the Strava Apple Watch app to be smarter about what activities it presents on the "home screen". Right now when I open the app to start tracking a workout, the first two items it suggest are "Outdoor run" and "Trail run." I've never used either activity. On the other hand I regularly bike, walk, and row. Rowing comes very far down the list. So I wish I could either myself control the order in which activities are presented, or that the app would be present my most frequently used activities first.  This would allow me to get started more quickly. The reason that is important is because of the current setup is a unnecessary distraction. An example of when I needed that feature was every morning I went rowing.

  • Hi there. I use almost exclusively Strava to plan my rides. I would love to see the maximum gradients highlighted on a route and maybe the chance of putting into settings max 12% instead of Hilly or flat. Sometimes it suggests me routes with sectors with over 20% gradient. Thanks!

  • Need an option for sorting routes by distance, starting location, elevation.

I want the ability to sort my routes (Garmin has this option on their site). It will allow me to quickly find a route rather than scrolling through my 300+ routes. The reason that is important is because of organize four rides per week and I have to sort through over 300 routes that I have mapped to find a route that matches my criteria for distance, starting location, elevation.

  • I would find it very cool if we could have a more detailed view of the elevation on mobile. Currently, when looking at the km splits it shows overall elevation gain/loss. I believe that the option to see elevation gain and loss simultaneously would be more insightful. This could be an easy implementation where for example one taps on the word 'elevation' at the top of the column and it could create two mini columns with the legends '+' and '-' at the top to indicate gain and loss, respectively. If this is unclear I can send a diagram of what I mean.

  • Is it possible to separate times on the cycling leaderboard to differentiate between riding as a pack or group and riding solo? Obviously faster times can be achieved when streamlining in a group than when riding solo. Both are legitimate but it would be great to be able to filter the two categories and track your individual and group times.

  • Hi, was just wondering if you could add more components in my gear section. there are numerous moving parts that can be added so we can keep track of the wear and tear.

    that's all

    Thanks

  • I also like the idea of an "efficiency" rating.   In addition to the above mentioned HR/Pace comparison, maybe a HR/Power comparison.   Or combine HR, pace, power, and VAM on a climb segment to come up with an efficiency rating?

    Thanks!

  • Mtb activity and heat map

it's important to split the ride activity between Road and Mountain bike because the time on the segment are totally different. It' great if you can retro change the old ride activity based on the model of the bike, if you add a additional  information on the bike (road and mountain) so every activy with a bike can split on the correct ride activity based on the tipe of bike or selected manually.

A other step can be to have different heat maps for road /mountain ride activity and on the course creator to have the automatic selection of the road based also with  the personal heat map ....so if i want to create a course that include a usual road or trail that ride with road/mtb bike  with the selection of personal heat map  i have the correct way .

    thanks

  • Show Battery Levels on Strava “Ride Upload” push notification.

There’s nothing worse than being out mid ride and either you’re bike computer or worse, your electric shifters run out of batteries. We all have our own little methods to try minimise that happening, but it still happens from time to time.

What I’d love to see is the battery levels for all of my devices (eg bike computer and group set batteries) shown on the Strava pop up message advising when a ride has been uploaded as this is the moment when you need to go back to your bike and start charging them. Other pop ups from those devices manufactures are helpful, but they often come up at times when you can’t do anything about it (like mid ride). it’s as you get off your bike that you really need this advice so you can do something about it straight away.

Let me know what you think!

  • The Beacon feature is good, but at the same time a bit difficult to use, and especially for those who will follow me while I do an activity.
It should be possible to follow me live via the app or via strava.com for those on the beacon-list.
    Here is why:
    1. If I send a message (SMS) to those who are on the beacon-list, they have to follow me via the mobile, since SMS normally go to a cell phone.
    2. If a person on the Beacon-list wants to follow me via strava.com on a computer, it is a very time consuming process, since the SMS have to be copied to a PC, and so on.
    3. There are unnecessarily many steps from I click on "send message" to those who follow me can actually follow. The whole process should be easier.

Overall, the Beacon feature was better on Endomondo, and it was free. But I like the Beacon feature on Strava beacuse it updates more frequently than on Endomondo, but at the same time I hope it can be simplified a bit, since this is the main reason why I have a subscription.

It's an important security feature, so it should be easy to use! Thanks!

  • Hi, I'm using Strava segments to measure FKT times in mountains environments and realized they are not very useful for that. A mountain track can go over snow and different surfaces and the actual path can vary from an ascent to the other so many times the segment is not recognized properly and the time is not recorded. It would be helpful, when creating a segment, to add an option to recognize only the starting and ending point of the segment, independently of the route taken (like the base and top of a mountain). This will allow to keep track of climbing times much more efficiently, not obliging the runner to take any specific route and it would fit much better what is actually done climbing a mountain. It could be called FKT segment or something like that.

Looking forward for an answer, thanks for your attention and best regards,

    Marco Regalia

  • It would be great if you would add "Ruck" to the sport options.

I work out with a group of about 2,000 people in my region (F3 Churham), with the majority of the people using Strava.  About 10% of the group, in addition to boot camp workouts, ruck on a regular basis.  Our group often has goals and challenges that pop up, but they get categorized into walks, hikes or some other activity.  It would be very helpful for us to be united under the ruck label so we can keep track of each other, train together and hold each other accountable through Strava the way we do with workouts.  Thank you for your consideration on this, we look forward to seeing Rucking in time for an annual challenge of 1,000 miles under Ruck in 2021!

  • I want see 500m splits for rowing segments. We use them for training longer stretches (e.g. 4k) on the water. It will allow me to analyse splits (time per 500 m). The reason that is important is because with our rowing meters, we do not have the exact (=GPS) start and stop positions on the water, so we cannot compare attempts. An example of when I needed that was rowing this segment.
    Rowing splits are given in minutes:seconds per 500 m, e.g. 2:00 / 500 m

  • Its pretty frustrating that every segment is flagged when you do shuttles and get a really fast time on the uphill. Why can't you just flag that segment? If we do heaps of shuttles runs you have to try split the ride up and delete a whole lot of bits. It should be much similar, especially now that we are paying for leaderboards.

  • Could you guys please, please improve the Heatmap!  Your individual ride map is far superior to the heatmap map because you cannot zoom into the detail enough on the heatmap to make it very usable.  I am doing a major ride-every-road project in a big city and I need detail on what I have and have not ridden.  Your heatmap is too difficult to see that detail.  For one thing, you "speckle" the route with the first time it is ridden.  That speckling, combined with a lack of adequate zoom in on the heatmap make it very difficult for me to identify small roads I haven't ridden.  Third Party applications do a much better job but they are getting so popular to use instead of your heatmap that now the API max is getting exceeded every single day and so they aren't usable.  That's an indication that your feature (which we are all paying for) is far less useful.  I'd like to see some improvement effort since this is a paid feature!

  • I want to be able to see mileage splits when choosing the activity "Nordic Ski." Currently the activity only shows the overall average pace, unlike the "Run" activity which shows each mile's pace. It will allow me to have a better understanding of my progress as a cross country skier, and to analyze my activities more effectively.

  • I noticed something today while skiing and snowboarding with a group. While there is the option available for these activities, it doesn’t record appropriately. I wish there was a feature similar to the auto pause that works so well for cycling and other activities. If the activity could pause when it senses steady elevation gain, it would stop adding false data to the day. This afternoon, for example, strava says I had an average of 8mph and a distance of over 18 miles. Running another app parallel, that accounts for lift and pause time, showed an average of 22.3mph and distance of just 10 miles. Any data collected while skiing or snowboarding is not reliable, except for top speed. I wish this was fixed, so I could just use one app for all activities.

  • Apple Watch New Feature.

As a runner that regularly does speed work on a track or threshold repeats during longer runs, I’d like a lap button added to Apple Watch. Ideally this new lap would be comparable to a split where I could see my avg split pace for it.
In example, on a run where I am alternating between 1k fast and two minutes of jogging, I’d push the lap button at the beginning and end of each transition so that in both real-time on my watch, and later reviewing my data would be more insightful because it would separate these laps.

  • Manual activities allow for time, and distance. But what about elevation? Sometimes I forget to strava but I still know how many ft of elevation I gained, why isn't there a way to add elevation to manual activities, like cycling?

  • Will there ever be new sports on Strava? My friend and I are into long-boarding, we enjoy riding long distances and like to record our ride. We usually just put the sport as other, but it would be cool to see new sports on Strava, like long-boarding

  • Add Paddling options alongside run/swim/ride. This would bring new users to the platform to make use of the excellent sharing and challenge options your app has. Currently paddlers are moving to app like Paddlelogger that support their activity.

  • I'd like to see a breakdown of my run in standard distances 1k, 5k, 10k, 20k, 1mile, Half-Marthon, Marathon etc, for every run. You currently only see those breakdowns if you get a new PB or 2nd/3rd fastest.

I'm also gutted that Flyby seems to have vanished this past week, I used to love watching it...

  • Emma Alex - They did not get rid of the flyby feature, they just decided on their own to disable it for EVERYONE without telling them.  Each person now has to go into their privacy settings and "enable" it.  Unfortunately, most people such as yourself haven't learned this, so only a few of us have it turned back on. It is mostly useless because Strava made a unilateral decision to change things without telling anyone.

  • Can you separate units of measurement rather than just say everything is in Kilometres and Kilograms, or everything is in miles and pounds.

When I run I like my activities to show my distance in miles but my elevation gain in metres.

Also to be able to set the units of measurement for different disciplines would be helpful. My son uses miles when he cycles but when he runs and does athletics interval sessions on the track, he would prefer to view these activities on Strava in metres.

  • Is it possible to split outdoor runs into road run and trail run, or have a separate activity for both.

My times are different depending on terrain, but as a 5k run for example is just that, my best effort will always be road, but I would like to see when I have beaten that on my trail runs as well.

  • Support heart rate recording from watch and phone app at the same time. Currently if I want watch HR recording, and ability to use the phone app, I have to record simultaneously on both devices and then delete 1 recording. E.g. if I start an activity on my watch, I should see that activity running on my phone.
