Calendar Planning and Sync
As it’s still relatively early in new year, I know that many others out there have commenced planning goals for 2015. Managing all that requires a calendar/schedule of events, appointments, goals etc. Being able to easily map out your training (for cycling, runs, swims) is also important.
With this in mind I thought I would share the following app which I recently discovered. In particular, I needed something that went across several platforms. I predominately work from a PC but have an android phone, and an Ipad. The calendar's I have previously used weren't so impressive (outlook, ADC, Google, Apple's etc).
So after some considerable research I feel obliged to pass this on:
Sunrise Calendar – for Desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android
Sunrise is a free calendar app made for Google Calendar, iCloud and Exchange.
That tag line doesn’t really do it justice as it syncs with Facebook, Evernote, LinkedIn, ICloud, Trello, Exchange, Github, TripIt, Foursquare, Twitter, Google tasks etc. It's real easy to use and I can't recommend it enough. You can tag people/contacts, and addresses are automatically added via google maps etc. Icons automatically generate when you name the title for example: "Bike with John | Riverloop", or "Run w/ Elle" brings up the respective icons (http://support.sunrise.am/article/36-event-icons).
But what about Strava? Well that's also part of the reason for sharing the above. Here they have a place to vote for the next app to add. Strava is already on the list: http://bit.ly/sunriseappsurvey , if you find the above useful then voting to have Strava added next would be exceptional!
Just off the top of my head on what could be synced;
- When you upload your activity, that time could be slotted in and then a link made back to Strava from the Calendar.
- Routes that you have made for training; allocate those ahead of time.
- If you have accepted any challenges; the start and end date's are entered.
- If you have signed up to any of the CTS training plans on Strava, those plans are entered for each day.
Do you have any other ideas?
Let me know if you found the above useful or you think there is something better. (Disclaimer - I have nothing to do with these folks. Just like to recognize quality when I see it!)
