Display Current (instantaneous) Speed on the mobile app Record screen

I would like to use Strava on my iPhone as my bike computer and replace my current wireless bike computer.  About the only feature that is missing from Strava to have the same functionality as my computer is a speedometer that shows my current speed.  Other GPS apps, such as Runtastic, do this so it shouldn't be a big deal for Strava to implement.  Thanks.

  • Come on Strava...please listen to your consumers...a lot of people want this!  Current Speed and Current Cadence should be in the next update!  Let us know!

  • Yes -  please add current speed.  I have to run another app to monitor my current speed.

  • Must have current speed and cadence on the record-> Stats page.  I just downloaded cyclemeter because they listen to their users.  if you worry about liability just get your lawyers to design some fine prints that we are all going to accept anyways.  don't lose your lead by refusing to listen to customers.  Your annual fee for premium is the highest and I refuse to pay for it when there are plenty choice and more coming.

  • ** UPDATE **
    I have discontinued Strava premium membership ($6 per month!) because of their failure to communicate with us or comment on this much needed feature.

    I will continue using the free version because I have logged 6 months of rides already. But I now have to run two apps on my phone when I ride, Runtastic gives me BOTH current speed and percent grade of the hill I am climbing. One hill I was climbing displayed as 6% grade (on Google maps?) but turned out there were sections that were 9% and 11% when I was actually on the ride. The Runtastic app also allows you to select which stats you want to display on the home screen during the ride. Very nice. I'm also going to take a look at RunKeeper and CycleMeter (recommended by comments in this thread.)

  • Must say that I am starting to consider dropping Strava.  I'm still using my Garmin on most every ride, and I can download the track for any ride I only have in Strava and add it to my Garmin Training Center, and then upload them all to MapMyRide or something else, just as I did with Strava in the first place.

  • So the reply to these many requests was that there was going to be a redesign of the record screen by the end of last year; no such redesign occurred, no feedback was given.

    I'm starting to think that the way these companies handle issues like this is
    a) pretend to listen to users;
    b) stick to your original roadmap and focus on the features that can bring extra revenue;
    c) be sure that some paying customers are going to drop off the app because of it all;
    d) rely on the fact that users of other apps are going through similar frustrations and will drop those to come here;
    e) repeat;

  • Hello everyone - This is a bit of a duplicate feature suggestion as the one seen here:

    https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/21725348-Display-cadence-current-speed-when-recording-on-mobile-app

    The latest update posted on the thread is:

    "Changes to the mobile app recording experience are coming late-Spring 2015. Displaying cadence and current speed on the Strava app while recording are planned features. Stay tuned, and thanks for your feedback!"

    Thanks for your continued feedback and for voting on this feature suggestion. We appreciate it!
