Dual Bluetooth LE client

I'm using the Strava app on my Android smartphone.
As a bike computer I'm using the Cateye CC-RD500B strada smart.

For both HRM and Speed/Cadence bluetooth LE sensors have been mounted.
These Teasi SMAR.T sensors work fine for both Cateye and smartphone.

I'm trying to get a reading on both the bike computer and the smartphone at the same time.

It looks like a dual client (Cateye + smartphone) to a single server (sensor) causes problems.
Most of the time the smartphone (running the Strava app) wins and the reading on my Cateye stops.

Does this make sense to you and would it be feasible to program the Strava app differently
so both clients keep on getting the readings ? Or am I talking nonsense here ?

  • If I understand you correctly you want to connect the sensors to Smartphone and Strada Smart at the same time? Not sure if that is possible but I don't think it is necessary anyway. My HR sensor only connects to the Smartphone and the Cateye app which beams the measurements to the display on the Strada smart. So you can see the HR on both devices but the sensor is only connected to the smartphone. I don't use a cadence sensor but I'd think it works the same way.

  • It's the same with a cadence/speed sensor and a Cateye Padrone. Basically I do not use the Strava app anymore while riding this bike. Instead I record activities from the Cateye app, which is a pity because then I have to go back to Strava to make the activity private, mark is as a commute, or set a title or description.

Feature request: It would be great is if Strava could pair with the Strada and Padrone and use them as external displays, just like the Cateye app does.

  • +1 on connecting to Cateye Smart bike computers. I have a Strada and it's a pity to have to use the  fairly awful Cateye Cycling app to get to Strava
