Sync Nike+ to Strava

Hi,

I've started using Strava to track my cycling and like the app.  I have however already got a long history of running with Nike+ GPS devices and am happy with what I have.  I understand that Nike now offer the ability to integrate with their service through the developer.nike.com, is this something you could consider and a new feature.  It would be nice to see my training data in one place without the need to buy a new GPS watch (i.e. a garmin).

Thanks

  • I had the exact same issue as Luke, with half-marathon times showing up around 20 minute mark and so forth. Wish it were true but unfortunately not!!!!

  • Thanks Luke and Toby - Both of you have support tickets in our system, and you should hear back from us soon. If you have not done so already, please provide examples in your support tickets. Thanks.

  • It's possible the data didn't get exported properly, rather than a problem Strava's end.

You can check data in the GPX file by opening it in a web browser (drag & drop) or text editor.

  • Thanks Andi -

FYI, we're reaching out to the developer of the sync tool, Jérémy Coelho, to investigate how the files might be exported from Nike+. We'll keep you posted.

  • Hi

I had added a checkbox in the app if you have problem with your pace when you import the file into strava

For explanation, sometimes in your datas, the GPS points are each seconds and sometime there are each 5 seconds. Nike don't give me informations about the interval between each point ...

Tell me if you still have the problem

  • Thanks for responding Jeremy. I've had that problem with all my Nike+ runs I'm afraid, I've spoken to Strava and they don't seem to know how to fix it. How would I go about it?

  • @Jérémy Coelho

    Thanks for the update.

I have just tried it again this morning, with my latest run of around 6 miles which Nike tracked a total time of 41 mins which was accurate. However in the export, if I check the pace problem checkbox, and upload to Strava it sees the total time of 1hr 10, and without the checkbox shows 13mins 15! (I wish.. Haha)

Just reporting in, thanks again for your efforts!

Happy to provide data if it helps...

  • FYI - When i had my exporter up and running (since retired since the API changes - sorry guys). I found that the best way to properly map GPS data to the workout, was to dynamically calculate the GPS interval for every workout. Although the GPS data wasn't timestamped, the intervals for a specific workout would (nearly always) be a consistent interval. Best option was to take the length of the workout, divide it by the number of GPS datapoint, and then use that value for the GPS interval. (Its not always a 1, 5 or 10 seconds)

  • I used the Nike+ running app on my iPhone, with the check box it seemed to be quite a bit closer than without it, but still quite a way out!!!

  • I have the same problem as many users above. I can't use the mattstuehler app as it doesn't recognise my credentials so I am using the more recent app from Jeremy, http://www.jeremycoelho.fr/projets/nike-exporter/#/

This lets me log in a view all of my runs but the pace\duration of the run is wrong both with and without the pace correction option turned on.  I agree with what Craig has said above in that the data points can't be 1 sec or 5 sec apart, mine must be something in between.

Many thanks to all of you who have been creating the apps, whether they work correctly or not, it's much appreciated that you are trying to solve our problems.

  • My conversion with coelho's site works great :) I use my Nike Sportswatch and the distance/time is usually pretty accurate. In general, there's extra distance tacked onto my run (from 300-700m) when I upload it to strava, but that happened with other conversion sites as well I believe. Thanks for creating the tool, Jeremy!

  • Jeremy you are a star.  Pace is much better now when exporting from Nike+ and I have managed to move across 100 runs fairly quickly.

Thanks for looking at this so quickly, much appreciated and you've made me a happy man :-)

  • Hi Toby Hall

What's the difference between the nike pace/duration and the pace/duration after strava import ?

Now I estimate the interval between each GPS point depending on the duration of the RUN and the number of gps point.

No idea why it's buggy only for you :(

  • Last few weeks I've been using Chrome extension "NikePlus Exporter", which works very nice in order to export Nike+ workouts in both GPX and TCX. Then you can easily import to Strava:

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nikeplus-exporter/phmneponhagbcfbkkbagflkfnjooeecl?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon

I hope you find this useful!!!

  • Hey Jeremy

The pace difference tends to vary quite abit between runs, its hell of a lot closer now then it was before the update but its still out, I don't know if sending you the files would be of any use. I have no idea why its doesn't seem to be working for me. I've used an iPhone for all the runs just with the nike+ app and haven't done anything strange to my knowledge!!!!!!! Thanks again Jeremy for building this app in the first place its a huge help.

  • You will always have a little difference between Nike and Strava when you import (it was the same with Rhys McCaig tool)

It's because of the estimation between each GPS point and the way Strava parse the file.

For example on my previous run :

    • Nike : 10,03km in 55:03 at 5'29"/km
    • Strava : 10,0km in 55:01 minutes at  5'27"/km

I can't do better with retrieved nike data

    Regards

  • Hello everyone,

I had the same problem as you guys, tried the different tools available here (thanks for those by the way!) but found I did not really care for the GPX files and the cumbersome process of uploading them manually afterwards.

So, I decided to come up with my own tool, strictly for Strava users this time, that will allow you to export your runs from Nike+ directly onto your Strava account: nike.vinz.xyz

I've been using it for the past couple weeks without any issues, so I am excited to share it here with you guys. Please feel free to shoot me an email if you have any issues/suggestions. I'd recommend first trying it out with a few runs as I only had my running data to test it against.

    Happy running!
