Omit Indoor Training Miles

Now that you have added tags that signify a "Vitual Ride" and "Indoor Trainer" can you please add a feature that allows the user to not count those miles towards the yearly total? Maybe a filter on the training log? Or it would be useful to have the ability to set the mileage to zero on indoor training and record only time and other metrics. As you can tell from multiple inquiries we are looking for a way to record indoor training without applying mileage.

  • Ha there been any action from Strava to seperate true miles and training miles as I see these posts dating back from 2017 and here we are in 2019 and looks like this has not yet been resolved?

  • Strava could solve this by implementing Indoor Riding as a separate sport.

On the other hand I want to count my treadmill running towards my yearly running goal.

  • Why don't you want to count indoor miles?  I think a mile is a mile, but need to be able to filter separately. Implementing separate sport would work.  For now, I am just using a different equipment/bike names:  "Road" for outdoor road miles and "EQ" for spin.  Not perfect, because the info from my Garmin gives me suffer score, minutes, heart rate, etc., but can't be modified to include distance.  It's a pain to have two separate entries for a spin class, but I haven't found any other way to do it.  And I think the nearly 500 miles I have on the trainer so far this year should count!

  • So much this! I love Zwift, but when I look at my annual miles, I would LOVE to be able to filter outdoor and indoor. Just like there is a filter to remove commutes.

    Thank you so much!

  • Is there any update on this? I've done 260 km this year without leaving the house. It's just not realistic!

  • The silence appears deafening from Strava with regards to this major topic of debate stretching back a number of years.

There are many genuine runners and riders who simply want to record accurate indoor training data on Strava. Do the majority of runners and riders really want to cheat by posting fake distances??? No they simply want to record their genuine data.

Tacx links directly with Strava but the metrics logged are way different from what shows in Tacx or Garmin. Zwift might be a bit more challenging to integrate as distance can be calculated in a different way to that which appears on Garmin, for example.

With regards to treadmill running, a Garmin footpod might provide more accurate calibration, however it doesn't resolve the indoor cycling issue.

Whilst I think that indoor mileage should be counted towards challenges I think that if Strava were to segregate 'Indoor/Virtual' miles but rectify the calibration issues or enable manual calibration then the majority of people would at least see this as progress.

Would be great to hear back from the Strava support team with regards to any thoughts or progression on this matter, even if to say tough, we're not doing anything.
