  • Set up a club (Emigrating from Facebook group and google sheets) with that challenge of completing the year (2021 in this case) in distance. However, there is no way to show members distance for the year even though it is calculated by strava on each members individual page. Multi sport also shows time rather than distance. Being able to either join or set up a distance challenge over a full year is really needed.

  • Dear Strava, the leaderboard function turned out to be a key motivational tool for our new cycling club in 2020 and many of the members would like to create a Nordic Ski Club with a leaderboard function now that the cycling season is over here and we have snow on the ground.  Why are Strava clubs limited to so few sports?  Thank you.

  • Can we please the ability to create clubs based on sports other than running, cycling or tri?  Those are great, but would be good to have a skimo club for example that shows activity totals from skimo/backcountry (time, distance, vert..).  Thanks!

  • Please could you advise how I can go about selecting other activities other than running or cycling on our clubs leaderboard? I would like to show a lot more activities like rowing / paddling to count to towards the leaderboard please otherwise it excludes some of my members and what they contribute towards the club.

  • Many people are asking why multi sports cannot be broken out in a club.  I operate a charity working with adults who have learnng disabilities and many volunteers.  I wanted to offer walking, running and cycling in the club.  However, this is not really possible inside Strava right now.  I have to set up separate clubs for running and cycling in order to get meaningful leaderboards, and there is no option to have walking as the primary sport!  I really feel that Strava are being too slow to respond to the many requests and position themselves as the go to app for all things sport logging.  They are missing a trick here.  Muck around much longer and someone will come out with a better app that will steal all their clothes.  Take note please.

  • It would be nice to have all activities counted on a club leaderboard but measured by their intensity score. This way even walking could be included - it would just add very little to intensity numbers.

  • I'm a little bit disappointed with the lack of engagement by the Strava team here. The page has been set up by Strava specifically to gather users 'Club' requirements. The vast majority of the requirements are to add other sports to the leaderboard.

There are 4 options for clubs; running, cycling, triathlon or 'other'. The Strava team has stated that 'other' only includes Swimming, Running and Cycling. What is the difference between 'other' and Triathlon?

The 'other' setting is surely just a filter...is it a huge job to remove any activity filters for 'other'? This would go at least some way to providing what users are clearly clamouring for here?

  • Please change the club leaderboards to track more than just swim, run, ride. Please make annual and monthly club leaderboards an option.

I'm not sure why I think adding this request again will make a difference but I'll try it. As so many others have said, we would like to track more activities on our club leaderboard than are currently offered. With all the features Strava currently has I don't really understand why these changes would be difficult to make. Well, here's to hoping when Strava reads this they are finally like "Alright, alright, we get it this is a totally rad idea and would improve our users experience with clubs, and because our users are important to us we will make it happen this week"

  • Regular Runners in USA 14.5 million now.

Regular Walkers (including Hikers) in USA 80 million now.

Future trend based on aging population: Runners will significantly decrease, walkers will significantly increase.

    Strava, make walking a priority.  🚶‍♀️ 🥾 👟

    • I want to be able to track all training, including Nordic skiing on a club leaderboard. It will allow our club coach to monitor athlete training and development. The reason that is important is because of adherence to our club training plan and to monitor for overtraining. An example of when I needed that was during the lockdown in the summer due to COVID 19 where feedback directly from club athletes was limited.  This would give Strava an edge over training peaks and likely lead to more subscriptions (at least from our club members).

  • Has Strava or Crispin addressed any of the points and requests above regarding walking within Strava clubs? Whether it is something that is coming/in the pipeline or whether it is not something that they are looking to pursue? I appreciate that the functionality of clubs as they stand has been linked above, but it would be good to know whether there are any further developments and improvements coming to the Club function of Strava.

I know plenty of people who would like walking to be included within their running club or included within a separate walking or hiking club. It would be good if there was an option to select distance or time for the club.

    Thank you.

  • Hi - I am admin for a small Strava bicycle club of professionals in San Francisco, and it gets pretty competitive to see who can do the most miles, most elevation, highest average speed, etc. in a week. Since winter has hit I see many more people doing virtual rides, and while virtual miles are still miles, the intention of this club it to get people out and about regardless of the weather. I don't think someone's miles in a heated basement watching TV should count in the same category as the person who got up early, got out in the rain and rode up a mountain.

I'd like to request a simple set of check boxes in the club admin that could include or not include certain activities. This would not affect the user's stats who is doing a virtual ride, it just wouldn't tally them in the club leaderboard if excluded. Examples would be: exclude virtual miles, exclude ebike miles, or maybe more simply, just select the types of activities that the club leaderboard should track.

    Thanks,

  • Hi As many have asked before annual totals would be great. This would be good as a club as we could post comments of how as a club we have travelled around the world by the end ofnthe year. This would be great team motivation and also show how during these unprecedented times a reasonably new running club has been able to continue to keep in touch with there members.

Additionally the weekly totals are currently distance, time, and climb. Could there be something else added like most activities recorded? This is good as some runners would never be covering such mileage but may still appear on the leaderboards and increase motivation. Some other ideas may include comparisons to previous weeks. All of these will help see new members progress. Also would it be possible to have a new member symbol for the first few weeks. Where we are not meeting up some new members may not recieve the welcome the club would provide and it is very hard to stay inspired without the support.

  • Does Strava monitor and respond to questions on this forum? Would be great to know you are working on this functionality or if not it would be good to know that as well so I can look for a different platform for what we need.

  • I agree with everyone, I would love to be able to choose the activities that count towards club leaderboards, not everyone runs or cycles! And why do the Strava team not engage more with this forum, why bother creating it, or is it just a tick box exercise? I will be looking for a different app I think, nothing looks like it's being resolved here!

  • Strava team, there have been multiple requests here for more activities to be included in clubs. As a start you could VERY simply remove the activity restrictions from “other”. Your short answers telling us how it currently works or that you are listening are more annoying than useful. You should be able to see that from the negative feedback to your questions. If you are listening please reply directly to the issue that’s being raised over and over again! Once again, can you either remove the restriction from the “other” category, or create an “any”. Ideally you’d allow the group admin to select included activities from a list but changing “other” or adding “any” would do for a start. Thanks!

  • The amazing thing about the lack of response on this, from Strava, is that it isn't a difficult feature to implement, at all. The simplest thing they could do, is to remove the existing filter that limits which activities count towards the leaderboard.
The next simple step is to put the filter back, but with control over what gets filtered.
The options are endless and not massively complicated - all that's needed is a desire to do it...

  • Nice email from Strava today, they made massive improvements. I just wonder why they can't make the simple change so many have requested.... or even explain why they won't make the change.

  • Can we just allow walking in the leaderboards please! It's easy to filter by sport for those that are ultra competitive but also allows all ability levels to be included.

  • Strava -  I work in the IT industry, our company takes pride in Mental Health awareness and supporting our colleagues.  During this pandemic we have a Club Leaderboard, however Walking is something that can not be currently added, you could add your walk as a run but its not a run.

I am struggling to understand why this "activity" can not be added or the leaderboard can be customised by the owner.  Another point is that some people are unable to Run and therefore chose to walk, so please have a rethink, how you could recode your website and app and drop a new release that would accommodate your paying customers requests.

beluga bob  thank you for coming up with a workaround, which I hope Strava takes note off, Sadly I am unable to use this due to it being NON standard software, if you know where I am coming from, however, thank you.

Stava - Look forward to your response, where your athletes' are treated inclusively whatever activity they choose to do.

    Thank you

  • As mentioned previously,  having a simple option of awarding a badge when a person completes a challenge, route, distance etc would be a great little addition to the app, instead of just allowing those perks for the big brands.

  • Hi,

I run an 'invite only' group to keep my work running club members together.  As such there are a significant number of members in my Club all doing their own thing.  Once a month however, many Club members take part in a monthly 'Event' and I collate those results into league tables throughout our event season.

(I will resist the urge to bemoan the lack of useful functionality of creating an 'Event'.)

A large number of members do not wish to set their general privacy settings to 'Everyone'.

Problem : Sharing singular activities to Everyone does not appear to make the activity visible within the Club

Problem : I don't want to have to Follow all of my Club members.  It's my personal feed and I don't want it cluttered with the hundreds of activities that collectively happen each day.

Would it be possible to allow users to have a Privacy Setting that allowed activities to be share with specific Clubs that they are a member of?  Note that this would need to be able to choose which Club activities are shared with as not everyone will want all their activities shared with all Club's.

  • Strava club member list for our run club is not alphabetically sorted, first few pages appear to be in order of most recently joined the club page, with the remaining in alpha order.

Can the club functionality have some sort of mechanism to sort by name alphabetically maybe also with a filter of some kind so that we can find lapsed members easier.

  • It would be helpful if club admins could manage the club member list by sorting (alphabetically, membership date, country, etc.) and searching for a particular club member.

  • Our club is for roller skating. Which isn't even a sport as it is. We are unable to track on the group at all. No one cares about biking or running on our group. Please make it possible to track rollerskating for a group.

  • Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the support, but don't hold your breath.  It's nearly 8 months now and despite having the most votes and same request in probably 50% of all the comments there has been nothing from Strava.

  • As a club I want to be able to choose the activities that count toward the leaderboard. It will allow me to make activities inclusive for all club members. The reason that is important is because we have a broad range of members who undertake activities other than running, swimming and cycling (e.g., hiking, paddling etc). We like to motivate each other and would like to encourage all our members to get outdoors and be physical. Limiting the activities to running, cycling and swimming excludes a vast majority of our members who already struggle to be motivated to get outside and be healthy.

  • Also adding to this:

We have a company/team internal "100 days of walking" challenge.
Within the club settings we can only make it a "running" club - but that kinda defeats the idea. Especially when there are members who are running in addition to the challenge.
It would be great to have the activities, which count towards a club/challenge, could be manually chosen by the Club Admins.

Thanks a bunch in advance for making this available!

  • Thank you everybody for the feedback. Our team has been busy at work, focused on improving Clubs and making the Club experience for athletes on Strava more enjoyable and motivating. I know the team is currently still researching and working on these updates, though we hope to have some updates in the not-so-distant future, so stay tuned!
