Activity Replay

Strava subscribers can view animated activity maps on their feed. These maps play back your route and highlight your top 3 achievements.

Animated activity maps are the default map style for subscriber activities that previously defaulted to the standard vector map, such as walks, runs, and rides. Any activity can be edited to show a different map style. Animated maps follow your video playback settings. If video playback is set to Automatic, the animation plays automatically. If it's set to Manual, tap the play button to start it.

To view animated activity maps, update the Strava app to version 462 for iOS and 463 for Android or later. This feature is only available on the Strava mobile app.

FAQs

I have a Strava subscription, but I can't see animated activity maps. Why?

Animated activity maps are in beta and are being rolled out gradually to all subscribers.

Why didn't my animated map highlight all of my achievements?

When an activity has more than 3 achievements, only the top 3 are featured in the animated map.

Can I share my animated activity map?

Yes. Tap the share icon on the activity, then scroll through the options until you see the animated map share option.

What happens to my animated activity map if I update my privacy zone or crop an activity?

Animated activity maps will regenerate to reflect privacy zone or crop updates for activities within the last 30 days. Activities older than 30 days will not be updated.

Will my existing activities get animated activity maps?

Animated activity maps are only generated for new activities. Existing activities will not automatically receive them.

Why do I sometimes see a static map instead of the animated one?

It takes a few seconds to generate an animated activity map. If you open the activity before it's ready, the static map displays in the meantime. Refresh your feed after a few seconds to see the animated version.

Will the activity replay respect my privacy radius?

Replays only show the public portion of your activity, for you and anyone else who views it.
