Strava Live Activities let you view real-time stats from your recording directly on your iPhone Lock Screen or Dynamic Island, on supported devices. This makes it easier to check your progress without unlocking your phone.
How Live Activities work
When you start recording in the Strava app, a Live Activity automatically appears on your Lock Screen. If your device supports it, it will also appear in the Dynamic Island.
Live Activities display elapsed time, distance, and pace. You can tap the Live Activity to return to the Strava app and view more details or stop your recording. The Live Activity will end once you finish and save your activity.
The Live Activities feature requires an iPhone running iOS 16.1 or later. Dynamic Island is supported on iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, and iPhone 15 series or newer.
How to enable Live Activities
Strava uses Live Activities automatically, but you’ll need to allow them in your iPhone settings:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Go to Face ID & Passcode and make sure Live Activities are allowed when the phone is locked.
Go to Settings > Strava > Live Activities, then turn on Allow Live Activities and More Frequent Updates (optional — this updates stats more often but may use more battery)
Once these settings are enabled, Strava will automatically show Live Activities when you record.
How to turn off Live Activities
If you don’t want to see Live Activities while recording:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Go to Strava > Live Activities.
Toggle Allow Live Activities off.
You’ll still be able to record normally in the Strava app.
