Set Goals based on Elevation gained

I'd love to be able to set a weekly elevation goal. Possible?

Keep up the great work,

Andrew

  • It's obvious of no use whatsoever to come with good ideas here....
Maybe we should explain "the power that be" how to access this forum.

I'm a convinced StraveSlave, but there is still a lot of ways to improve this excellent product.

  • Hey @Elle Anderson - your last post (5 months ago) said you guys were discussing this.  Any update?  I've climbed over 100,000 feet in those 5 months...but might have done more with a weekly goal.

  • Yes please. My training is elevation oriented, please add goal based on elevation rather than time/distance.

  • I am trying to do 1,000,000 by the end of 2016. I tried to go to goals but a power segment would only come up. Is there a way to make the elevation a goal yet?

  • Agree with what everyone is saying. Come on Strava guys its an easy tweak to the code. Jeez this request thread is over 3 years old. The dara is already being captured i.e. elevation year to date. Give us a 2017 Christmas present!

  • My new strategy for making this happen is to reply to every email that talks about Premium Perks or anything sales related:

Here is a premium perk a bunch of us want: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/208835197-Set-Goals-based-on-Elevation-gained

Please cut and paste that to reply to any sales email, since the zendesk is just ignoring us.

I'll sign back up for premium once it's back.

  • Haha, my new goal is to get at least 2k in elevation on 12/10!

  • Four years already?  Nothing from Strava?  What a huge disappointment.  This is an easy task that will make users happy.

  • @Jason Cauthen

'Celebration' of the Four year Anniversary of the start of this thread seem a great idea.

I shall get myself out of running semi-retirement, strap up my old busted knees and climb 480 metres* on the 10th December, just to honour the event.

    10 metres for every month.

Hows that for an elevation goal :- )

*other units of measurement are available.

  • Finally let my premium membership slide as well. They seem more concerned with implementing faux-Facebook features than the actual functional side that made Strava so appealing to begin with.

  • And please add the possibility to manually enter distance for stationary. You still don't need to include those metrics in the Challenges.

  • It's not a goal, but the new Training Log feature goes a long way to fulfilling my needs for elevation tracking. In fact, it's much more comprehensive than a goal. Nice job Strava. :-)

  • The training log is good for distance and time as if you achieve your weekly goal  the log will have the goal highlighted in red for the week displayed which you can see at a glance and you can change the view to see how far you went over/under for that week.

Depending on the time of year/season and my other commitments outside cycling my weekly goals will change regularly so when  it appears red on the training log I have achieved my set goal for that week. Just a pity I can not set an elevation goal or combination or goals.

Andrew I also use VeloVeiwer.com which will on the summary page gives you a more deeper breakdown log of you activities. If you ride a number of bikes can display log for all or individual bikes. Also option of displaying day/week/month and can compare e.g. Jan 2014 to Jan in previous years for your for your time/distance/elevation/speed/PRs

  • It would be great to be able to set long term goals and track them. Also would be great to set elevation goals.

  • YES please include climbing goals!

How about a score: the more climbing metres per kilometre the bigger the score ?

  • I'd love to see elevation goals, surely can't be that difficult to implement.

Would also like to be able to set monthly and annual goals.

How about a custom goal where you set the metric and time period yourself?

  • Please add this feature - so many of us in mountain biking only care about elevation feet for goal....

  • Hi i want to make a climbing goal for 2016 of 100,000 meters. Unfortunatly even premium account doesnt have this option which means for me that i dont have a reason to buy premium. Things like climbing in cycling are really important, just as important as distance and speed. A real pity strava doesnt have the option. Please let me know asap if you are planning on adding it!!!

  • Hello Strava!  I just set an annual goal for vertical feet in 2016, and bummed it isn't an option for annual goals.   I road bike and mountain bike.   A distance goal favors the road bike, but vertical is a metric that seems about equally good for either bike.   I am happy to beta test this feature!

  • Annual goals only available to premium members (http://blog.strava.com/set-an-annual-goal-11291/?utm_source=strava-desktop&utm_medium=dorado&utm_campaign=annual-goals-dorado&utm_content=z11) for something that should have taken 20 minutes (not over a year to implement). The only reason I'm a premium member is to get 2 months of free Zwift. Low class move by Strava considering there are so many better apps and websites out there.

  • I don't understand why in strava it is so restrict in distance goal only. The posibility of combing several aspects as elevation, time, average pace. Average cadence is feasible and would be much more useful. Then I would think about becoming a premium user!

  • An update on this would be most welcome, distance goal is a great feature but climbing would add another weekly/annual goal for people to strive for.

  • Absolutely need elevation goals.  Why doesn't my elevation cumulate...instead it subtracts the downhill from the uphill and makes it look like I was running flat. So stupid.

  • Add me to the list.  Lots of great ideas here, annualized, suffer score for elevation etc.  Climbing is a critical metric to track.

  • Another  vote for elevation goals... I know I'll be canceling my premium membership after this trial month, very disappointed with the lack of features for premium.

Not to mention that there is not a single comment from Strava on this thread.
