What device should I use for recording indoor swimming?

I want to record my indoor swimming on Strava. What device should I use to upload my time and distance? When I'm biking or running I just use my phone, but that's not an option for swimming offcourse. Can somebody advise me about this?

  • I use a Garmin Swim for pools.  Much cheaper and simpler than a triathlon watch (I have one of those too but only use it for open water swimming).

  • Garmin Fenix 2 or 3 works in theory, but the times are messed up for Strava import for now.

  • Use Garmin's "Swim" Watch, but you'll need to sign onto Garmin's connect website, a bit like Strava, and upload "Swim" date via a computer using ANT stick, and then share the connect data with Strava.

Its ball ache, but worked for me for a couple of years. I now use Apples "Watch 2", which is better than the "swim", but Apple don't share much data, so I use a 3rd party App called Swim.com. Free on the AppStore. It's a great App, (shame I can't say the same for the website) but currently Swim.com can't share data with Strava due to API's I understand but worth checking out, as I was told this a few months back in 2016. If you know more, please let me know, as it's been a right pain for quite a while. Cheers A
