Apple Watch "workout" not showing calories

When I use the Apple Watch Strava app to log a "workout" (which is the only option that available related to weight training) the calories burnt are not shown on the post when the activity is uploaded to Strava. I have all of the permissions turned on, have deleted and re-downloaded the app on my watch, and my watch has the most updated OS.

  • For weight training? As in lifting? I don't think there's a way for the app to know, or quantify how many reps you did, type of lift (curls, bench press, legs, etc), nor the amount of weight on the bar.

  • No, I am simply talking about when you finish the activity through your apple watch and it uploads to strava, the calories are not logged, nor do they show on the posted activity in the strava app, even though the apple watch is tracking the calories behind the scenes on its own apps like the activity tracker and such.

So to clarify: you open strava on your apple watch, at the bottom of the list of activities to choose from is "Workout." If you select that and do whatever workout you have planned, then finish it and upload it to strava, there is no calorie count. It only shows the following: Elapsed Time, Avg Heart Rate, and Max Heart Rate.

  • I have exactly the same issue. Calories are recorded for other activities but not “workout”

  • I have the same problem. I select "Workout" on my Apple watch and after the workout and sync my workout shows 0 calories. But other workouts like indoor cycling or run shows correct calorie count.
