Apple Watch Cadence

Please implement the cadence option to the running workouts on Apple Watches (both Indoor & Outdoor runs). 

If I use the Apple Watch Workout app this data imports without issue and does it even for runs done on my old Series 2.  It would however be nice to have this captured by the Strava app itself though.

Even if you don't display it on the watch face while running to start with, just make it available and display it once uploaded then add to the watch face later.

  • I got sick of waiting for this and now use just use the built-in workout app (any activity / workout type).  I purchased Healthfit (https://apps.apple.com/au/app/healthfit/id1202650514) which sync's everything over to Strava automatically.

    It works great and provides the cadence details in addition to all sorts of other stuff.

  • Matt Hutchinson, with Workout app -> HealthFit -> Strava is your cadence chart smooth? I use the same method with my AW5, OS6 and cadence constantly jumps up and down 24SPM. The average is okay, but the chart is not useful.

  • Since Strava can't do it, I also found what Matt said, using the built-in workout app and HealthFit will bring over the cadence data. Finally, my Strava graphs shows cadence!

    My cadence line from my run yesterday was pretty smooth.  There was a 2-3 spm difference for some parts, but it was a trail run, and my first one in a while, so it's pretty close & I'd say any variance was me more than the watch.

    The only thing to remember is HealthFit doesn't auto-sync in the background anymore on iOS 13.  There was an update and something about changes to the way iOS handles things.

    Can also set a target cadence.

  • In LapTrak? It’s on the main activity screen. Take a look at http://www.laptrakapp.com - there are screenshots there.

  • Now that Strava can import directly from the watch / phone, can you add Cadence / steps as an import? The last thing keeping me on Healthfit!

  • I don't mind an extra step to import Cadence via Healthfit. However, if I use Healthfit to import cadence, the Pace Distribution wont work.

  • I've noticed that you can import cadence from Garmin Forerunner, but not via import from Apple Workout app. I mean, the data is already there, you just have to add one more setting to show cadence. Shouldn't be a problem

  • has anyone heard from Strava on this? Now that they changed their free vs. pay I am sure that they have some extra monies flowing in to support this type of development. 

    PLEASE give us cadence on the watch app so I can skip my silly manual sync with HealthFitPlus.

  • Mark Young, nope.

    If you're using HealthFit you can enable Auto-sync again so you don't even have to do anything.
