Turn By Turn Notifications For Wahoo Bolt

Hi,

Been reading up on the Wahoo Bolt GPS unit and it was mentioned that using the Strava route builder does not allow for the Wahoo Bolt to offer TBT directions, however, using alternative websites like RidewithGPS or Kamoot does. Will this ever be looked into?

I much prefer the simple Strava route builder interface, and this is something of importance to me.

  • Another vote here for adding this feature. I love Strava's route building feature and as a premium user this really should be included.

  • Please Strava, sort this out ASAP. I can either give you my premium sub or pay for Ridewith GPS. What's it to be guys? Good grief ...

  • It would be nice if strava product management could at least provide a quick post as to why they wont implement this seemingly simple feature

  • It has all been said, this cannot be true... Please guys, at least give us some explanation and if possible some feedback if the feature is coming or not!

  • Strava has made it abundantly clear that they don't care what their customers want. They've built up their business, and now they're going to run it into the ground by ignoring customers. I'm not going to renew my premium subscription next year.

  • According to the official comment pinned on the first page they are considering adding the feature sometime in 2018. Hopefully this is still the case. Would be nice if someone from strava support provides an update.

  • Strava please address this before you become the 'has been' rather than 'go to' !

  • I am getting more and more disappointed by Strava support. No turn by turn navigation with Strava routes on my Wahoo bike computer, no power metrics in the Strava app.

All of this can happen, but the thing that disappoints me is that there is no reaction of any kind on the suggestions and questions from their PAID customers. This is crazy guys!

I read on this forum that some other guys are cancelling their Strava premium membership. I'm thinking the same at the moment because I have rarely felt treated so unsatisfying as a customer.

  • +1 would be very helpful to have this turn by turn option within Strava route builder (and while we're there, also including the upload GPX file - which is now a separate Strava Lab feature - would be great)

  • I will be voting with my wallet & will not pay for Strava Premium until TBT for ELEMNT functionally is added to Strava Routes.

  • I just switched over to a Bolt from a Garmin 820. Strava, please add turn by turn, this is ridiculous.

  • I’m never going to upgrade to premium, unless this is fixed. Congrats on losing another paying customer to a competing company.

  • Please Strava sort this out. You advertise Wahoo Bolt and Route Builder in the main bit of the app now FFS, seems little disingenuous not to fully support something you're advertising.

  • I have started to use RideWithGPS for mapping and it works a treat with my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt.  It syncs routes and rides perfectly, and has even started logging segments and leaderboards, just like Strava.  I can easily share my routes with other non Wahoo users, so whilst the interface is not great - the free one at least - it is starting to diminish the point of Strava.

I guess Strava are just maximising their revenue from the platform in preparation for a sale to Garmin or the like so developing useful features for its existing customers is low down on the list, unless it is a Premium subscription add on - now there is an idea Strava!

  • Using RideWithGPS is by no means a solution Calliope! Also it was known for a long time; Komoot & RWG wil give you TBT (and other programs as well). Strava has the "pointers"....you can see them in your Route....but for a strange reason they are NOT in de routefile you download. Strangely enough this same file DOES work with TBT on a Garmin 820 device (and maybe other Garmin's/devices too)!

  • Has this been sorted yet? If not, any ETA?

  • I think this should be an easy add, there are plenty of features I do not use and are not in line with current thinking TSS v Relative Effort, NP v Weighted Average Power. I have been a Premium Member for around 5 years but will go to basic membership as I have to use 3rd party platforms to fulfil all of my requirements. I wonder if I will notice enough difference?

  • A friend saved a route on Strava, I exported as a TCX file, imported into Komoot and saved.

Turned on my Elemnt bolt, it synced and the ride was there, with full TBT :)

All in it took around 2 minutes, not an elegant solution, but workable until Strava find time to provide native support for TBT on Wahoo devices.

  • I asked Wahoo about this whole situation and the reply I got was that they are working with Strava on this. That's it.

  • Asked that too and the answer was "we tried that for years now....." so no hope there I think!

  • Just tried out to build a route with Strava route builder and I saw that there are cue sheets included! i will get back after testing them to see how these work.

  • Just to add to the chorus, as an Elemnt owner I too would like to see Strava's route planner spew out usable TBT data for Wahoo (and other) devices. While other route planner options exist, I find Strava's much easier to use over the alternatives, but still are relegated to using Komoot/RWGPS/... just to get TBT. Despite being completely new to all of this Strava stuff, I'd have happily upgraded to the Premium version immediately had TBT been available. But after reading this thread and seeing the inaction on Strava's side I've decided to vote with my wallet and forgo the upgrade until TBT becomes available. Not that I have any hope of this ever happening though; rumour has it that Garmin's a major investor in Strava, possibly actively blocking the addition of this feature just to keep a leg up over its competition.

  • There is a simple way around this, create your route in Strava, import into Komoot and save.
Your Bolt will sync with Komoot and TBT will be shown .
The process takes less than 2 minutes, get a grip people, it’s annoying that Strava don’t have TBT for Wahoo users, but not a deal breaker.

  • My solution was to drop my Premium Strava membership and instead use Ride With GPS which is free. If you create your routes there you get TBT. I still use Strava but not for routes and I don't miss it a bit.

  • PC Mountain: I don't think that Ride With GPS offers TBT to free subscribers. I believe you need to upgrade to at least a "basic" account in order to get TBT directions. Am I missing something? Thanks
