Add and edit My Gear (bikes/shoes) from the mobile app

The Ability to switch Gears from the App will enable members to switch bikes or running shoes without having to log into the website (to change the Default Gear) to record an activity for the desired gear. The feature for viewing the Gear is already on "Profile." Having the ability to "Check-to-Select" the gear for use (adding additional gears can continue to be a website-only event) eliminates the need to log into the website each time a member desires to use a gear (other than the default); usually at the last minute, due to unforeseen circumstances or by choice. I know some members that have at least two bikes (one located at two different locations) to eliminate transporting a bike each time they are in one of the two frequently used locations (home and work). Having this feature saves time and stress trying to access the internet to change the default gear - allowing more time for the activity. Thank you.

    Thanks all,

When editing an activity from the Strava mobile app, you can select and change existing bikes and shoes that you have previously entered into your Strava Profile. However, you'll need to go to the Strava website to add new gear (bikes/shoes) or to edit existing gear, like changing the default.

We hope to add better Gear management options to the Strava mobile app in the future. Please continue leaving us your comments and votes.

  • Mobile - After the ride you can change Bike ridden by clicking on Feed, Segment, Edit, Bike and chose bike ridden.  Would prefer to chose Bike before Starting Strava, but this works.  Use Profile, Setting, to setup multiple bikes.

  • yeah that works for BIKES only.. I'd be really happy if we could get that option implemented for other Gear types, such as shoes.. I always forget to log in via the website after walks and select which shoes I wore so basically my KMs for each shoe is now way off... having this in the app makes sense.

    Please implement the feature.

  • Once your run is synced on the mobile app you can select edit activity then select whatever shoes you have in your list.

  • Please - it's one of those little things in life where the annoyance experienced is out of all proportion to the hassle!

  • HI, really nice that it is possible to add and edit shoes also in the mobile App without having to log into the website (to change the Default Gear). HOWEVER, this is only possible if the workout is/was a running activiy and it is not possible in Hiking activities. In the hiking activity my default (running) shoes are added. Without access to a desktop strava webpage, I have to change the activity type to running in the app version, than edit the shoes and save, than reopen and change type of activity back to hiking and save. Please, make it possible to also edit gear in other activity types than running.

  • Yes find it annoying as I have to remember to change shoes on web base strava.   I do walks and treadmills with the brace on and have Extra Wide shoes to accommodate the brace.

  • Hi All,

    m g 2 (official comment) says:

"When editing an activity from the Strava mobile app, you can select and change existing bikes and shoes that you have previously entered into your Strava Profile."

Even that I cannot do. When editing an activity, I can change title, pics, sport, type, commuting, description, confidentiality and add friends". When viewing an activity, I see a default pair of shoes, but no means to change which pair I actually used (while I have 3 pairs configured in Strava).

    Versions: iOS 12.1.3 with Strava v83.0.0 (15312)

    Can you guide me please?

    Thanks

  • The ability to change gear on the mobile app appears to have been removed. Can you please add it back as I run in different shoes for different types of conditions and I would like to know the miles on each pair.

This used to be possible, but it was recently removed.

  • I have managed to do it from the website on my phone. I have an Android device, and use Chrome browser. My steps are:

1 - go to the Strava website and hit login

2 - before login in go to chrome settings and select "desktop website"

    3 - log in

4 - navigating through the website can be tricky as certain links will keep redirecting you to the app, but if you long press the links and select "open in a new tab" they will keep you in the website

5 - following the previous advice navigate to your profile settings and add/remove/change gear as you see fit

  • Team it's ridiculous a simple action to modify equipment in the app after we did the activity is not available in a app that we pay!!!

  • It is a, perhaps, out-of-proportion annoyance to not be able, within the app, as you're getting ready to begin a run, to change which shoe you're running in before the run.  It is a great annoyance to have to edit the activity, after the fact, to change the shoe.  Runkeeper allows you to change the shoe on the fly (inside the mobile app).

  • One more vote for EASILY being able to change shoes or bike in the mobile app BEFORE  the activity.  It should be a sub menu fo the "Choose a Sport".  Quick and easy to get to.

What would even be better is to customize "Choose a Sport" menu so allowing you to EASILY track statistics on different activities or equipment that is meaningful to you.   In my case I want to track Mountain Biking separately from Road biking.  Different equipment and a different sport in my mind.

Going back in after the activity just does not work for me.  As soon as I have finished my workout my mind is on to the next thing.
