Hiking stats included in My Profile

I can see YTD totals for cycling and running but not for hiking.  It's listed as an option when I'm recording an activity, so why can't we keep track of the stats from it?

  • I've seen plenty of posts about people asking for this over the years but no response from Strava. Hiking is my #1 activity so I've wanted this since I started using Strava. I really dont understand what's taking so long to implement this.

  • I think they did add stats for Swimming within the past year. Strange that they would do so for just that one particular sport, and not any of the many others people have asked for.

I know a lot of people who are recording their activity as Cycling in order to get better stats, even though they're doing something else.

  • I would track mine as cycling or something else too but I don't want to mess up my cycling stats.

Hello Strava, are you seeing the requests that people are making for stats in other categories?  I would just like to know if it's something you're working on or could care less about.

  • I am only tracking the one type of activity -- inline skating -- so messing up stats by logging it as cycling instead would not be an issue. What would be a major problem is that segment comparisons would be a complete hash. I have no desire to compare my skating pace around the Central Park loop with that of the cycling warriors who are going twice my speed.

So I persist in logging my activity as inline skating. Ticks me off whenever I look at the activity stats for the one Strava club that I am a member of, because it indicates I have done 0.

  • STRAVA, we want hiking YTD totals! (Among other things like walking, skating, etc...)

Another nice feature would be shoe tracking for hiking/walking. Thanks!!

  • I strongly agree with all of the others here.  Strava - please allow us to track our hiking activities properly.

  • Strava!  I too would like to track my hiking stats using your amazing app.  I'd hate to download another app for something you guys could handle so well!

  • Hiking is a must if you want diversity and information of remote beautiful places to be active

  • Myself and my family also need hiking and walking totals adding; so that's 5 more requests. Going for a 3000 mile total of walking, hiking and cycling this year and wanted to use Strava to track total progress but I can't. I'm disabled so can't run and I have to ride a recumbent trike; I could log my walking under running I suppose, but I shouldn't need to, and that still leaves hiking, which is my main activity at the moment. Very disappointing, a major omission on an otherwise excellent platform. Come on Strava this is surely an easy software fix and would make thousands of your users very happy.

  • I agree with the above posts, most of my activities are hiking and cycling and I want to see my overall hiking stats like I can for cycling. This can't be hard to implement.
Strava - How do we officially submit a feature request?

  • I would also love to see full hiking stats added (same/similar to biking) as this and biking are what I mainly use Strava for but the app is really lacking good stats on hiking.  Very gratifying to look at stats showing accomplishments over the year for biking and running but after hitting that record button for every hike then trying to look back on my miles and elevation I get that empty feeling like I was never there  :(

Please make this a priority in your feature road map.  Thanks for all the great work so far

  • I agree. I did a handful of hiking and walking sessions this month, but I cannot view the totals.. so annoying.

If it's not on Strava it didn't happen!! :)

I will now track my "foot" sessions under running from now on, as I read here nothing is done about the issue.

  • I'm new to Strava and this is the first question I looked up - count me in for wanting hiking totals added to stats. I'm currently logging my hikes as "runs" which is screwing up my running stats and also mis-representing the community data that's so valuable to Strava. What gives?

  • Need hiking data!  I would have categorized as running if I knew I would never see it!

  • I agree with everyone else here, as well as running and cycling I do lots of hikes that I would like included in my workout stats etc.

  • For me, hiking data, both distance and elevation, are included in the cycling stats.  Not in the running stats.  That is not just wrong, it's highly annoying.

  • Hello Strava developers, I am sure you have the data to calculate, what is sport No 4 (beside running, cycling and swimming) when measured by time or distance. If this is hiking then sure makes sense to add hiking as a next sport, which is included in stats.

  • Please add hiking to totals.

I have targets for running, biking and hiking..... 500 / 2000 / 1000 miles. Can't track all on Strava, but would like to. Don't want to look elsewhere.

  • Come on Strava, fix this! For a lot of us hiking is a secondary or even primary activity. To record it as running does not make sense at all.

  • Add me to the list of folks who'd like tracking stats for hiking. Mileage and elevation gain would be great as well. Thank you!

  • Strava is blatantly discriminating all the sports that are not running and cycling. (and swimming, but I doubt that Strava is actually very popular among dedicated swimmers. GPS does not work in closed pools :).

So, by Strava logic, when I commute to my workplace by bike, that activity deserves a circle in my training log, and that time is calculated towards my weekly active time. But, if I climb Mount Everest, that's only some XT below the line, and those hours and kilometers are not counted on my profile. Yeah! Very clever, Strava! And very inclusive ;).

I'm definitely not continuing my premium subscription!

  • plus one...hiking stats please...what's the point in having the activity type if you can't do any analysis on weekly/monthly/annual totals...

  • Having discovered hiking (plus wearing a hefty weight vest on my hikes to strengthen my legs for cycling), and the fact that my dog loves hiking (don't even think about mixing feature requests after me mentioning my dog... Strava will say, "Dog gone it!" ) but, I agree that hiking, as the Strava community continues "to strive" for better fitness, +1 for hiking statistics.
