Strava on iPad

I agree with others that it would be very nice to have an iPad compatible Strava app for reviewing stats, looking at routes on a larger format, and potentially for mapping desired routes.

Is there anything in the works?

  • Just message Strava re iPad/tablet issues. I’d be happy just to use the web page, but the web page recognises that I’m not using a PC and annoyingly keeps reminding me to install the phone app.

  • 2019. Dudes: iPad app is WAY overdue. When I show friends Strava on my iPad using iPhone app, it looks...?

  • For the love of god, please make the desktop version work via an iPad app.

Strava is is a professional business with a child’s fix for an iPad app.

  • Yes, totally agree that a Strava iPad app is a real need. Fiddling around to get the web version to work on my iPad is a pain.

  • Come on guys - it is 2109.  Even United Airlines knows how to make an iPad compatible app.  You ought to be able to do it too.  Hell, just get it to recognize I’m using my iPad in landscape mode and rotate it 90 degrees.  I’d even take that.

  • I’m a paying member of Strava and I think a lot of the philosophy and thinking behind this community is good, but the lack of a relatively simple thing as a native iPad app is what will make me move away from Strava.

  • Strava is a great app for your phone or watch. I’m only a beginner but I find it useful to view the app on some of my devices (I watch, iphone, iPad and laptop. I understand that the strava programmers may not have the skills or knowledge to orient the strava app correctly on the iPad.  In-fact, they may not even be aware that there is such a device like the iPad. I’m sure that over time Strava will employ programmers who are aware of this device we call “iPad”. We can’t expect Strava to know of all the uses with their app...can we?

  • I don't see any sign that Strava has interest in supporting the iPad. But then again after years of people asking they did manage to take some steps towards providing effort comparison functionality, so maybe there's hope.

  • Strava,

When are we putting this to the vote? You really need a forum to take suggestions on app development ideas which can be voted on to drive your development roadmap.

The iPad app is a joke, user experience is terrible and has honestly shocked me considering the market share you have.  Really not what I expected from a company with your standing.

Please spend some time making the app properly IPad compatible. Take a note out of Komoot’s book.

  • I’m typing this from my iPad as I rarely use a desktop for anything but work.

This thread is almost 2 years old and the only response I see from Strava is a “not planned” banner at the top. Any chance you could at least tell us why it’s not planned? Surely a tablet app is table stakes these days, and it can’t be that difficult to build. Sure I could use a browser on my iPad but user experience should be the same across any platform so I’d expect a usable app.

I’ve only just started using Strava properly so can quickly and easily change platform and give my £12 a month to someone else. All I need is to be able to consolidate run data from Garmin and ride data from Wahoo/Zwift somewhere I can track and analyse both together.

Anyone else looked at competitors and can give some recommendations?

  • Crazy there is no iPad app for Strava.  Canceled my subscription until there is one. It’s a pain in the ass to only be able to view Strava information on an iPhone.

  • Considering the comments I have read about this problem and the time that has elapsed so far, it can only be ice-cold ignorance on the part of STRAVA!
How can it be, that no landscape mode has been implemented for TWO YEARS????!
For paying customers like me, a pure impudence.
Ignorance is also shown by the fact that STRAVA itself has not even reported here in the comment.

  • It is pretty clear they are not going to do this. The least they could do is to stop pedaling the "ipad" app with that annoying banner. Just using safari is fine, but the annoying banner keeps falsely claiming there is an ipad app you should install.

  • Given the recent changes at Strava, is a landscape mode coming?  This has been way to long without anything being developed.  The iPad is a much better way to search routes and look at results compared to the iPhone.  Given how many people are leaving desktops for mobile devices like the Surface Pro and iPad, this should have come a year ago.

  • Just adding my vote for a native iPad app.

“We’re building Strava for the very long run,” Horvath told BikeRadar. “We want it to be a source of motivation and fun for athletes for generations to come.

Strava - (and Instagram!!) It's 2020, the iPad has been around for a decade and isn't going anywhere. If you want to stand by these words you need to keep up with the times and invest in a native iPad app. I use my iPhone less and less these days as my digital needs are almost 100% covered with my iPad and smartwatch. In the "generations to come" I can't see this trend going in any other direction.
