  • A big thank you to Martin V who posted on August 18, 2016 13:16 a little bookmarklet to remove all Commutes from the Strave dashboard.

I extended it a little to get rid of everything containing "Commute", "Lauf" (German for "run") or "Zwift".

Just create a bookmark and add it to your browser's bookmark bar:

    javascript:(function(){jQuery('.activity:contains(Commute),.activity:contains(Lauf),.activity:contains(Zwift)').remove();}())

    Nice!

  • I would love to see filters for Zwift, Bkool & other such nonsense from feeds. I can't believe anyone other than the poster would be interested in this self obsessed rubbish

  • +1 for filtering out commutes. I've just got a new Garmin so I'm tracking all my commutes and I know it'll be annoying people. The status says 'planned', but what's the update?

  • Why? Just make them private if no one is interested.

  • Do private activities count towards distance/elevation stats though?

I've recently started commuting and while I'd like to keep track of the milage I don't want to be "what guy" who spams everyones feed with two short rides every day. Surely it can't be that hard for Strava to make activities marked as "commute" to not show up on other peoples feed?

  • Yes. But not challenges or segments.

I have private as the default. I only make public activities that might be of interest to my connections or when I want to show off :-) My boring shopping rides, commutes and run training are kept private. Wish everyone would take this approach.

  • I haven't waded through all seven pages of this, but has anyone from Strava engineering or UX dropped by to explain why this is:

    - problematic to implement from an engineering perspective
    - problematic to realise from a UX perspective

  • Really an important missing feature in my opinion as well. Super annoying to get your feed cluttered by people posting their daily 3.5km commutes!

  • Please bring this feature out.
    It is needed.
I want it be able to choose certain people to see less of. Eg some riders post their every day rise to and from work and flood my news feed.
I don’t want to see this but I still want to follow them.

  • Actually, i have the perfect solution! :)

I may begin a campaign to make you re-think your strategy on communicating better with your customer, and especially building a product that aligns to what THEY actually desire.

This campaign will start influencing Strava users to downgrade their membership to free version until strava becomes more of a company that responds to its customers.

I wonder how much revenue loss it will take, before they respond...

Any thoughts or ideas on this from others... And i'm serious!

  • I'm also a Summit member whose forehead is getting flat from banging it against the wall. I wonder if the the Strava "team" even reads this bulletin board.?

  • Just cancelled my Summit subscription because the lack of feed sorting is a joke.  This is not a serious company who wants my money.  I do not believe that your programmers are unable to implement various sorting algorithms for us to use.  Some managers high up think that a crappy user interface is the way of the future.  Id recommend the more apt job for them of guarding the staplers.
