Max sped in Blue and Grey. Explain

Hi

Can anyone explain the Max speed on Starva.  See image.  The max speed is in Grey but I think the blue is actually the max speed.

  • The grey in the background is the elevation profile. If you notice, your max speeds shown in blue occur on the steep downslopes of the grey shapes in the background. If you look above where you see this display, you should see the elevation profile by itself which should match the grey background shape.

  • Hi

Why did the maximum speed show as 46.5mph?   Thanks

  • That is a little odd, but it doesn't look like it corresponds to the grey area behind either way. If they grey area in the background was the speed, the max would have been about 50mph since they are 10mph increments on the graph. That must be just a glitch in the GPS data. It may have lost signal for a few seconds and then "caught up" when it got signal. Not uncommon.

  • The grey is elevation.

The max speed of 46.5 not being shown on the blue graph... maybe adding confusion, is because Strava averages/filters the heck out of the graphs.  So it is scaling the Y-axis based on the max... not the displayed Max.  if you go on the web and zoom in... you'll be able to see the real spikes of speed/elevation/HR etc.
