Can't get Strava on Apple Watch after changing to iPhone 8

Since changing my iPhone to iPhone 8, I can't open the app on my Apple Watch. I'v deleted the App on both the phone and the watch several times, and reinstalled it, and also switched to motion and fitness with of and on a few times.Any suggestions? This is really frustrating. Has any found a similar (better) app that works? or found a solution?

  • PROBLEM SOLVED!

i tried everything and then my OH steeped in and sorted it by running an Apple IOS update.

We must have missed the last update so he ran the latest one and then Strava opened on my watch, which it had stopped doing so, am relieved. Hope this helps others with this problem. Check for updates if they don’t appear automatically as they normally should.

  • Yeah, sorted it on mine - do all the updates - phone, watch and strava and it should work. my watch didn't think it had an update so I went into the watch app, then 'general' then 'software update' and there it was. sorted now. ridiculous though!!

  • I got mine to work, after I discovered that I had missed something: when you get the message on the watch that you should sign in, try to slide up, an you will see a button that says "setup". Touch the button, and you will be prompted to go to the app on the phone. A special screen will come up, and it will take you through the steps of setting it up. After I did that, everything worked just fine..

  • SUCCESS AT LAST!

I tried everything mentioned above but failed to get Strava working on my Apple Watch 3 linked to my new iPhone8. This is what I did to succeed: I reset my Apple watch - clearing all the data on it - and linked it again with iPhone8 using the regular setup procedure and set it up as a new Apple Watch. After configuring the iPhone again, I tried Strava once more on the Apple Watch. It asked me to start Strava on my iPhone8. The Strava app on the iPhone8 asked my permission to allow Strava on the Apple watch. I did that and it worked!!

It is indeed unfortunate that Strava does not proactively recommend a standard procedure to fix this problem.

  • I'm having the exact same problem on my new iPhone 11 and Apple watch 4 which was just updated to Watch OS6. The problem existed before and after the Watch OS upgrade.

  • I’ve installed Strava on my iPhone but it doesn't appear in the list of available apps from the Watch app. I restart the iPhone and the issue was resolved.

  • I got it working by removing the Strava app on the watch, go to app store on the watch and down it to the watch again, go to iPhone Strava app and re-enable/link it to the Apple watch, worked for me.

Not the most robust app! Strava & Apple IOS are finger pointing each other!
