  • Thomas Larsen - All you have to do is open the activity and use the "crop" feature.  In the app, if you click on the activity, then click on the three dots in the top right of the screen, then select "crop activity".  Follow instructions in there to cut out the portion in the vehicle and all is good.

Sorry to hear about the crash.

Just crop the ride and that will remove the KOMs.

In some cases it might be handy to have the ability to remove individual KOMs, but in this case a simple crop should suffice as they are all at the end of the ride.

  • Thomas Larsen:  The best way I know to delete segments is to crop the recorded activity.
In the Strava Web UI, go to the activity and look for the three dots at the bottom of the box on the left-hand side.  Click on that; one of the options will be "Crop".  You should be able to trim off the tail end of the activity.  Good luck!

  • My Stats on profile info for Bike/Run/Swim

You are able to see your annual totals in "my stats" on your profile info site, like overall distance and time etc..
This is shown for Bike/Run/Swim - these three activity types are probably the most common ones most people are interested in.
Especially in winter time, many users are doing indoor cycling / virtual cycling which is also summing up in the bike category.

In my view the indoor training rides can not be compared to the "real" rides on the road.
Same effort in watts but higher speed and longer distance achieved over the same time.

Therefore, when I am sitting on an indoor trainer (rare scenario anyway), I do track these virtual rides as workout, to avoid getting these numbers added in my bike totals, as they would give no correct totals for bike in the end. Mixed totals from two different activity types in my view.
If I would track these virtual cycling activities as normal cycling, I would not be able to compare a year where virtual cycling+ outdoor cycling is summed up in the totals for bike, with a year where I have not been doing any virtual cycling at all.

My request would be: isn't it possible to enhance these 3 main categories to become 4 categories by splitting bike into "bike" and "virtual bike" ?
(or even better: having the feature to select all different types of activities in My Stats totals)

  • Prinz Pitter:  This is why I use VeloViewer.  It's an addition £10 a year (which I personally consider very affordable) and does an exceptional job of allowing you to filter and view your results in a variety of different ways.  You can, for example, distinguish between "real" and "virtual" rides, even filter on a specific bike, distinguish between walks, runs, and hikes, etc.

It loads data directly from your Strava account for analysis.

  • It will be great to add to My Segments table a column with your Rank.

This would allow users to quickly identify their rank on segments and is a nice way to motivate them to keep improving to make it to the top 10. I want to challenge myself on all my segments at least make it to the top 10 but I have to go one by one to find my rank. On My Segments table will be just right to have that information.

  • Give up section records.

Something there is GPS hiccup that makes you have a great record for a particular section but you know it's just that a GPS hiccup. A way to give up that section record without putting the whole race private will be a great way to keep a fair section score for all.

  • Comparing activities on the same route - similar to "Fly-Bys"

Hi, I think it would be a great idea to develop the ability for a user to comare their efforts on the same route over time. I don't just mean a data analysis page, but a dynamic view of one ride (or many) against another, in a similar format to how the Fly-Bys page works.

If a user could select the particualr efforts they wanted to compare, then view the dynamic map, it would be advantageous to see where they performed better today, compared to other days.

For example - Today I rode faster up a particualr hill than I did yesterday, even though my overall time was slower today for the same route.

I understand that by reviewing segment times I can see the same thing, but if a route has multiple segments, this can be time consuming and it does not easily illustrate where the performance differences lie.

Sounds like most of this is solved just by making some longer segments for the whole route you want to compare?

  • William O.

True, but this would just give me a data analysis of both rides.

What I'm after is a map of the route showing both rides as they progress along the route - like the Fly Bys app. As a graphical comparison of the rides, it would show the variation in speeds for different sections in a much easier format to visualise, as opposed to a simple performance analysis comparision.

  • @kev fisher - if you make a segment of the entire route, you can use the segment “compare” feature. Just click on “ compare effort” and then sort by your own activities and select which ones you want to compare. It will work similar to the flyby and show you where along the route you were faster or slower.

  • Would be nice to have the ability to compare similar workouts to see how you are progressing and how it compares to historical resorts in Strava. Here is an example from a competing running application. Right now there are just "Best Efforts" in Strava and it only ranks them to the top 3 (I believe). The "Best efforts" should be the "rank and compare"; it is also not clickable to see a ranked list.  Would be nice to see how the current workout is ranked for all similar workouts. You cannot see a historical list in Strava but can in a competing application. The "rank and compare" workouts could be a premium features.

  • When I scroll down my activity feed, it does not show all my exercises or races  older than a few months back. I can find them through Training Log or Training calendar, but it requires a bit of an effort. And I am not even sure that Log or Calendar go all the way to the beginning. It would be nice to keep "Races" in activity feed forever. For example I like to run marathon races, and ski marathons. It would be nice to see all my marathon races in the list, and skip some training runs of 5 or 10 miles, if all the runs cannot be kept in the activity feed due to size or space limitations. Many other people, I am sure, would like to see their important races kept for longer periods of time as well.

  • @ Jason DeBerry Unless you want to compare results from different stadium courses, why don't you just click on "view matched activities" to compare your times over a particular course ? It shows you a list and a graph of times/speeds. Comparing different road or trail courses with different conditions is rather pointless, too many variables.

It would be nice if the list was sortable by times instead of just date but the graph is clear enough.

  • Hi Sergey Altynov! You should be able to see all of your activities on the activity feed using the "Your Activities" filter at the top of the page. However, if you are still not seeing all of your activities in this view, please let us know and we can start a support ticket for you. Keep in mind you can also access all of your activities in a list form using the "My Activities" page, found under the "Training" tab on Strava's web platform - this option also allows for searching through your past activities by keyword. Hope that helps!

  • I notice that the format of bike segment pages has recently changed.  It used to show KOM and QOM (which I understood) and now there seem to be 3 categories in the "Fastest Times" section - CR, KOM and QOM.  I'm guessing the CR is the faster of the KOM and QOM but so far for every segment I've looked at the CR is the same as the KOM - am I missing something ?   I also notice that on my profile the "KOMs" tab is now "KOMS / CRs" - is there a way to tell which are KOMs and which are CRs ?

  • Further to my note from yesterday, does anyone have a good explanation of how the new CR, KOM and QOM designations work for bike rides ?  I noticed today that the number of Segments listed on my new KOM/CR tab is slightly more than it was on my old KOM tab.  I thought at first I had got a couple of KOMs by default due to another athlete deleting their data or perhaps having an Activity flagged but this doesn't seem to be the case.  I also considered I may have a KOM that is not a CR because it's not as good as the QOM but I didn't find any of these.  After some digging I found a Segment where I previously had the KOM but lost it to another athlete.  The current leaderboard shows the other athlete at the top of the board and me second.  Confusingly the other athlete has the CR and I have the KOM.  If I filter the list to show only men then I am at the top.  The other athlete does not appear if I filter the list to show only women.  Hence I assume the other person has chosen either the "non-binary" or "prefer not to say" for their gender.

I fully accept an athlete's right to make such a choice.  I also think it could be unfair to women to compete against such people.  However, as a man I have no concerns about competing against such people.  Hence I'm struggling to see if there is real benefit to having 3 categories (CR, KOM and QOM) - would 2 be sufficient (one for women only and another for everyone).  If there are good reasons for the 3 categories could there at least be a way to identify the small number of Segments where an athlete is shown as KOM but not CR ?  As my profile combines both KOMs and CRs it gives a list that I think is too long as it shows a couple of Segments where I do not have the fastest time (and these are difficult to identify).

So basically you want an easy way to see where a woman has beaten you?

There definitely are segments I've found where a woman has the CR.

In future when someone takes a KOM off you, do you get two emails? One for KOM and one for CR?

What might be quite nice is something similar to what Sauce does, show you "Power Profile Badges" next to KOMs. This way you can see where you got a KOM even though you weren't at peak power. This might suggest you want to have another go if you don't want someone else to take it (or it's really technical).

  • Hi Ian Barton - great question! The top position on the Overall leaderboard for cycling activities will now hold the title of Course Record. This title is a more accurate reflection of the composition of the Overall leaderboard, which includes athletes from all gender identities. Queen and King of the Mountain will remain the title given to the athlete atop of the Women' and Men’s leaderboard for cycling activities. Because the CR is inclusive of athletes from all gender preferences, keep in mind that it is possible to have the top position (CR) as well as a KOM or QOM.

I think what Ian is getting at is that KOM now seems kinda redundant.

The KOM/CR tab shows both, but what this means is that it obscures where a (male) athlete doesn't hold the CR and is perhaps only 2nd or 3rd all time.

Many (male) athletes will feel that "only" holding the KOM and not the CR is not a "real" KOM.

For a lot of very competitive athletes the whole KOM tab is quite important to them, but the current functionality of the list is very basic.

I would also add that from a female athletes point of view knowing which QOMs are also CRs would be very welcome. Currently the only way to find out is to click through hundreds of QOMs to check manually. This is obviously very tedious and causes extra server load.

  • Thanks for the comments on this.  I looked at quite a large sample of Segments yesterday and found about 0.6% (7 out of about 1200) have a CR that is neither the KOM or QOM.  I assume this is because the CR holder has either deliberately not identified as male or female or has perhaps not completed their profile. I found 1 out of about 1200 where the QOM was better than the KOM, and hence is also the CR (on a Segment attempted by 6 people).

Based on my snapshot of the situation in my area it seems that the CR and KOM are the same for more than 99% of the Segments.  Hence I'm struggling to see why separation of these categories is important.  However, given that it has been decided to make this change I would like to have some way of identifying the small number of items where I have a KOM but not the CR - this would provide some challenge in trying to upgrade a few KOMs to CRs (at present the new KOMs / CRs tab shows both with no distinction).

On a related point, I realise that treatment of performances that equal an existing KOM was changed a few months ago.  It used to be that only the first person to achieve a leading time was flagged as KOM but now all equalling performances are treated the same way.  This is fine, although I always felt a performance that equalled what another person has done is not as impressive as exceeding it.  Hence it might be of interest to flag those KOM (or CR) performances that exceed all preceding ones and those that merely equal another athlete.

For what it's worth, I also looked at the number of Men and Women who have attempted Segments that have been attempted by at least 1000 people.  Generally the total number of Men and Women (determined by using the leader-board filters) was about 98% of the total number of people attempting a Segment, suggesting about 2% of athletes have chosen not to self-identify as Male or Female (or not completed their profile).

To answer William's question, a few days ago I got 2 messages to say I had lost 2 CRs but the links failed.  Yesterday I got 2 messages to say I had lost 2 unrelated KOMs (which were also CRs).  The links worked fine although there was no message about losing the CRs.  I'm guessing that Strava are still fine-tuning the notification system to adapt to the new categories.

  • Hello,

I am thinking about a new feature for track runners and track cyclists. It would be great to follow our PR on track with manual entries : 100m and 400m for track runners, 200m flying lap and 1000m for track cyclists for example. Each runner/cyclist could write manually their times and the date. It could be a private feature for Strava subscribers. I know there are some segments of athletics tracks and velodromes but times are not as precise as on a long segment on road.
    thank you for reading me

I wonder if the new system is simply the one deemed "least controversial" by Strava.

However I would hope that it is not controversial that a male athlete would always aspire to the CR and never think that a non-male athlete would have any sort of advantage over them due to their biological sex.

On the point of equal KOMs, I fully support this change. If you get a time on a Monday and I get the same time on a Tuesday, then those times are equally impressive. Strava segments don't have the same historical importance as the hour record or similar. I would also note that many of the older times are based on much less accurate GPS which in some cases can be shown to be an unfair advantage.

  • For all the same reasons it is helpful to see Estimated Best Efforts, PRs or personal best running times I think it'd be helpful/useful/interesting to see Estimated Best Efforts (etc) Swimming times. 100 yrd / 500 yrds / 1000 yrds / 1 mile and All time Longest Swim (all of this can be applicable to open water or lap swimming)

  • Virtual Climbs Not Recognized in Longest Climb Stat.

From Strava support: Although virtual activities contribute to annual ride and run stats, and virtual activities do contribute to your longest ride, virtual activities are not recognized to your longest climb, as the biggest climb stat will only take data from real GPS data recorded outdoors.

How to solve this conundrum? Add a virtual longest climb?

  • Hello,

It will be great to have KOMOR, a King of Montain Of Régulariti. It will be the best average time of our  5 or 10 best time on a segment.

And to have more poeple who said really that they are on a e-bike, the segment created can be the same on the two catégories. And they can be added on the classement but If we are on muscular bike, we have also a classement with only muscalar and if we are on a e-bike we have too a classement with only e-bike. There are toi much poeple who said that they are on muscalar instead of e-bike only because they want to see the time of their friend and to have segment because they don't want to create one.

And if a athlète have more than 5 signalement on e-bike it will be great if you commute directly all their activity on e-bike.

Thank's a lot for this improvement.

  • This is a proper corker…
When you post a ride as commute, when the ride is analysed it would be great to put how much fuel (petrol or diesel) you have saved, and the cost.
You would need to enter your car MPG and local fuel price.
Then you could a, feel smug and b, justify that new bike.
You could also have carbon saved.
Also great to calculate exact carbon savings in city’s by bikes to give local govt the push to get more cycling infrastructure.

  • Please change "Today" in "Same day" in the app. I want to compare my time on a segment with other people who rode the segment on the same day as I did. If I take a look at the segment that I rode on a Monday with 6Bft headwind I want to know what others did on that segment that same day. If today is Friday I only have the option to select "Today" which might be a day with 5Bft tailwind, which makes this information useless.

  • I want a Top 10 of my personal achievements.  For example, a history of when I set each new mile PR. It will allow me to see how I've improved over time, to compare when and where I set my previous mile PR or my first mile PR. The reason that is important is because it will show how I've improved against myself. This exists for segments, I can see when I had my 2nd, 3rd and 4th best time on a segment so I can see how I've improved.  I would like the same for mile, 10k, 5k, half, marathon, etc.

    Thanks!

And this should be seen in the feed also.
