Starting June 1, 2026, Strava will begin rolling out an official MCP as part of the Strava subscription, built with security and quality guardrails. It's the supported path for athletes who want to interact with their Strava data through AI.
The Strava MCP Connector is a remote MCP server that gives subscribers conversational access to their own activity data through AI assistants. It also provides, for the first time, access to subscription features, like training analytics, outside the Strava app/site.
Athletes connect via OAuth and can ask natural-language questions about their activities, fitness trends, and training load — answered from live Strava data, not a static export.

FAQs
What kinds of questions can I answer with the Strava MCP?
Strava’s MCP helps you analyze your past activities and fitness trends, and much more. You can ask it things like…
“What types of activities have most improved my fitness?"
- Unlock your full training history, analyzed in plain language. Volume trends, pace over time, how specific training cycles have stacked up against your best.
“Are my easy days easy enough?”
- It’s hard to keep your pace low – look back at all your easier efforts in context to inform your perspective.
“How is my cross-training affecting my running?”
- Synthesize trends across strength, cycling, running, or however you stay active.
Why don’t I see the ability to connect to the MCP?
Starting June 1, 2026, we’re gradually rolling out access to the MCP. To see if you have access, check the MCP settings page or in the Claude directory, ask Claude "am I eligible for the Strava MCP?". If you are a subscriber and the MCP is not shown, your access is coming soon.
Will this be rolling out to other AI clients?
We’re launching with Anthropic (Claude) and looking to support other AI clients in the future.
Is the Strava MCP Connector a subscriber feature?
Yes, only Strava subscribers will have access to the MCP. Access is included as part of the following subscriptions:
- Strava subscription
- Strava + Runna bundle
- Family Plan
- Student Plan
- Military, Educator, and Medical Discounts
Can I use the MCP to upload or edit activities, or is it read-only?
The MCP is read-only and it cannot upload or edit activities.
Are the MCP and my data secure?
The Strava MCP is built by Strava and was designed with security and quality guardrails. As always, your data stays yours. The MCP connector provides read-only access, scoped to your account, and is revocable anytime from Strava settings.
You can learn more about Claude’s security and privacy here.
How is this different from just exporting my data and uploading it into Claude?
The Strava MCP enables you to connect live to your data and read in real time, as well as the ability to utilize subscription features. With an MCP, you also have a connection that persists across queries in a session.
Bulk exporting your Strava data and uploading it to Claude is a more manual process and only gives you a static snapshot of your data at a point in time. Claude reads it once, in that conversation, then it's gone.
Claude gave me a different answer than what I see in the Strava app. Why?
AI clients have their own ways of processing information that may lead to insights and responses that differ from what you see on Strava (e.g, Performance Predictions, your Runna training plan).
Are there any limitations in how I can use the MCP?
The MCP can currently be used for Activity history, Fitness trends, Readiness, Goal planning, Cross-sport and Gear. We’ll be adding more functionality in the future.
There is a limit to the number of requests you can make per minute and per day.
