Why Is My Virtual Ride Segment Private?

Learn why some virtual ride segments on Strava were made private, why newly created virtual segments default to private, and how to still see your results.

Segments are a huge part of how athletes stay motivated and inspired, whether they're training outdoors or indoors on a platform like Zwift. We're excited to remove clutter and noise so athletes can experience the segments that matter the most. Here's what you need to know:

  • The least popular virtual ride segments have been made private, but none have been deleted. Any segments you've created can be found on the Strava website by selecting Dashboard > My Segments > Created Segments.

  • Any newly created virtual ride segments will be private.

  • You can still see your results on any segments you've created on your ride activity details page. Please be aware that it may take a long time for your previous activities to be matched to a newly created segment.

  • If you want to see everyone's effort on a segment that's been made private, there's likely a similar, popular public segment that already exists.
