Support Android Wear devices with Strava

Being able to track the distance, the time, the pace and live tracking of segments on the watch.

Support the heart rate on the gear fit device.

Haptic feedback with the start and the end of segments.

  • Do you know if heart rate support is coming for devices like the Moto 360? I would be so great to be able to capture that data from the watch.

  • Ditto Nate's comment - does Strava pull in heart rate data from any of the Android smart watches, like the Moto 360 or Asus Zenwatch?

  • I would love to see heart rate data capture and more live data on the watch face too.

  • I wanted to leave some feedback on the watch as i don't know where else to leave it. I use strava with android with the moto 360 and i am quite happy with it. Here is some feature that would be greatly appreciated while monitoring a ride. The usual computer stuff like speed, cadence, heart rate(that would be great for training). And to stay functional , it would be great if all this information could be on the same screen so you dont have to swipe all the time to see it. Also a way to communicate when a segment is arriving soon .such as the watch buzzing or the screen flashing or a warning icon.

    Regards,

  • I bought an Android Wear smartwatch (LG G Watch R) because of the integrated HR sensor, and am a bit disappointed that it does not work like a "normal" BT LE sensor... Having this support in Strava would be great!

  • Any news on this issue. It would be great if Strava can use the heart rate monitor from Wear devices. I have a moto360 and have an extra app installed to track my heart rate. Hope you can tell when the support for this type of devices will be in STrava. I think heart rate adds much to the types of training (zones) one can do. Thanks.

  • I'd love to see Strava use an Android Wear smartwatch's built in HR sensor while recording an activity. Is there an app out there which can do this?

  • Hi folks,

Support for Samsung Gear has been pulled. If you already have Strava downloaded on the Gear device, it should continue to work but no future downloads will be available.

Strava is still available for other  Android Wear devices.

Thanks, and let us know if you have any questions.

  • Elle, does Strava now use Android Wear's heart rate monitor?

  • So ... " Support for Samsung Gear has been pulled " . What is the status of the Gear 2 ?

I have a Note 3 which I use Strava on (V4.5.2), and I'd like to buy a Gear 2 in order to Pause / Start / Stop / Check the status of my ride.

    Will this work ?

  • Hi, I use the LG G watch(square) mostly running with some road biking. Overall, the Strava app is nice and I agree with many of the suggestions above. Some features present in other fitness apps for Wear that would be nice for Strava are: a realtime clock on the wear app so you know the actual time in addition to your workout duration(don't want to keep track of start time, active time, auto-pause time, etc in my head on the trail), mini map of surrounding area so you can make quick navigation tweaks without pulling out your phone(see endomondo, google maps), and battery-saver(dark) mode that updates the time every 10 seconds instead of constantly. The endomodo, runtastic, and mapmyride wear apps have some of these features but I'd love to see them in Strava.

Another topic is an official strava watchface. With the implementation of interactive watchfaces to Wear (~Aug 2015) there are many cool things you could do. The specialized (bikes) face is nice(sunrise/sunset) and instaweather's google fit face is a good example, with several metrics you can toggle through(strava could have achievements, kudos, weekly mileage, cals, HR, high wind/rain/etc alerts)

    Thanks!!

  • There's been a few updates since I last ran using Strava and my Android watch. I'm currently on version 4.9.0.

I've just been setting up my TICKR Run and noticed that Strava now can use it's cadence as well as it's HRM, I now see them both in the app, but no longer see them on my watch, I used to get heart rate, but now it's not showing. Is this configurable somewhere?

  • As a runner, I would particularly like the following to be shown on my watch face:

    Elapsed time

    Distance

    Current pace

The icing on the cake would be the ability to show a custom set maybe 3 or 4 items of data, choosing from; time of day, elapsed time, interval time, pace, previous mile/KM/other measurement split, heart rate, cadence, distance (to 0.01 accuracy), segment time.  Also, a screen to swuipe to a mini-map would be excellent.

  • Define "Support"?

My Moto 360 cab initiate runs/rides from the watch but does NOT use the watches HR monitor - that's just stupid

When is this going to change?
