Show Total Elevation lost/Total Descent during an Activity

Hi

With the increasing popularity of Enduro racing, and many mountain bike parks offering lifted/shuttle service.  It would be great if Strava displayed both the total elevation gained and also the total elevation lost during an activity.  This feature would be of benefit to other users as well, as any ride which doesn't start/finish in the same location will have different elevation gained/lost during the ride.

Cheers,

Trevor

  • I agree with this wholeheartedly.  I would also like to see distance remaining during a ride (that has a pre determined route set).

  • Totally agree with everybody on this thread. I’m new to Strava, and was surprised to discover that it does not track/report descent info. Obvious feature that I would think is easy to add.

@Strava, what are you waiting for?

  • Hey Folks,

Our New Feature Ideas thread in the Community Forums is a place for athlete suggestions to improve Strava. We love big and small ideas. If you like someone else’s recommendation, vote on it or provide a comment of your own.

One thing to remember: just because something's popular doesn't mean it'll be implemented. Our forums are just one component of our decision-making process. While a ton of ideas are genuinely valuable, we need to be selective and balance our priorities.

    Thanks for understanding!

  • Would a product manager explain to all these paid subscribers what items haven taken priority in the backlog for the last 5 years? It seems like a trivial piece of engineering, so the explanation is more likely that Strava is philosophically opposed to displaying total descent? Will Strava at least tell us why?

  • I can't believe that Strava can't or won't show total elevation gain and loss. After a weekend of mountain biking, I have to download the GPXs and put them into another app to figure out how much we climbed and descended, while my friends can check the stats at the bottom of the ride? Too much hassle. I'm canceling my Summit Strava subscription.

  • Another one bites the dust Strava! Show us descent totals! We need that data.

  • Come on Strava.  Get on this.  No premium for me unless this is fixed.  You are losing money.  Add ELEVATION LOST!

  • Elevation loss is the most important stat & Strava refuses to install it, sad!

  • I've just let my Strava Summit membership lapse now too - I won't renew until altitude loss is shown. Come on Strava, people have been asking for this for more than 4 years now!

  • I don't understand why it takes Strava so long to implement customer needs.

This Gravity request (which is tracked on Garmin and Wahoo) has been sitting there for a few years.

This is the same pause in terms of responsiveness for a feature that separates out two different types of skiing (which decipher speed and effort) - Skate skiing and classic.

Let's get with the program Strava.  You could be so much more... especially if structured like an agile company that designs product to fit customer.  Others are breathing down your neck!  Get on it... we are soon disgruntled and noticed above than several are fleeing your paid subscription (i.e. loss in revenues).

    Laterz.

  • Strava will never add this feature. They are all about the Lycra not about the baggies...

  • I'm sure some roadies would appreciate the data.

Strava, can we get a response?

  • false. they also don't show correct total ascent for runners. This is not the first ignorance for important stats requested. I'll also seek for other app

  • Trailforks shows descent. Using it now instead...

  • Why will Strava not answer this? Keep posting people.

  • It's got to be possible because when you create our own route using Strava it gives you both elevation gain and loss in the statistics.

Please add it Strava, Hello Hello Hello
