Adding a "watch" field to gear

I use an Epson Runsense SF 810, at present all Epson devices are considered "incompatible" by Strava and therefore the watch merely shows as "GPX".

A simple workaround would be to implement an additional field under "Gear" for incompatible watches that are not recognised automatically, thus allowing such information to be displayed.

  • I've downvoted this purely because I agree with the Strava stance that it's for the watch vendor to be standards compliant. Watches don't wear out based on use so inclusion in the gear section doesn't make much sense.

I used to use a Polar RC3 which showed as gpx so I do know your pain, but actually the GPX can include the watch model so this should be fixed in a different way. I definitely agree it needs fixing though...

  • Hi,
Thanks for your comments. I have been on to Epson about this and other things and can't say that I have been too impressed but to stay on topic it appears they have no intention of making the Runsense range compatibile for the time being.

I hadn't considered that watches shouldn't go under "Gear" as they don't wear out (in truth some do eventually or at least stop working properly) but I am not bothered where it actually shows. Anyway, if you think that the model can be included under GPX that would be great, at the end of the day any fix is fine by me.

  • A lot of users switch from Garmin to Epson. When Strava will support EPSON Runsense ? There's increasingly users using Runsense SF810 and SF850.

  • I'll necro this thread to. Any Runsense update? Any support coming any time soon?

  • There have been no developments AFAIK, very occasionally there is an update but it does not regard Strava. However, I would stress that whilst not "supported", the watch works perfectly well with Strava, it's just that it doesn't appear under Gear with its correct name.
