  • More and more entries of Strava's Activity Feed get boring as more and more users are tracking every little commute or ridiculous distance automatically with the help of their smartphones and/or smartwatches.

A filter option is the only way to stop this trend.

  • How difficult is it to just hide rides tagged as commutes on the news feed as so many people want?

    Wake up Strava support!

  • Can't believe I still have to see Zwift and turbo sessions in the feed.

  • It would be great to be able to filter out Zwift rides, as I am really only interested in seeing the real, physical activities

  • interesting option, it will be a great idea to filter news like new message, new plan, new ride or activity from a specific date

  • An option to filtering the Dashboard feed is to group by user, activity type, or both.  Click on a carat next to the user to expand that user's recent activities.   Do the same for comments as they are currently all displayed and can fill up the feed quickly.

  • I'd also like this option - the people I follow are ones who I go cycling with, but many of them are also runners. However I'm not interesting in seeing their runs on my activity feed, so I'd want to filter these out and only keep the cycling.

  • A detailed filter would be nice too. But I think first of all to filter rides, runs and news is a must.

Dashboard is like a bag with everything in it at present.

But is there a plan with it? Does any strava agent read these we write?

  • I really like the ideas to be able to filter out commutes and rides under x number of kms for both my activities on other people's feeds and for other people's activities on my feed. Or just allow for private activities to count towards challenges. That would solve the first point.

  • I don't think there's any snobbery here.  The proposal is only that Strava provide the *option* to filter out commutes and other things.  If you follow more than just a few people, this feature really becomes necessary if you want to notice when one of your friends does an unusual ride.  The number of challenges and everyday rides that fill up your feed in one day will push the interesting activities that you would have liked to notice down into history.  Of course you may want to see your own commutes to track your training, and maybe even other's.  The proposal is only to add the option...

Over three years now for this thread, Strava.  This isn't that hard.

  • I created this bookmarklet to remove the "Commute" entries from Strava dashboard. That way I don't see my friends riding their bikes to work etc.

    javascript:(function(){jQuery('.activity:contains(Commute)').remove();}() )

  • I'm getting goals and routes from people I'm following, as well as very short rides and commutes. I need to be able to delete these (or at least relegate them to the bottom of the list) so that I can make sense of the items I'm acually interested in. IE, their achievements. These requests have been ongoing for 4 years now, what's the problem Strava?

  • 4 years. Get it together. One little setting to hide commutes. you guys all too busy out riding??

I have stopped recording my commutes solely so I don't clog other peoples feed. This obviously downgrades the quality of your data, and also reduces my habitual use of strava. I have started not bothering using it for the odd actual ride or run now as well. And have stopped paying for premium. If you can't see how this small request directly effects YOU then you guys have serious problems.

  • Chrome extension to hide commutes and virtual (eg trainer) activities from the feed.

Just knocked it together this morning so yell out if it doesn't work or whatever.

  • +1 for filtering out commutes
+1 for filtering by activity type

I currently log all my daily commute rides. My feed quickly gets full of these rides. I mark them all as private in order to spare my follower's feeds from being cluttered with them, but it would be nice to filter them out from my own feed as well.

  • Psh, @John Long, I  was premium since I signed up in 2011. Told Strava I was going to cancel due to inaction on that, and did. Their response was more or less:

  • Like the other folks who left comments before - I just got tired with scrolling down activities I'm not interested in. I presume adding filters is technically rather a simple task and would be million times more welcomed than most of the nonsense upgrades (or "redesigns") that nobody cares about. But for some reasons you - people at STRAVA, who call it a Community - totally don't care what this Community says. I am aware it ain't gonna be a big loss for you, but in such a case I'm not going to renew my premium. I felt like paying for the app I use to enable its development, but unfortunately I don't see any.......

Still hope you'll change your approach!

  • Attention Strava User Interface Product Manager & Engineering Team: Respectfully...

It is pretty astonishing that this still hasn't been address by your User Interface team. It is a easy fix with toggle on or off. It is bad enough on the iPhone or even on a Web Page but on an iWatch it is such a waste of landscape and frustrating usability. Strava can do better.

I am a triathlete and only want to see walking, running (indoor/outdoor), swimming (pool & open water) and cycling both indoor training and road. How can I configure or remove all other related sports activities from my line of sight in the application UI.

    Thanks for at least responding.

  • Here is an idea... When you flag as a commute or trainer ride Strava should only show a smaller (one line?) entry for that particular activity in the feed. Trainer rides that get submitted dont usually have any kind of gps data so why show a map?. This way people can still keep informed of all the activities other people are doing without all the screen space being used up. Even better... why dont you just log the disance / elevation & achievements for rides designated as "commutes" rather than the whole GPS route this would presumably save you a truckload of storage space which is currently wasted on people who dont even want this data. If somebody wants the full GPS mapping thing then they dont turn commute flag on ... simple.

  • I'd definitely appreciate a filter based on Type so I can filter out Workouts

  • While I appreciate cyclists like to track every miles or KM on the bike it does lead to a noisy newsfeed for followers of this person. I'm mostly interested in cycles of interest (i.e. training, long spins..etc.) and not a round trip 5 mile commute daily. Would it be possible to add a filter out button based on distance? I think this would be better than filtering commutes because some cyclists might not tag their cycle as commute. This is obviously a brilliant app for cyclists/runners that want to track proper progress but let's prioritize and ensure that it's original intent is front and centre. We need a mechanism of filtering out the junk stuff.

  • Very poor from Strava that they haven't added a filtering capability. I've started to unfollow/remove fellow riders that I deem to be polluting my feed. I'm sure if more of us did this then Strava would take note.

  • Yes, please have an option to filter out commutes. I make all my commutes private so as not to fill up others feeds. But then have to make public a week or so later to be captured in leaderboards, etc. Chris.

  • +1 for filtering the feed, especially by activity type. With al those new activity types some people feel the need to put every move they make on Strava. I'm totally not interested in people playing golf or ice skating etc. They pollute my feed and now I feel the need to remove more and more people from my feed. I'm only interested in what they do on a bike, nothing else. What is next, put it on Strava when you have sex?
