Club profile image dimensions

Hi

Can you please tell me the correct image dimensions for the club profile image, as you can see here https://www.strava.com/clubs/224351 the image is being resized cutting off our heads, I thought the image size was 1183px by 580px however that isn't working.

Thanks

Rick

  • I was wondering the same thing in working with my clubs, and seeing as Strava doesn't appear to have given an "official" answer for club photo dimensions:  Simply based on trial and error, where I cropped the original (1183x580px) to best fit the actual picture as displayed, I got an estimated photo size, FWIW, of:

    1130px × 300px

Seeing as the heads in your club photo are no longer "cut off", I am guessing you figured out a workaround yourself, however.

  • I used a white blank image within Photoshop of 1183px x 580px but only had images of 360px height as, although you select the full region on upload, it gets cut off by the Strava header. I have attached the image I used to demonstrate - note the top and bottom of the image remains white to prevent cut-off and image distortion etc. Hope this helps.

  • I was trying to help sigurd k's issue of cropping with my suggestion - and to avoid this my dimensions, coupled with white magrins works.

  • After some trial and error the dimensions I found to work best are the following.

    Image canvas size: 1258x617px

On a desktop browser (Chrome/Firefox) the viewable dimensions are 1258x393.  In other words, the content you want to show has to appear in the first 393 pixels.  Anything below that will be hidden by the page style sheets.

Lastly, on mobile, the entire image canvas size shows up correctly (1258x617).

  • Is there any way to tell Strava to select a certain portion of the image to be shown in the desktop version? I ask this because I'm trying to use this image:

But in the desktop version I only get this:

Which, of course, looks boring as hell.

    Any help?

  • I've tried multiple dimensions and resolutions.    It would be helpful to have guidance from STRAVA on this.

  • Francisco |.'s approach is mostly right. But Strava "cuts off" or hides the lower part of your image depending on your screen resolution. I have not detected yet if the image height is important, but to prevent scaling by strava, the image resolution and the image format seem to be very important.

Image format has to be .jpg, otherwise the result on strava looks very blurry.
Image resolution mustn't be higher than 150 dpi. Otherwise, it also leads to blurriness.

Based on Francisco's values I uploaded a picture of the size 1258x617, which includes the most important content within the upper 393px. That's what is shown on my Desktop with a screen resolution of 1680x1050. On a lower screen resolution Strava cuts off more, whereas in the mobile app the whole image is visible.

  • Hi All :)

I am attempting to change the profile pic on our club page and having issues with my image being cropped.

Seemingly this happens regardless of the resolution of the image ?

See attached pic1 321x372 px and I have tried re saving the pic in Photshop in various smaller sizes down to 172x200px as per attached pic 2. Both of these pixel heights are smaller than the permitted ones mentioned in this thread but I still can't select the full picture.

I must be missing something here ? But I though that making the image smaller/shorter would then allow me to select the full area of the picture.

    Any help/suggestions appreciated.

    cheers :)

  • I have explained this in my previous post but everybody seems to be ignoring my solution. I did this for my partner's club - see : https://www.strava.com/clubs/stourbug  Copy and paste the image into Photoshop and you will instantly see the fix of having white areas above and below the photographs.

  • Jut in case you cannot see the club page which I think they have restricted access. Here is the link to the image :

  • Upload this for now and you will see what I mean. Then add your logo over the top or whatever!
