  • Why possibly the restraint?

    - Maybe because of the tcx or fit course restrictions by the standard ?
Makes implementation of dynamic timestamps changes in both trackpoints and coursepoints according to speed and activity somewhat complicated ?

    - And no one ever proposed an alternative by gpx files for navigation.

Anyway find a nice experimental but easy method tested by gpx file here.

    Read: Advantages instructions in rtept.
Especially that last advantage should be attractive for Strava (app) use.
Keeps navigation robustness, while allows freely generated reference timestamps simulations.
Freely adjust timestamps according to any speed by activity, thereby NOT damaging navigation.

  • I have a paid subscription to RideWithGPS because it has this feature.  I would like to switch my subscription to Strava because segments are fun, but this is a dealbreaker.  I would switch in a heartbeat if Strava had audio navigation.

  • I too have a paid subscription to RideWithGPS that I was hoping to get rid of, but it's looking more and more like I'm going to be getting rid of my paid Strava subscription instead. No more HR monitoring. No turn-by-turn navigation. RideWithGPS's Live Logging is every bit (maybe moreso) as good as Beacon. RideWithGPS's route creation is getting better with every release. Why do I need Strava? Sure it's more social than RideWithGPS, but that's not why I ride, or why I track my rides!

  • I turned on subscription to "explore" the route feature. building and saving a route was easy. I was surprised that the app does not have turn notification. My phone is in rear pocket, even if it were on the handlebars, audio notification is essential from a safety point. I ended up going off course several times. I will try RideWithGPS as mentioned in the other comments.

Strava Routes is currently as useful as a chocolate teapot.

  • I have a phone holder and I use it to view my route while I ride. All the improvements to Strava Routes are useless to me if I can't get turn-by-turn guidance while I'm riding. It is unsafe to have to look at a map or cue sheet to know where I'm going!

  • this has been a request for over 6 years.. this is ridiculous that it does not have turn by turn. I tried it for the first time in a city unknown to me and oh boy was I in for a surprise. What a hassle.

  • I am as well surprised that this isn't a thing, I bought the subscription because I liked how everything else worked in the app - the routes, the storing of them and so on, but coming from the Free Samsung Health app, which does all this and you can save routes after riding them and redo them afterwards with full gps navigation and guidance, current speed, average pace and so on, which made me wonder a little.

What I do is do my routes in Strave, export as GPX and import into Samsung Health and then run both apps for tracking while riding. The alternative would be to go on google maps and have that calculate the route and then just use strava for tracking of segments and so on, but then, whats the subscription for if all the things I really ask for is for free elsewhere.

  • I was in a debate with a friend regarding this feature - I remembered Strava hasn’t implemented nor planned it yet.

I like Strava generally but this feature would really make a difference for me... I’ve been a paid subscriber for years but the lack of this function makes me look around for other apps that do offer this...

At the very least I’d like to understand why Strava is against Or has been avoiding implementing this - it’d be better yet to see it go into the planning.
