Physical Therapy on Strava

Written by Rochelle Garcia

Physical Therapy is a sport type for logging recovery and mobility work. Activities logged as Physical Therapy will appear in your feed, count toward your activity history, show up in your 12-week progress chart, and include a muscle map, allowing you to add the muscles you worked. They do not include a map by default.

How to Add Physical Therapy Activity

From the Strava app:

  1. Go to the activity you'd like to update and tap the ellipsis menu.

  2. Tap “Edit Activity”.

  3. Search for “Physical Therapy” under “Sport Type”.

  4. Select and tap “Save”.

On the Strava website:

  1. Open the activity.

  2. Click the pencil icon to edit.

  3. Click the sport type field.

  4. Find and select “Physical Therapy”.

  5. Click “Save”.

You can also select Physical Therapy directly from the sport picker when starting a new recording on the Strava mobile app (iOS and Android) and Apple Watch. Select Physical Therapy before starting your session.

Third-party device support

Activities from compatible devices will automatically sync to Strava as Physical Therapy.

  • Garmin — Activities recorded as "Mobility" will sync as Physical Therapy.

  • Apple Watch Workouts app — Activities recorded as Flexibility, Rolling, Cooldown, Mind and Body, or Preparation and Recovery will sync as Physical Therapy.

Please note that existing activities of these types are not retroactively remapped; only new activities going forward are.
