Ability to export Training log to Excel or delimited file

I like tracking my activity in Excel and producing graphs, etc.  Being able to export the training log to Excel or CSV file would be beneficial for my analysis.  At the very least offer a button that screen where you can print the log so I can enter the data into Excel.

However, exporting the data would be awesome.....

  • Agree with Michael Deegan.  I ride to work on a regular route.  There's no way for me to see my times to and from over a long period of time to see how I'm tracking in terms of time taken on the route.  If the data could be exported to Excel, then I could do this.  I would have thought it would be pretty straight forward to provide such a feature.

  • I support this idea. Has there been any developments? At the very least I would like to see date, run type, run duration, run distance, average heart rate, elevation gain.

    Thanks.

  • I am also looking for a data export to a format I can manage in a spreadsheet (MS Excel format, of CSV to be imported in Excel).

I am not thinking about activity details, but one line per activity with high level data (e.g. date, time, place, kind of activity, distance, duration, speed, elevation, heart rate).

This would give ma lot more flexibility to manage my activity in stats (e.g. build graphs comparing years, identify trends (or a confirmation of training plans, etc).

Ideally I am looking for an interface that allows

    a) selection criteria for the download (all, between 2 dates, kind of activity, min/max distance + combination thereoff  would be great)

    a) selection of the data to be downloaded, i.e. select/deselect the columns to be exported

  • Thank you for Strava insight. This way we can see what cities in the world have the fastest cyclists. When is there going to be an action to let premium members be able to download the data to excel or a similar program for individual analysis? I have 4 bikes listed on Strava and I cannot separate them in a separate file. This export request has been going on for a while now. Whenever I call customer support to ask about this feature I am told to put it on the discussion boards where it will be reviewed. Apparently it hasn't yet been reviewed. Oh by the way, where in the discussion boards did it say that users wanted to know how other riders were doing before they could analyze personal data. If this is read e-mail me so we can discuss. I doubt I will get an e-mail. Better yet.. Give me a call so we can discuss. My number is in my account information.

  • Agree - Cyclemeter had this functionality from the very start, and it the biggest thing I miss about it! I'm not even sure yet how to see summaries of how many km you've done per week, month, year etc, something that was standard and intuitive with Cyclemeter

  • Yes, I also need to export data, 1 line per activities, with major metrics corresponding to that activities (title, sport, type of activities, distance, elevation up and down, duration, date and time, cadence, , etc...). I need this to build my yearly report of activities to my club. I would need either csv format or direct xls. Attached is the pdf export of my excel workbook, that I built last year upon using export from Garmin Connect/SportTrack. I have switched to Strava instead of SportTrack but I really lack this export feature.

Thanks to consider this. I won't go premium if not available. I also guess that you might be obliged legally to provide such feature anyway, for data privacy/property constraints.

  • If you use Wahoo Fitness App to record your data, then you can export it into Strava to use Strava for all your usual analysis, sharing etc and also export CSV files for use in Excel.

  • This would be a great feature. Please add a column for the information in the comments of the activity too. I make comments there about how I felt or what I changed and it would be great to see all of this data in one place vs opening each activity. I frequently find myself wondering what day I made a certain comment on a ride or run and have to open each activity to find it.

  • an option for you that may be helpful is to go to the activities log and "select" your multiple rows of activities.   "copy" then "paste" to a Excel sheet.    the activities log has limited activity attributes and it does not seem to be customization other the sorting and activity type.   but it will let you copy a basic date / time/ miles log.

  • I agree also....can't believe this isn't a feature already.  This thread is really old- has any progress been made?  Anyone know any updates?

  • This would be a really great feature for analysis that riders want to do outside of Strava.  Really bums me out that this is not supported.

  • Not only for playing around with training data an export to Excel would come in handy, but for segment data as well. Would be very much fun, in particular for clubs, to monitor progress over time of clubmembers over any given segments. The latter would be fun, but being able to export at least your own training data (for premium members only?) would be very useful!

Imports your Strava data then you have the ability to export activities to CSV.  Have to pay to get more than 25 activities though

  • This is the single reason I still upload all my activity to Garmin Connect as well.

  • It would be really nice to be able to do a simple export of the non-repeating (i.e. not segments) data elements of each activity.  Just all of the data elements that occur once for an activity - e.g. date, name, time, distance, moving time, elapsed time, avg. speed, max speed, watts, equipment, yada, yada...  A simple csv would be wonderful.  No XML please, just a delimeted csv.  Keep it simple.

  • Agreed and I want this feature/ability. How about only offer it to paid accounts as a carrot?

  • The community is speaking to you. I'll add my name to the list of premium users who want to download activities to excel for analysis and quick review of training comments.

  • This thread started over 2 years ago so I'm not sure how hopeful we can be, but as a premium subscriber, it's hard to believe this feature is not available.  Please, a simple CSV export of ride log data; hr, power, duration, elevation gain, cadence, equipment, ride type, ride title, description/comments, and Avg / Max where applicable.  I'm sure this is only a few days effort on an agile development board including development, code reviews, testing, and deployment. Low effort, high gain.

  • I think I may have found a reasonable work around... though I've only just done this and not spent much time playing with the data (so apologies if my excitement has got the better of me).

    - Create a RunKeeper account
    - Authenticate both your Strava and Runkeeper accounts withTapiriik. https://tapiriik.com/ (it's free, but you are encouraged to donate to support).
    - Once your data has synched in RunKeeper go to https://runkeeper.com/exportDataForm
    - Download the Zip file
    - Zip file will contain all your gpx files and a CSV called "cardioActivities"

The RunKeeper CSV contains the following fields:

    - Date
    - Type (Running / Cycling)
    - Distance in KMs
    - Duration
    - Average Pace
    - Average Speed
    - Calories Burned
    - Climb
    - Average Heart Rate
    - Notes (which is your activity's name in Strava)
    - GPX file

One caveat - the date and time formatting in the "Duration" column looks to be a tad inconsistent.

  • I posted this in another thread but I played around with the Strava API and hacked something together that emails you your running history as a CSV.  You're welcome to test it out!

  • @Jon Campbell

Thank you for your suggestion of using RunKeeper.

@Strava - if the solution is to use your competitor's website, via a third-party synchronisation tool, then maybe that is telling us something about your interest in allowing people to easily obtain their own data back from your site?

  • Oh Boy strava. Its hard not to conclude that Strava is not very interested in serving its customers. This is a basic function that most data based websites provide, with many having provided for a long time. even if it was a benefit of premium that'd be something. Everytime I go premium with Strava I am left wondering why I did and what evidence there is that Strava really has its customers in mind. Runkeeper is a great suggestion and it might be time to give up on Strava and start trying out some competitors sites.

  • So Strava, when is this going to happen then, because I for one will be cancelling my premium membership if this is not forthcoming. What do you actually do with all the income you receive from members across the world? This should be a relatively simple function to develop so why the delay?

Please allow for downloads in either xls or csv format, it's not rocket science.
