Add Photos from the Strava Website

Some of us have a windows phone, and while my first preference would be for an officially supported windows phone app with the full feature set, I doubt that is coming any time soon.  As such, it would be nice if we could add pictures from our own files from the web site rather than having to deal with Instagram.  I don't always upload Instagram photos in the time window allotted.  Truth be told, the only reason I have an Instagram account is so I can have my ride pictures show up in strava.  I would probably just close my Instagram account if you added manual file upload for ride pictures to the web site.

  • Why this is not supported? It's quite easy to do! I did it several time on my project. And I have windows phone, so it's absolutly not possible for me to upload pictures. (Maybe they just want to save some disk space when ignoring such simple request)

  • I tough i was doing something wrong and that i couldn't find the feature to upload pictures on the website.

This is just something strava wont implement, why!? It don't require any difficult programming skills nor development to add this feature! Strange to not listen on customer request. Maybe should go back to Endomondo!

  • Is there any update on this...? It has been nearly 2 months since we were told that this functionality 'should be released in a few weeks'...

  • It's safe to assume that the 'We're a small company' line is BS.

Having developed a few websites myself, some at least as complex as Strava, but with considerably smaller resources, I am confident my team of two programmers could comfortably handle this issue within two months, and quite possibly a lot less.

Another commenter has suggested that the blockage might be with Strava's CEO, who came from Instagram. This seems the most likely explanation. If it is in any way correct, this could potentially have serious anti-trust implications.

I think we need a full and detailed explanation as to why this issue has been handled  the way it's been, rather than being fobbed off with insulting generic responses such as 'we're a small company with a long list of things to do'.

  • As far as I can tell, photo uploads are absent from the public API. If they were there, I'd do this myself.

  • Just one more vote in favor of spending the 2 hours work it would take to update the website to upload photos directly.  And while you're at it get rid of that silly 'sync photos with instagram' function.

  • In the year of our lord 2017, Strava still doesn't support jpeg upload via web browser, literally the most basic method possible, despite users begging for it for literally years. OK.

  • Hell, just add it to the API and let others build the "interface" with IFTTT or whatever, so Google Photos et al can sync up.

  • Come on Strava time to step up. It's madness that it's still an issue.

  • Hi Strava. I understand software development and feature prioritization. Let me help raise the priority of this feature request. My premium subscription just expired. I will renew my premium subscription once web photo uploads are available.

    Thank you,
    Brian

  • @lou try using "login" and enter your credentials rather than "sign up" and entering new information.   If you don't know your username/password, use the "forgot password" link and they'll send a reset link to your email address.

Also, this question has nothing to do with this thread.  Create a new thread for new problems, don't piggyback on an existing thread.  That's considered bad etiquette anywhere on the internet.

  • I was shocked when it wasn't done when the app was updated to allow uploads.

  • This type of functionality should be consistently applied across all versions of the app -> web/android/iphone and customers shouldn't be fighting to have it there

  • I'm a premium member. In the past I found strava support responsive.  Now 2 years or more and nothing done on this issue.  I can't believe it.  Who stops to take photos during a fondo or race?

  • @Stephen S. - bit like taking a 100 mile detour every day instead of the 5 mile direct route!

  • Same as above. It should be relatively simple to code this additional usability. Small team or not, this is a trivial piece of work for a substantial increase in satisfaction.

  • This is seriously not possible from the web interface? You guys aren't joking? What is this, 2007?

  • I too am quite shocked.  I am a relatively new Premium member, and adding a photo from my PC via  a web browser like Google Chrome seems like the most basic of feature.  To the Product Managers at Strava, please add me to the voices requesting this capability.

  • +1 from a Premium member for adding photos from the web.  Silly in 2017 that that's not possible yet.

What gets my balls (other than the vet) is that picture uploading works great here.
