Troubleshooting Syncing

If, after recording your activity on the iOS or Android app, the activity does not appear on your Strava account, there are several things you can try. The following steps help troubleshoot activities recorded on the mobile app that have not synced. Athletes recording their activities using a device and not the Strava app can find more information on how to troubleshoot syncing here.

Android

    1. Try recording a new activity, saving, and uploading that activity to see if it pushes any missing or pending uploads to your account.
    2. Make sure you are in an area with good data coverage or, even better, connect via WiFi and tap on the ride to try again.
    3. Log out and then back into the Strava app.
    4. Turn your phone off and then back on again.
    5. If you're still having trouble, your phone may tell you that you have Unsync'd Activities in your feed. From here, select Unsync'd Activities and then tap the Sync button to prompt your phone to try again; you can delete the failing upload or export the activity as a .GPX file to your phone's internal storage. Choose to email the file to yourself so you can upload it via the Strava website.

It's also possible that the phone's available storage capacity causes the sync issue. The syncing process will need additional storage capacity to process the record data to send to the Strava servers for uploading. If you're running low on space, try removing some photos or music, and that can free up enough space on the phone for the sync to complete.

iOS

    1. Try recording a new activity, saving, and uploading that activity to see if it pushes any missing or pending uploads to your account.
    2. Log out and then back into the Strava app.
    3. Turn your phone off and then back on again.
    4. Make sure you are in an area with good data coverage or, even better, connect via WiFi. Navigate to You > Activities and pull down on the feed slightly (but not all the way) as if you were going to refresh. Your phone may tell you that you have "Pending Uploads" on your feed. From here, you can tap the Retry button to prompt your phone to attempt the sync again.

If this doesn't work, the activity may be corrupt and unable to upload. In this case, you'll need to remove the failed upload—tap Pending Upload to navigate back to the "Unsynced Activities" page and tap Delete.
