Analysis graphs are blank if there is no GPS data

On the mobile APP, the HEART RATE recordings do NOT show at all! Only the Web they show.

Customer Support told me that: "For the graphs to fill on the iPhone app, there must be distance/speed data in your file."

If this is the case, then this is a serious FLAW in the Strava iPhone App.

The DESIGN TEAM needs to fix this asap. We are training and no one can see what & how we are doing due to an app Bug!

We are aware of the reported issues when viewing indoor activities with no GPS data on the Strava app. I'm really sorry about the frustration, and the lack of progress on this front. The issue is that with no GPS data, there is no recorded distance and all mobile graphs are based on distance and not time. On the Strava website, analysis graphs work for both distance and time. Because of this, the Strava app does not fully support the viewing of indoor activities at this time.

I don't have any timelines or updates on when this will get fixed, but it's on our radar.

  • I agree with these comments. I use my HRM during a Spinning class and after after uploading the activity I would like to see my HR data on my phone app. This data is visible on my laptop but not on the app which is quite frustrating.

    Thanks

  • I have a similar issue. I train on my indoor trainer with my Garmin Edge 510 and when im done it uploads to Strava. I have the time and the Suffer score but not the HR data or Cadence as seen on the activity when viewing it on the website. This ONLY happens when training indoors ( I turn off the Garmin's GPS when training indoors )

This is quite frustrating, Strava team please do something about this as it makes no sense. I was under the impression the app is simply mirroring the activity data that's saved on the website!?

  • I agree. Very frustrating as I use my mobile app 98% of the time instead of the Strava website which displays the heart rate but negative reading on the app.

Thing is though - my strava friends pick up the heart rate reading avg - max on their mobile app? This should be a bug fix?

  • STRAVA

    DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

    THIS IS NOT A "FEATURE"

It is a BUG/functionality of STRAVA that is seriously failing !

  • I agree and wold vote to have this feature included.  While I'm not an app developer, it seems like it shouldn't be that difficult as the data is there, it shows up on the web, and there is a blank graph on the app just waiting to show it with the max and average already there below it.  Thanks.

  • I have the same issue, using ios 10.2 an Strava 5.9.0. There are no HR graphs in the app but on the web when uploading data for indoor training. Any fix?

  • Agreed. Just began doing indoor spins and don't really use cadence or speed tools with my simple setup. Just looking to get the heart rate up so used a heart rate monitor... But not visible in the app. Not exactly critical to me, but seems silly that it's there but just doesn't show.

  • Same problem for me. Still not any answer from the support?

  • Also agree - seems stupid not to display the available data

  • This problem is on 5.11.0 (Beta) as well. All graphs are based on distance and in case there is non distance, then it doesn't work. It could fallback to Time based graph... A button that could switch to distance/time based graph should be enough as we have on web.

  • The same for me, trying to keep track of HR effort using "Bike Indoors" with Garmin Fenix 3 in the gym but no HR data on Strava, only AVG and MAX values but not HR vs. time graph.

is this a Strava or a Garmin issues? Either way you should talk to each other guys... thanks

  • What's even more confusing is that my run data (HR, pace, etc) graphs show up on the mobile app. Bike data does not.

  • Same here. It is really annoying, especially the fact that the initial report of this issue was 18 month ago. Please get this fixed.

  • Oh, this is really weird. After almost one year ago & still any progress with this issue. I was considering that strava is the only application what I need but... probably not.

  • Facebook like features are more important than fixing bugs and removing inconsistency between platforms. I know that being a paying customer will not help, then at least do it for other frustrated users.

  • Hi.  I agree with the comments.  Where there is no GPS distance recorded and ride is marked as a stationary trainer then show the workout as time based as per the website.

  • Hi. Looking over these posts, nothing seems to have changed in nearly 2 years since this issue was first raised. Strava, please tell us - is this going to be fixed in the foreseeable or should we be looking elsewhere for such a fundamental piece of support for indoor training? Yours, frustrated.

  • It's simply ridiculous that instead of fixing this since 2016 they just update the official answer without any deadline or "it's on roadmap" promise. Strava mobile app is useless for indoor sports. Great.

OK, I'll use then Strava as a secondary - "jump" - site to spread my WO-logs and I'll analize the data with other providers which have a decent mobile app, too. Cheers.

  • I agree! Can this be added on the app as well?
